David Letterman explains on tonight’s “Late Show” that he was “duped” into believing Lindsay Lohan was going to do tomorrow’s “Top Ten” list.

The late-night talk show host says he did a joke last week about “Lohan stealing a Grammy award,” and afterwards received a call from a guy who said, “Lindsay thought that joke was hilarious… She wants to be on your show.”

Letterman says he then exclaimed “Great!” and right away called CBS’ publicity department and told them “get the press release out immediately.”

But as the funnyman notes, Lohan later said it wasn’t true  – something the actress told Gossip Cop late last night.

Letterman admits, “I have no one to blame but myself, and boy is my face is red.”

“I hope I didn’t embarrass you Lindsay and your family,” ends Letterman in his apology on the video below.

“Glee” has broken Elvis Presley’s record for the most singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

With the latest addition of six more tunes from the Fox show, “Glee” now has a total of 113 singles that have made the Hot 100 chart, compared to Presley’s 108 hits.

During its record climb, “Glee” passed a number of other major acts with numerous Hot 100 singles, including James Brown (91) and The Beatles (71).

Michael Vick has canceled his sit-down appearance with Oprah.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, whose NFL comeback followed a jail sentence for dog fighting, had been set to sit down with the animal-loving talk queen for a major interview.

“After careful consideration, I will need to postpone the taping of the Oprah Winfrey interview scheduled for February 22,” Vick said in a statement.

“I admire and respect Oprah and hope to be able to participate in an interview in the future.”

So far, that future date has not been set.

In Touch magazine is reporting that Lady Gaga is “headed for a breakdown.”

According to the tab, the singer is “locked up in her studio and barely does anything else except work.”

A source tells In Touch that Gaga – set to release the album “Born This Way” in a few months – is “very stressed out right now.”

Added to that, on the personal front Lady Gaga and boyfriend Luc Carl are “going through a rocky patch,” claims the mag, which quotes a “friend” of hers as saying, “She feels Luc is only with her because of her fame and fortune.”

In Touch goes on to say Lady Gaga has been drinking and smoking a lot and “acting increasingly bizarre.”

But other than her famously “bizarre” stage theatrics, the superstar has not been in any kind of spiral.

Gossip Cop looked into a number of the tab’s claims, and they didn’t hold up.

Though the singer does put a ton of time and effort into her work, she’s not “headed for a breakdown,” as the mag says. Nor does Gaga actually believe her relationship with Luc Carl is based on her “fame and fortune.”

A rep for Gaga tells Gossip Cop there is “zero truth” to In Touch’s story.

Gaga hardly looked like she was going to crash when she appeared two nights ago on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Halle Berry just won a victory in her ongoing custody struggle with Gabriel Aubry.

A judge granted Berry permission to shoot the movie New Year’s Eve in New York – and to take the couple’s daughter Nahla with her.

Aubry had challenged Berry’s cross-country trip with Nahla, but, after hearing arguments from both sides, the court gave Berry the green light.

Before today’s judgment, Berry had ceded her role in the film to Katherine Heigl in order to stay in Los Angeles and deal with the custody issues.

She’ll reportedly now play another role in New Year’s Eve.

The battle over Nahla has become particularly ugly in recent weeks.

Aubry has now withdrawn his custody petition, but is pursuing a paternity action.

“Victoria Beckham spends $200,000 on her ‘French bunnies’ themed nursery!” blares HollywoodLife.

The site goes on to say that in addition to already shelling out $200,000 to decorate her nursery, the former Spice Girl - pregnant with her fourth child – is now “in the works to buy a $1.3k ‘French Bunnies’ round cot with hand-carved woodwork.”

“What’s with celebrities going money crazy when it comes to their baby’s nursery?” the site editorializes, adding, “Hey guys, your child doesn’t know the difference between Babies R Us and Chanel.”

Sort of like how HollywoodLife doesn’t know the difference between a true and untrue story.

Gossip Cop took a whole five minutes to check out this expensive bunny tale, and it’s completely made-up. Not a hare of truth.

Posh’s rep also tells us it’s simply “not true at all.”

A rumor spreading on both sides of the Atlantic claims Inception star Tom Hardy and his fiancee Charlotte Riley have split.

“Tom and Charlotte broke up last month,” one “source” tells Metro. “He has been calling her a lot to try and patch things up.”

According to the report, a Hardy-Riley split may have been the reason behind Hardy’s absence from last week’s BAFTA ceremony, where he was set to pick up an award.

So did Hardy break his date with the BAFTAs after Riley broke his heart?

Nope.

Gossip Cop can confirm that the “personal commitments” Hardy cited as his reason for missing the ceremony had nothing to do with any romantic troubles.

A source close to Hardy tells Gossip Cop it’s “incorrect that they split.”
