The front gate of LeBron James’ Los Angeles home was spray painted with the n-word on early Wednesday morning and the act of vandalism is now being investigated as a possible hate crime.
According to TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department and a neighborhood patrol vehicle arrived at the NBA star’s home after receiving a call about the derogatory graffiti. James wasn’t home at the time of the incident as the Cleveland Cavaliers player is currently in San Francisco ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
The authorities are reportedly searching for security footage from nearby houses in an effort to catch the perpetrator who wrote the racial slur, which has since been covered up. As Gossip Cop has reported, vandals have targeted the houses and properties of a number of celebrities in the past. Earlier this year, the exterior of the Kardashians’ Dash store was vandalized with spray paint. And last summer, the c-word was spray painted on Harry Styles’ London home.
Additionally, Kendall Jenner’s Calvin Klein billboard in New York was vandalized in 2015 after a drone piloted by a graffiti artist spray painted red lines across the model’s face. A number of celebrities have also had their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame vandalized with spray paint, including Mariah Carey, Bill Cosby and President Donald Trump.
