Lady Gaga is being sued in a $5 million class action suit for allegedly scamming a Japan relief charity.
The singer said on her website that all proceeds from the sale of the “We Pray For Japan” wristbands were going to the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
But a Michigan law firm says that’s not true.
According to the lawsuit filed by 1-800-Law-Firm, Gaga sold the bracelets for $5, plus $3.99 for shipping and handling, and 60 cents for taxes, but jacked up the price of the shipping costs in an effort to pocket the extra money.
The federal suit also claims Gaga never disclosed how much of the $5 bracelets was actually going to Japan relief, even though she included the money she allegedly pocketed as part of her claimed donation.
The lawsuit says Lady Gaga violated a number of federal racketeering laws as well as consumer protection laws from the alleged scam.
“I’m suing Lady Gaga simply to hold her accountable for giving the money that she was raising for charity to the cause that she was trying to raise it for,” said Ari Kresch, a 1-800-Law-Firm attorney.
His colleague Alyson Oliver adds, “When we tried to communicate with the defendants in this lawsuit, all we got was, ‘well, some of the money is being retained, but we don’t really know how much.’”
Last night, Gaga performed at the MTV Video Music Aid Japan show in Tokyo.

Howie Kohlenberg, who appeared on the very first episode of Jerry Seinfeld’s “The Marriage Ref,” is blaming the NBC show for the breakup of his marriage.
Kohlenberg says that after he and his wife, Christine, fought on the program — which begins its second season tonight — she became fixated on cashing in on their appearance and becoming a reality star, while ditching their 14-year marriage and young son in the process.
“Jerry, Mr. Billionaire, I blame. And his show,” says Kohlenberg, who claims he’s now bankrupt and facing eviction.
Kohlenberg explains to the New York Post that he and his ex appeared on “The Marriage Ref” to “drum up some business” for their now out-of-business spa in New York. “They promised to promote the spa on air. They didn’t.”
“Our arguments were always over the business,” notes Kohlenberg, “but the argument they [producers] wanted [to present on-air] was that I took my wedding ring off when I played basketball…Â It wasn’t necessarily a true angle because she really didn’t care if I took it off or not.”
He adds, ”The people on the show were pumping us up, saying, ‘You’re going to wake up and be stars. You’re going to be famous and make money.’ The producer kept saying her lips looked great, and all of a sudden she was getting a lot of Botox… Now she’s getting this huge head. She wants to do Playboy.”
Kohlenberg acknowledges, “I’m not saying our marriage was perfect, but it put it in a whole new direction…Â She had all these ideas that ‘I have to live my life and be an actress.’”
Next, says Kohlenberg, his wife flew off to L.A., where she had a bit part in a film called Chakra Love, and then moved in with a Canadian producer.
She also appeared in a reality show pilot titled “Shopaholics.”
“Everybody thinks reality shows are glamorous — you’re going to get rich, and it’s going to be the next ‘Jersey Shore,’” says Kohlenberg. “They make you jump through hoops, the bottom line is they don’t give a s- – t. You’re just another number.”
According to the spurned husband, “The headline should read, ‘Jerry Seinfeld ruined my life: the danger of reality shows.’”
A rep for Seinfeld declined to comment.
What do you think of Kohlenberg’s claims.

Justin Bieber made good on President Obama’s promise to Payton Wall, a 14-year-old who lost her father on 9/11, and explained in a letter to the President how the singer’s music helped her overcome the horrible tragedy.
Six weeks ago, in a piece titled “Obama Makes Another Promise He Won’t Be Able to Keep,†New York Magazine doubted Obama would follow through on his promise to arrange the meeting between the young girl and Bieber.
But the singer followed through.
On Thursday, shortly after Bieber was knocked down outside of Macy’s, he met privately with Wall, her sister Avery, and best friend Madison Roberson, whose dads worked at Cantor Fitzgerald when the Twin Towers were attacked.
“It was so cool. I couldn’t believe it,” Payton told the New York Post of her meeting with Bieber.
Payton, who was wearing the superstar’s new fragrance, “Someday,” said she was more nervous about meeting Bieber than Obama at Ground Zero last month.
She also said Bieber asked “about the perfume and if we were wearing it.”
“He was really nice and is so cute,” added Peyton’s sister Avery. “He didn’t even look real.”
What do you think of Bieber following through on Obama’s promise?

Tracy Morgan was back onstage last night in New York, the first time since his homophobic rant in Nashville a little more than three weeks ago.
Just five days after the “30 Rock” star returned to Nashville to personally apologize for his anti-gay comments, Morgan told the audience at Caroline’s comedy club, “I’m mellow tonight.â€
Hardly.
Morgan spewed a series of raw jokes about masturbation, female body parts, and oral sex.
Then, three-quarters of an hour in, Morgan stopped and said, “I know you’re waiting for me to address the controversy. I ain’t sayin’ s–t.”
Still, at the end of the show, which was warmly received, Morgan told the crowd:  “Gay, straight… I don’t care. As long as you’re happy.”

Mariah Carey says her newborn baby girl is a diva already — and she’s not even two months old yet.
The singer snapped a picture of her daughter, Monroe, who promptly put her hand in front of her face and in the camera’s lens to shield herself.
Carey tweeted, along the (thwarted) photo: “This is baby Monroe saying ‘no pictures dahhhhling’ at 7+1/2 weeks..oh dear :).”
Carey and husband Nick Cannon welcomed their twin son, Moroccan, and daughter, Monroe, on April 30.
Where on earth would a child like that learn such diva behavior?
