SIGNS are that the Daily Express is locked in a weather war with its tartier stablemate the Daily Star.

The Express kicks things off with 75 degrees.

The Star has 77 degrees – and it is an “EXCLUSIVE”:

The Express raises that to 81 degrees –  but that is NOT an exclusive.

The Daily Mirror saw that 81 and raised it to 82 degrees.

CHRIS Martin was recently spotted on an intimate “date” with Alexa Chung.

The rocker — who split from Gwyneth Paltrow earlier this year — was seen with fellow Brit Chung in a New York City bar on May 6.

“When I arrived, about 9:15pm, they were tucked away in a dark corner of the back room of the bar,” a source told Britain’s Heat magazine.

Martin 37, and Chung, 30, were on what “looked like a date,” according to the report.

“I spotted them straight away and asked Chris ‘Are you a singer?’ He just laughed and said ‘Yes, but not tonight,” the eyewitness said.

“He was a really nice guy – he shook my hand and didn’t care that he was being recognized.

“Chris and Alexa seemed to know each other really well. They were both in a great mood and even asked us to watch their bags when they went out for a cigarette. It definitely looked like a date to me.“

Paltrow, 41, is fully aware of the relationship — and isn’t threatened by the younger woman, according to an insider.

“She’s been telling people she ‘doesn’t care’ because she’s a big star and Alexa isn’t even on TV anymore,” the insider said.

“Alexa’s being very cool, chilled and understanding, letting him have his space and deal with his soon-to-be-ex-wife until they’ve filed the divorce papers.

“She doesn’t want to hassle or pressure him in any way.”

Justin Bieber is at the center of an attempted robbery investigation after allegedly trying to steal a woman’s cell phone, the Los Angeles Police Department confirms.

According to TMZ, the singer was in an “altercation” with a group of people at the Sherman Oaks Castle Park’s batting cages on Monday, when Bieber confronted an uninvolved woman for seemingly trying to take pictures.

The woman alleges that when she refused Bieber’s requests to hand over her phone, he went directly into her purse to take it, leading to a tussle before the performer supposedly “ripped it out of her hands.”

When Bieber supposedly handed back the phone after discovering it was locked, the woman showed that she had not taken any photos, and reportedly said that she and her 13-year-old daughter had just wanted to say hello.

Bieber allegedly screamed, ”You’re humiliating yourself in front of your daughter. Why don’t you just get out of here?” and the teen began crying before he supposedly started yelling at another individual.

The woman has filed a complaint report with the LAPD, which is currently investigating whether Bieber’s alleged actions amount to a crime.
