WHEN Scott Schuman published a picture on his Sartorialist fashion blog of a homeless man in New York, he called it “NOT GIVING UP”:

I don’t usually shoot homeless people. I don’t find it romantic or appealing like a lot of street photographers, and if you asked homeless people they are probably not to happy about their situation either. That’s why I was surprised to be so drawn to taking a picture of this gentleman.

And then the comments came:

I find Homeless people having the most creative style a lot of times. The way they layer/ coloring/ mixing patterns are so powerful! I always find them inspiring. You said this photo isn’t about fashion. What is Fashion anyway? I thought this is pretty fashionable.

It’s so easy to believe that homeless people are down on their luck, but really they have a freedom the rest of us in society do not. The chaos of uncertainty can yield a freedom that eludes the rest of us with our perfectly clean lives…

I often look at homeless folks for inspiration on what to wear. There is a certain softness to the clothes after being worn day-in, day-out. I also think they tend to wear exclusively what is necessary, something not too warm for the day, and a warmer layer for nights. I particularly remember a certain gent in Cincinnati who would wear a perfectly coordinated outfit until it got dirty, and then he replaced it with another, also in perfect coordination. SAY ‘Jesus Christ’ to Donny Reagan of the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ in Johnson City, Tennessee. The American Jesus blog think he could be the most racist preacher in the USA.

What we learn about Brother Reagan wipes his face a lot and believes God was clever to have invented grass for the sheep to eat, it being true that sheep prefer green grass to orange grass, and that god realised the preferences or the ram, ewe and lamb and created the vegetation in their favourite hues and textures. Amen.

Before we get to Reagan, let’s learn more of the church where he channels the prophets of segregation:

“Hybreeding, hybreeding, oh how terrible. They hybreed the people. You know it’s a big molding pot. I’ve got hundreds of precious colored friends that’s borned again Christians. But on this line of segregation, hybreeding the people. What, tell me what fine cultured, fine Christian colored woman would want her baby to be a mulatto by a white man? No sir, it’s not right.”

Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum is getting in on the awards show fun! They unveiled a Sandra Bullock wax figure to accompany other Hollywood wax figures (Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Morgan Freeman) on the Awards Walk at Hollywood & Highland. I have to say, this Sandra figure looks incredibly lifelike, doesn’t it?

I bet the Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood Wax Museum sees an uptick in visitors at this time of year. It’s the perfect time of year. I’d much rather go see the wax figures than stand for hours on end and try to see the celebs live as they prepare to walk the red carpet. Then again, I’m lazy like that- LOL. Have you ever been to the Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Hollywood?

I think this is a first with Fergie: traveling with baby Axl. The mother-son baby were spotted catching a flight out of LAX. Only Fergie could look chic while traveling with a baby. LOVE that bag she’s carrying.

Fergie looks amazing, doesn’t she? We’ve seen how hard she worked for her post-baby body, too. She’s EARNED it.
