Gwyneth Paltrow Dishes On Exes Brad Pitt & Ben Affleck

Time does give some perspective, doesn’t it? Gwyneth Paltrow opened up about her high profile romances with Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck from before she married Chris Martin. She doesn’t hold back in talking about them, either! RELATED: Gwyneth Paltrow explains why she was ready to end her marriage.

I’d forgotten Gwyneth and Brad were engaged before it just ended abruptly in 1997. She told Howard Stern in a radio interview:

I definitely fell in love with him. He was so gorgeous and sweet. I mean, he was Brad Pitt!
I was such a kid, I was 22 when we met. It’s taken me until 40 to get my head out of my a**. You can’t make that decision when you’re 22 years old… I wasn’t ready, and he was too good for me. I didn’t know what I was doing.”

Hmmm… why would Gwyneth think Brad was too good for her? Of course there was no elaboration on that- LOL. She added that her father was “devastated” when they split. Gwyneth said that today they were on “friendly” terms, but they “don’t hang out.” So what happened with Ben?

He was not in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend. I think that when you’re in your twenties, you can get swept up in [good looks]. When you’re a kid, you tend to be more shallow and you’re also immature, so you think that being with a good looking person validates yourself in some kind of way. It’s not true.”

Unlike with Brad, Gwyneth said her parents liked Ben but were fine when they split.

I think they appreciated how he’s super intelligent and he’s really talented and funny. They loved him, but they were okay with us not being together.”

Ouch? Well, it worked out for the best: Ben’s happily married to Jennifer Garner, and Gwyneth said she has no regrets about her marriage to Chris Martin. One regret she does have is the announcement of their split and using the term “conscious uncoupling.”

I made a mistake. I didn’t give it context. But it is a goofy term.”

Yeah, the term is pretty weird- LOL.
