Angelina Jolie ‘Devastated’ Over Son Maddox Going To College?

A tabloid claims Angelina Jolie is “devastated” over her oldest child Maddox leaving for college, to the point where she’s having a breakdown. The story is very dramatic and inaccurate. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

Jolie’s 18-year-old son whom she adopted in 2003 from Cambodia prior to her marriage to Brad Pitt, who become his adoptive father in 2005, went away to college in South Korea this month. According to the National Enquirer, Jolie “has slumped into terrified helplessness” over her son leaving home. The fictitious story maintains that the actress was seen “ashen faced” when she was spotted leaving a restaurant in Malibu. The tabloid quotes “moles” as saying that the Maleficent star is scared of “being alone” as her children get older and star “fleeing the nest.”

The “moles” are further quoted as saying, “It won’t be long before [15-year-0ld] Pax follows Maddox to college,” followed by her four younger children until they all leave her “alone.” Th so-called source maintains that Jolie’s “a wreck” over the thought of this, but Gossip Cop looked into the claim and it’s simply not true.

In fact, a video of Jolie and her son arriving at Yonsei University popped up on Instagram this week. The actress got emotional while dropping her son off for his first year of college, and while she understandably has mixed emotions, she was hardly “devastated” as the tabloid claims.

In the video, which was reposted by Entertainment Tonight, Jolie says she “trying not to cry,” but it’s clear she is very proud of Maddox and reacting just the way one would expect any parent to react when their child goes off to school, with both pride and some normal worry.

Earlier this month, ET also posted a story about Maddox’s 18th birthday revealing that Jolie “loves [Maddox] and is so proud of how wise he is beyond his years. She has encouraged him to travel nonstop, to learn many languages, and now has plans for him to go to university overseas.” It’s hard to believe the actress would be upset over Maddox doing exactly what she has always encouraged him to do.

It’s worth noting that the Enquirer often runs false stories about Jolie’s children. Earlier this summer, the tabloid wrongly reported that the Jolie-Pitt kids were demanding their own zoo, and Jolie, along with Pitt, were building one for them. That report was totally fabricated, as is this latest one. An individual in Jolie’s camp confirms she’s not having a nervous breakdown over Maddox going away to school.
