Katy showed off her passion for fashion on Saturday night, as she donned a strapless gold number that sparkled and shined as she greeted her fans and posed for pics on the press line.

With her new flick set to hit theaters later this week, I have to ask, are you going to check it out over the holiday weekend?

Even more creepy details are emerging in the divorce case between Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. And as weird as it’s already gotten, with talk of Scientology ‘security checks’ for 6-year old Suri, I think it’s going to get a lot weirder before it calms down. Case in point, new information is emerging that Katie is being followed by large, intimidating men driving a black Mercedes SUV and a white Escalade. According to multiple sources, the surveillance has been going on for several weeks, although it’s unclear whether it’s being directed by Tom or the Church of Scientology itself.

Also unclear is why they’d need to follow her; the time-frame for the surveillance roughly corresponds to when Katie first rented the apartment in New York City that she and Suri are now moved into. Whoever these guys are, it’s super creepy, and won’t do Tom any favors when and if he tries to file a competing claim with Katie for sole custody of Suri. There’s a lot of complicated legal-ese to it, but basically if one parent can prove that the other parent is being shady, it improves the chances of the less-shady parent getting sole custody. And I think we can all agree that Tom is the shadier of two shadies, in this case.

Regardless, like I’ve said before, I’m just crossing my fingers that Katie spills the beans on the whole thing and we get to learn about all the creepy Scientology ceremonies that Tom put his family through. But I also want her and Suri to be safe, and not tailed around the city by robo-cops, so maybe it’s better if she keeps her mouth shut, at least for now.

And now here’s hoping I don’t walk out my door right now and get whisked into an unmarked van to have my brain wiped of any negative words, thoughts, or associations with Scientology. Fingers crossed.

Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music crew opened the 2012 BET Awards with a bang on Sunday.

After Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz made their way through the group’s “Mercy,” West himself came out to perform “Cold” and then launched into a freestyle touching on everything from Whitney Houston to LeBron James to Rodney King.

As the rapper left the stage to roars and applause, his girlfriend Kim Kardashian could be seen clapping in the audience.

It sounds like Scientology is going to figure prominently in Tom Cruise’s and Katie Holmes’ divorce no matter what, with allegations that Scientology is having Katie followed. However, one thing Katie can NOT do is use Tom’s membership to Scientology as a reason to get sole custody of their daughter, Suri. The US government recognizes Scientology as a religion, and a parent’s religious affiliation cannot be used to deny that person custody of his/her child, according to divorce attorneys who spoke to Radar Online. It’s unconstitutional. However, there’s still a way. One attorney  explained:

“If there are tenets in the religion that spell out certain ways to raise a child and Katie doesn’t feel that’s working for Suri, maybe because she’s acting out a lot, or not doing well in school, or has developmental issues, then that would be what she uses – the litmus test would be what is in the best interest of the child.”

[Another attorney added]: “If any parent’s religion impacts on that parent’s ability to act in the child’s best interest, then that’s going to be a factor for consideration. But in and of itself, how someone practices religion, should not matter. It is only down to whether a parent interacts with the child positively or negatively. If the religion of the parents causes it to be negative then that needs to be looked at.”

I’ve heard stories here and there about Scientology practices, but I don’t know the organization’s childrearing philosophies or practices. But if they’re unusual enough and Tom practices them, then it sounds like that’s what Katie will rely on in court, especially if she can get experts (like child psychologists) to testify that the Scientology practices are detrimental.
