The National Enquirer has shamelessly stirred rumors about troubled pregnancies before, but it really, really lowers the bar this week with a reprehensible “exclusive” about Britney Spears and her reported “abortion nightmare.”
The pop princess supposedly cried, “I killed my baby!” during a “recent emotional meltdown,” according to the supermarket tab’s so-called “insider.” What’s the context? The Enquirer claims Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline “briefly reunited” during the holidays two years ago, resulting in a pregnancy that Spears allegedly terminated in despair when Federline denied being the father.
The same “insider” explains that the decision is something Spears “really regrets,” and that the pain “is magnified” around the holidays. Spears is also “still pining” for Federline and “increasingly jealous” over his relationship with girlfriend Victoria Prince.
Especially upsetting, according to the Enquirer? That Prince “recently learned she was pregnant with Kevin’s child.”
Let’s stop this right here.
Prince is NOT pregnant. Several weeks ago the Enquirer (wrongly) claimed she that was. Gossip Cop busted it then.
And this despicable “abortion nightmare” piece also illustrates Spears’ supposed baby anguish with a photo of her crying… a photo that the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, uses this week to bolster an apparent argument Spears had on December 15 with Jason Trawick.
Light on facts, based on its own since-debunked reporting, misleading in its photos, and shameless in its exploitation… this Enquirer piece is the real “nightmare.”
