‘LOL’-ing at Site’s Latest Ridiculous Miley Cyrus Rumor

HollywoodLife has had trouble distinguishing movies from reality before, so it’s not a total surprise when the site implies that a movie romance must also be happening off screen.

That’s the notion behind the outlet’s latest daydream: Miley Cyrus only reunited with Liam Hemsworth because her LOL co-star Douglas Booth stayed loyal to his girlfriend.

Over the summer, “sources” told HollywoodLife that Cyrus split with Hemsworth “because she was crushing” on Booth.

“But as soon as the movie wrapped on Sept. 7, the Hannah Montana starlet ran back into Liam’s waiting arms,” observes the site.

“Coincidence? We think not,” says HollywoodLife.

Um, actually, we think yes.

Rather than looking at events and offering the (perfectly reasonable) explanation that Cyrus and Hemsworth paired up again after LOL because they could spend more time together and had resolved their differences, HollywoodLife thinks it just means Cyrus failed to break up her co-star’s relationship.

“Although Miley and Liam are solid right now — they’re even living together,” concludes the site, “We can’t wait to see what happens with this love triangle resumes at LOL promotion time!”

A few points.

First, Cyrus and Hemsworth are not living together. Apparently, HollywoodLife not only missed Gossip Cop’s bust of that rumor, but also the video of Cyrus herself debunking it.

Second, there is no “love triangle.” There are two happy relationships — the one between Cyrus and Hemsworth, and the one between Booth and his girlfriend.

Finally, trying to start a controversy for all three stars after acknowledging how “solid” Cyrus and Hemsworth are at the moment is just plain lame.

In other words, HollywoodLife is doing what it does best.
