Phaedra Parks ‘RHOA’ Star Defends Decision To Skip Apollo Nida’s Sentencing

We already know ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ cast member Phaedra Parks skipped husband Apollo Nida’s sentencing hearing after he pled guilty to fraud. Apollo himself didn’t hide his bitterness about it, saying in interviews that the marriage was likely over because of it before he reported to prison. We all got to actually SEE Phaedra skip the sentencing, however, in the premiere of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ last night, however. Although Phaedra said she skipped the sentencing, and took their two young sons to a hotel, to avoid the paparazzi and protect her sons, some of the ‘RHOA’ shots indicated paparazzi weren’t exactly swarming the house and, maybe, it wouldn’t have been so tough for her to attend the hearing. She explained her decision in her Bravo blog.

I’ve been criticized for not being at Apollo’s hearing, but the truth is I had been there for him in so many ways for such a long time. By the time all of this went down, it was apparent the marriage was over and my focus needed to be exclusively on the wellbeing of our children. I don’t think there’s a parent out there who wouldn’t agree.

Well,it’s not exactly surprising that Phaedra felt this way by the time the sentencing occurred. I think what’s shocking to, well, pretty much everyone is how she, an attorney, got involved with Apollo in the first place. He’d just been released from prison when they got together in 2009. She married him and starting having kids with him within a year or two of that? It just seems like a… surprising move. I’ve gotta ask…
