Toy Story 3 is now the top-grossing animated film in history.
On Friday, Disney announced that the movie has earned $920 million worldwide, passing the $919.8 million Shrek 2 had totaled to set the record.
Toy Story 3 is also only the second movie in Disney history to pass $400 million in North America, joining Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
“In 1995, the talented team at Pixar introduced a cowboy, a space ranger and their friends who have gone on to become some of the most beloved characters in the world,” said studio chairman Rich Ross of the franchise that kicked off an astonishingly successful Pixar run.
When Toy Story 3 opened #1 at the box office in June, it became the 11th Disney/Pixar movie to debut in the top spot.
