Andy Murray looks to be on early season form and is starting to look on a roll at the Australian Open currently in full flight down in Oz at Melbourne. He’s through to the third round and he rattled off 16 aces as he showed his superior game play and beat the Ukraine’s Illya Marchenko 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. It was a full capacity crowd at the Margaret Court Arena and he had pretty much all of them on his side, he’s a performer and a character on court, the crowds love him and the Scottish flags were in abundance. He didn’t let his fans down and did the deed in the first set, which he took in a blistering 29 minutes. The whole match kept him on the court for 1 hour 57 minutes. A walk in the park!
Murray is next up against Garcia-Lopez the world No32. He has lost to Lopez on their only once previous meeting, which was on grass at Queen’s in 2009.
Rafael Nadal, the current World No 1 is showing no let up in his domination of men’s tennis and looks to be going for the all four Grand Slam titles. He also also had a commanding win, defeating American qualifier Ryan Sweeting 6-2, 6-1, 6-1.
Rafael Nadal faces Australian wild card Bernard Tomic, the youngest player in the tournament who is only 18. The result looks predictable but predictable is not a word you can use in the world of tennis!
