Dozens Of Celebs BUSTED Using Fake (Or Stolen) Twitter Followers — And One May Even Lose His Job!

This is so thirsty!

Remember last year when we found out half of Donald Trump‘s followers on Twitter were just bots (and we now know probably Russian ones)??

He was far from the only big name with a big fake following either.

Photos: Top 25 Celebrities On Twitter (When You Take Out FAKE Followers)!

While that Twitter audit couldn’t necessarily track the source of the bots, it turns out a great many celebs have purposely purchased their followings!

According to an exposé in The New York Times over the weekend, some of these ersatz accounts aren’t just bots — they’re stolen identities, complete with photos of the real people they’re posing as!

The company allegedly behind the creepy social identity theft is Devumi, and the amount of celebs who have Devumi followers is MASSIVE!

The Times listed 99 celebrities, everybody from Real Housewives stars Lisa Rinna and Sonja Morgan to American Idol alum Clay Aiken to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin‘s controversy-creating wife Louise Linton.

Republicans, Democrats, porn stars, the president of Ecuador — seriously!

A few celebs actually responded to the story; in some cases they said PR people bought the users without the celeb’s knowledge (hmm), in others the stars say they were just experimenting.

Brad Pitt, Halle Berry Dating?

Brad Pitt Halle Berry Dating

(Getty Images)

Brad Pitt and Halle Berry are not dating, despite a completely made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the random romance rumors. We’re told the two aren’t an item.

According to the Australian tabloid NW, Pitt recently began “casually wining and dining” Berry, and now their budding relationship is starting to heat up. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “They’ve had a number of very top secret meet ups at one of the bungalows at the Hotel Bel-Air. It’s early days but so far things are going well… Brad thinks she’s absolutely stunning.”

The outlet’s questionable insider goes on to say that the two movie stars have crossed paths over the years, but they’ve never been single at the same time. “It’s not like they’re going in cold. The connection was already there. Brad is totally Halle’s type too, so it’s no shock that she’s jumped at the chance to hang out with him.”

As the story goes, Angelina Jolie isn’t happy about Pitt’s (nonexistent) romance with Berry because she’s hated the actress ever since she co-starred with her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton in 2002’s Monster Ball. “Billy Bob and Angelina were married at the time and she was convinced that he had a fling with Halle behind her back,” says the supposed insider. “It drives her nuts that Brad’s with Halle now.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Pitt, who laughed off the tabloid’s report before exclusively assuring us that the actor hasn’t been on any dates with Berry. This is yet another baseless attempt to pair up the single movie star with a random female celebrity. Since his 2016 split from Jolie, the actor has been wrongly linked to Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Hudson, Sienna Miller, Emilia Clarke and Charlotte Casiraghi, just to name a few. Although it’s true that Pitt has slowly started dating again, he hasn’t gone out with any of those women mentioned.

Also, NW is the same unreliable magazine that Gossip Cop recently busted for making up a story about Pitt reuniting with Jennifer Aniston in Aspen over the holidays. The disreputable outlet seems to go with different narratives on a whim. This latest article involving the actor dating Berry is equally arbitrary and untrue.

OK! Runs Old Fake Story About Jennifer Aniston Meeting Brad Pitt’s Kids

Jennifer Aniston Meets Brad Pitt Kids OK Cover

(OK Australia)

OK! Australia is shamefully running an old, fake news story about Jennifer Aniston meeting Brad Pitt’s kids. Though the claim was debunked immediately after it came out, the tabloid is still trying to deceive readers. Gossip Cop can explain what’s going on and bust the allegation again.

Last Wednesday, In Touch released a new cover falsely announcing, “Jen Meets Brad’s Kids!” The front of the issue was purposely designed to trick consumers into thinking there were photos of this supposed meeting. One picture showed Pitt walking with his son Knox and another featured Aniston greeting a boy with a similar resemblance. It was intended to make readers believe the kid was Knox. It was not.

As Gossip Cop revealed, Aniston was actually pictured with a child actor on the set of her 2010 movie, The Switch. And the photo of Pitt and Knox wasn’t recent, either. It was a snapshot taken in 2015, and the gossip magazine actually cropped Angelina Jolie and daughter Vivienne out of the frame. The two pictures have no connection to one another and certainly weren’t evidence that Aniston had met Pitt’s children.

Gossip Cop, of course, still investigated further, and we confirmed that she’s never met any of her ex-husband’s kids. In addition, a rep for Pitt exclusively told us the cover story was 100 percent false. Yet despite that on-the-record debunking, OK! Australia still decided to run a virtually identical cover and article. As seen in the side-by-side comparison below, not only is the same exact language used on the cover, but the Aussie outlet also replicated the photo deception. Though the origin of the photos was already exposed, the publication still attempted to mislead readers in an attempt to sell magazine copies.

Additionally, the In Touch story is also recycled almost word-for-word. For example, the American tabloid quoted an alleged source as saying that when Aniston supposedly met Pitt’s children, “The kids knew who Jen was and were familiar with her from TV and magazine photos, but they treated her like a normal friend of their father’s.” The OK! Australia version features that same quote and repeats many others. So, what’s going on?

This actually isn’t a case of plagiarism. Rather, it’s an instance of intentionally shared content. What many people don’t know is that Australia’s OK! and America’s In Touch are sister publications.

They are both owned by Bauer Media, and as Gossip Cop has started increasingly monitoring foreign gossip outlets, we’ve noticed that what first appears stateside is then sometimes regurgitated in Australia. But there is no justification for running untrue claims when they’ve already been proven to be erroneous and made-up. Perhaps it’s time for the tabloid Down Under to stop trying to pull one over on its readers.

Grammys 2018: Stars Wearing White Roses On The Red Carpet To Show Support Of #MeToo Movement

They aren’t quite as united as actors for the Golden Globes were on the red carpet wearing all black, but musicians and other stars in the music world are putting up their own symbolic gesture to show support of the #MeToo movement out on the red carpet at the Grammys this weekend!

The stars are starting to show up on the red carpet at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and they’re wearing white roses to symbolize their support for the movement and equality in general!

As you can see (above) with Andrew Taggart (left) and Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers, some musicians and celebs on the carpet are already decked out in those white roses on their lapels and outfits.

Nothing uniform yet — Grammys-goers aren’t as united thus far as the actors had been at the Golden Globes — but a nice, small gesture nonetheless!

Three More Women Have Come Forward With Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Jeremy Piven

Several months ago, five women accused actor Jeremy Piven of various forms of sexual misconduct — and this weekend, in a bombshell new report at BuzzFeed News, three more women have come forward with brand new allegations of sexual misconduct and impropriety.

The claims of the three women date back decades, with allegations of inappropriate behavior and more against the former Entourage star.

In addition to the women themselves, BuzzFeed spoke to a total of eight other people who all variously confirmed that the women had shared their stories with them at the time, or in the years since, well before these stories had gone to print.

That means now eight total women have come forward publicly to accuse Piven of sexual misconduct.

Piven’s lawyers have vehemently denied the claims outlined in this new article — just as they did in November — calling them “works of fiction,” and adding that the stories are “conjured up in an opportunistic effort to capitalize on the current media storm in order to obtain attention and/or money.”

Wow.

In a written statement for this story, Piven himself added (below):

“These allegations, which in one case goes back more than 30 years and the two others more than 20 years ago, are false. As evidenced by the lie detector test I took and passed, I have never forced myself on anyone, nor have I ever exposed myself or restrained anyone against their will. To the contrary, if any woman ever said no, I stopped.”

He did take a lie detector test, for what it’s worth.

Piven and his lawyers also threatened BuzzFeed with lawsuits if they published, but, well, here we are.

Former Charles In Charge Star Nicole Eggert Says Scott Baio Molested Her When She Was 14 Years Old

Holy. Shit.

Former Charles In Charge sitcom star Nicole Eggert came out on Twitter a few hours ago to accuse former co-star Scott Baio of an unspecified sexual impropriety against her during filming while she was just 14 years old.

The former child and teen actor first accused Baio publicly in a retweet of another Twitter user (below):

Wow.

And Eggert wasn’t shy about backing it up, either. When one user accused her of trying to score political points with the accusation, she responded to that (below):

Other actors who worked with Nicole on the set of Charles In Charge quickly backed up her claim, too (below):

Meanwhile, Scott is vehemently denying the accusations and more or less melting down on Twitter about it, sending out dozens of tweets within the last couple hours in denial.

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie NOT “Very Close” To Finalizing Custody Agreement, Despite Report

Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie Finalizing Custody

(Getty Images)

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not “very close” to finalizing their custody agreement. Gossip Cop can bust this wrong rumor for the second time.

In a story on its website on Saturday, In Touch contends the estranged spouses have “finally found some middle ground when it comes to their custody battle.” The tabloid deems this a “win” for Pitt, since Jolie was initially seeking sole custody. But now the tabloid maintains “the former couple is actually close to finalizing their divorce” with a plan to share custody.

These allegations are based on sister outlet Life & Style, which features the same claims in its latest issue. A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Brad and Angelina are near an amicable agreement on the kids. They’re in a better place than they have been in a long time and should be settling their divorce and custody agreement by sometime in February.”

Notably, neither gossip magazine has any details on what the supposed agreement entails. That’s probably because the outlets don’t actually have accurate insight on such matters. As Gossip Cop reported days ago when Celebrity Insider picked up the contentions and further asserted Pitt was “heading to court next month,” nothing has significantly changed in the situation. Pitt has been regularly seeing his kids for the last year, and he and Jolie are not substantially closer to finalizing their divorce and establishing a permanent custody schedule.

In fact, Gossip Cop was specifically told that negotiations are in a “holding pattern.” So, to say Pitt and Jolie are “very close” to finalizing an agreement is actually very wrong. Also wrong are the various claims that fill out the rest of the In Touch tale. The publication goes on to bring up debunked assertions about Jolie preventing Pitt from seeing his children over the holidays, as well as an untrue allegation about her being “headed toward a complete physical meltdown.”

There’s also nonsense about Pitt “turning to his ex, Jennifer Aniston, for emotional support.” Gossip Cop has busted that fabrication multiple times, along with the lie about Aniston’s marriage to Justin Theroux being “on the rocks.” The tabloid ends its online article by expressing, “Well, we hope Angie and Brad will soon be able to put this nasty period behind them.” Considering the gossip media continually portrays Jolie and Pitt as being at each other’s throats with never-ending disputes, it’s an odd comment.

The nastiness continually comes from the gossip media and its ilk. Everyone, including Pitt and Jolie themselves, would be better off without it, especially when it’s largely erroneous. And even though this is a more positive narrative, it’s not any more true than what’s come before it.
