Well, now! Anne Hathaway got very candid with ELLE UK in her interview. The Oscar winning actress talked about the stress of handling fame and living in the public eye. It hasn’t been easy for her: I still can’t believe how she was treated during the awards show season in 2013. She was winning award after award for her amazing acting in ‘Les Miserables’ but catching tons of flack away from the podium. Anne talked about the difficulty of growing up in the spotlight.
This fame thing? F–ked me up for a really long time. I didn’t know how to do it; I didn’t know how to engage with it; it stressed me out. And people would say, ‘You just have to be yourself,’ and I was like, ‘But I don’t know who that is yet!’”
How did Anne deal with the backlash she experienced in 2013?
I’ve realized that I don’t need validation from anybody. At all. I’m not sitting here now worrying, ‘What do you think of me?’ With all due respect,” she said, addressing her interviewer, “you seem like a lovely lady, but I don’t need you, or anyone else, to like me. And that’s so liberating.”
That’s how you have to handle being in the public eye, I think. You just can’t worry about all the things that are said/written about you, or you’ll go INSANE. Anne’s still working, however. In these pictures, she’s shooting her movie ‘The Intern.’
