Nicole Richie just got a nice (belated) wedding gift.

Her probation, stemming from a DUI bust in 2006, was just terminated ahead of schedule.

Richie’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, showed the judge that the reality star successfully fulfilled her probation terms, including receiving praise from her alcohol education program.

Though Richie’s probation was set to end in February, the judge decided she satisfied all of its terms and terminated it early.

Eddie Murphy is the latest victim of a sick, FAKE death hoax.

According to yet another gross prank from Global Associated News, “Actor Eddie Murphy is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today -December 29, 2010.”

Murphy is NOT dead.

The FAKE report claimed that while at a ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland, “Murphy lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed… Murphy was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash.”

So, does this rumor sound familiar?

It should.

Much like yesterday’s rumor about Adam Sandler having died – and the same disgusting rumor three days ago about Charlie Sheen – this is NOT TRUE.

His rep tells Gossip Cop, “The last place Eddie would be is snowboarding in Switzerland. He’s alive and well.”

Two weeks ago, there was an equally vile death prank about Morgan Freeman, and this morning there was a death hoax about Aretha Franklin.

These hoaxes have happened many times before.

They’re not funny. They’re not cool. They’re not entertaining.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Gossip Cop is at a total loss as to why anyone would concoct phony fatalities, and sincerely hopes the only thing that dies out are these horrible hoaxes.

“Is Taylor Swift just using Jake Gyllenhaal to make her ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner, jealous?” begins a piece in In Touch.

A supposed “friend” of the singer tells the mag that over a year after they broke up, Swift is “not over [Lautner] yet” and “wants him back.”

Now Swift is using Gyllenhaal, says the tab, “in hopes of making the Twilight star come back to her.”

The so-called “friend” of the singer claims that while Swift “likes” the Brokeback Mountain actor, “She would dump him in a minute if Taylor would take her back.”

Is Swift really “still carrying a torch” for her former Valentine’s Day costar?

Not in the least.

Swift and Lautner, who dated for a few months and split in 2009, have remained friends, a source close to the singer tells Gossip Cop, adding she’s perfectly “happy” with Gyllenhaal.

This week brings another reminder of why no one ever confuses the National Enquirer with TV Guide.

According to the Enquirer, newly single Eva Longoria has told friends that A&E is “set to green-light a show based on her endlessly dramatic real life.”

The alleged reality series would “document her push to reassemble her life after a broken marriage” and could even feature pals like Mario Lopez and Jamie Foxx.

It would be pretty big news if “Desperate Housewives” star Longoria let cameras capture her real, day-to-day life.

Of course, it’s NOT TRUE.

“This is total b.s.” a rep for Longoria tells Gossip Cop.

The Enquirer – so “desperate” and so wrong.

Someone should buy Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth a subscription to Star magazine as a gag gift for their wedding.

One day after the happy couple announced their engagement, the tabloid claims Toth has discovered that Witherspoon’s “controlling ways aren’t always so easy to live with,” leading to “growing pains” in the relationship.

What’s allegedly driving Toth nuts?

A litany of supposed Witherspoon household rules, including “no sleeping in on Sundays” and “no open soda cans or foil-wrapped leftovers in the fridge.”

Uh-huh.

Yeah, these purported problems created such “growing pains” for the couple, they decided to get married – which Star completely missed.

An insider tells Gossip Cop the entire story is “ridiculous.”

As is often the case, the only “painful” thing here is Star’s stab at reporting.

Though many of those other, inferior news sources suggested Brett Farve, the Packer traitor, Minnesota Viking Quarterback and all around Penis-shower wouldn’t be punished for those all too classy dick shots, guess what? He will be fined! FINED, I SAY!

Foxsports.com reports that Favre will be fined about 50,000 bucks and one nutsack by the NFL.  The Superficial, along with myself,  is sort of happy and sort of appalled.  I mean, Favre’s a big effing dick, but he’s not a rapist.  Does he deserve to sit out a couple of games? Sure.  Does he have thousands of dollars to pay for this fine? Probably? But he didn’t rape anyone with his dick, he just raped some eyelids via cell phone.
