A tabloid claims William H. Macy is divorcing Felicity Huffman following her guilty plea in the college admission cheating scandal. The story is completely untrue. Gossip Cop exclusively can debunk it.

Earlier this month, the “Desperate Housewives” actress pleaded guilty to the fraud charges against her and admitted to paying $ 15,000 to have daughter’s SAT scores boosted. According to the National Enquirer, Huffman’s husband is “set to walk out” amid the latest development in the scandal. A headline in the latest issue of the magazine reads, “Humiliated Macy Fed Up With Felicity!”

An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Bill was never on board with the maniacal lengths Felicity went to in order to get their daughter Sophia into college.” Prosecutors are reportedly seeking four to 10 months’ jail time for Huffman, to which the “insider” states, “If Felicity’s heading to prison, Bill likely won’t be there for her when she gets out.”

The tabloid’s report simply isn’t accurate. Gossip Cop checked in with Macy’s rep, who exclusively tells us on the record that the spouses of more than 20 years aren’t headed for a split over the actress’s legal troubles. His spokesperson says the magazine’s tale couldn’t be “further from the truth.” Macy is standing with his wife during this difficult time.

People magazine, a much more reliable source for celebrity news than the Enquirer, recently also noted that Huffman and Macy “remain united” following her guilty plea. Additionally, Huffman and Macy were photographed holding hands while arriving at a Los Angeles courthouse earlier this month. It’s clear the actor is supporting Huffman amid the controversy.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has had to debunk a similar story surrounding the spouses. Last month, we busted the Enquirer’s sister outlet, Life & Style, for falsely claiming Huffman and Macy were headed for a divorce over the scandal. That ridiculous article even maintained that Macy was using dating apps as he prepared to split from his wife. The premise wasn’t true then, and it’s no more accurate now that Huffman has pleaded guilty.

In addition to making up phony articles about Huffman’s marriage, the Enquirer has also used the college admissions scandal to create nonexistent drama between the actress and her former co-stars. A few weeks ago, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly reporting the “Desperate Housewives” cast was furious with Huffman because they stood to lose millions of dollars in residuals. Only, the ABC drama doesn’t play in reruns, so the storyline was completely baseless. The same goes for this latest tale.
