Remember her? She made it to the top four of last seasons American Idol. Its been over a month since the 17-year-old released her first album, Just Like You, and shes doing pretty well.
Shes polished her look since her teen grunge days at Idol. Talk about the wonders of a stylist and a Hollywood makeover! Watch her video, Friday Ill Be Over You, and youll see what I mean.
Although shes going for the familiar Avril Lavigne-meets-Pink sprinkled with Disney pop-rock elements, its Allison Iraheta’s voice that gives her the edge. Her strong, raspy vocals can stand out from your usual MTV menu. Theres absolutely no need to mask her voice with layers and synthesizers to make it sound decent. Cmon, you know every other popstar does that! To quote Paula Abdul, If they ever do a biopic on Janis Joplin, youve got the role.
Her album Just Like You features 13 pop-rock tracks that may remind you of Kelly Clarksons pop-rock hits, except that Allisons songs are about the perils of being a teenager. She is 17 after all.

People have been comparing the two for months now. Both dress outrageously. Both have distinct styles. Both go against mainstream ideology. Both have pop hits.
Although Gagas success is way ahead of Ke$has (and yes, her name is spelled with a dollar sign), fans and critics are guessing that Ke$ha could be the one to dethrone Lady Gaga.
This weeks Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart gave Ke$ha fans something to smile about. Ke$has debut hit TiK ToK took the #1 spot from Lady Gagas Bad Romance, which is now #2. Heads up, Gaga!
