This could be its own movie if you think about it. A production company needs to use a jail so all the prisoners have to relocate for a short time. Word makes its way to the street and everyone’s friends attempt to break out the jailbirds during the ride to their temporary residence. Heck – Mel Gibson could even star in it!
Ok back to the actual post. Mel has a new film coming out which really did have to move over 200 prisoners from their jail to 4 new ones all around Mexico. ‘How I Spent My Summer Vacation’ is a movie that he wrote and now stars in and is causing great controversy because friends and family are angry that they have to travel further to see their imprisoned loved ones.
Those transported during the operation have been held on murder, robbery, drug trafficking, kidnapping and other serious charges. Each of the prisoners were moved overnight at around 3am and were met with massive protests.
In ‘How I Spent My Summer Vacation’, Mel portrays a career criminal caught in Mexico and placed in a tough prison, learning to survive after a nine-year-old boy offers him help.
The film is due for release in 2011.
Should a film have this much pull? They are basically inconveniencing hundreds of families for several months so they can have the jail all to themselves.
