OMG. I’m in shock. I never expected to see this headline. Actor/comedian Robin Williams is dead at the age of 63. USA Today reports that a press release issued by the Tiburn, California sheriff’s office states that Robin was found unconscious and not breathing inside his home around noon local time. He reportedly was pronounced dead soon afterwards. RELATED: Robin Williams chatted with Parade magazine about going back to work.
The press release stated (in part):
The coronor suspects the death was “a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for Tuesday.
Robin’s rep released a statement.
Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
Robin’s wife, Susan Schneider, told CNN:
This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken.
“On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
This is such a tragic end for a man who made so many people laugh. Nothing can tarnish all of his amazing accomplishments. Our thoughts go out to Robin’s family and friends during this difficult time. I still can’t believe it.
