Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton are not on the verge of splitting. A suspicious claim about the couple’s marriage surfaced this week, but Gossip Cop can debunk the allegation. In fact, a rep for the Oscar winner exclusively tells us the divorce speculation is “garbage.”
“THE NEXT SPLIT?” reads a headline from Naughty Gossip, which contends, “A new report says that Cate Blanchett’s marriage may be DOOMED.” Tellingly, the sketchy webloid does not name the report to which it is supposedly referring. And a Google search indicates that nothing with such a contention has been published recently. Still, the site alleges, “Insiders say Cate and her husband have been leading ‘separate lives” and barely see each other.”
One so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “It’s almost like he doesn’t exist anymore.” Adds the outlet, “Cate’s hubby was also photographed last year getting ‘very close’ to a female friend. NOT good.” You know what’s actually not good? Half-baked stories like this one.
It is true that Upton was photographed with another actress, Harriet Dyer, in October of 2016, but the pictures were taken at a social gathering with other people. There was no lasting impact on his marriage. In fact, Blanchett and Upton were subsequently seen engaging in PDA on multiple occasions. It also true that the couple sometimes spends time apart. This is a consequence of their stage and film careers, which often require them to be in different places. Of course, that’s the case for virtually every couple working in show business. It is not a sign that their nearly 20-year marriage is suddenly now “doomed.”
In other words, Naughty Gossip doesn’t have any solid evidence to back up its speculation that Blanchett and Upton will be the “next split” of the celebrity world. To top it off, Blanchett’s spokesperson completely dismissed the claim to Gossip Cop, calling it “garbage.” And, by the way, the above picture of the couple smiling together was just taken on Sunday.
While this is the first time Gossip Cop has had to bust a report concerning the actress’ marriage, it is not the first time she’s been the subject of bad dish. Nearly a year ago, we refuted untrue claims about a feud between Blanchett and Anne Hathaway. And this past March, Starridiculously accused Blanchett of being mean to the cast and crew of the Broadway play, The Present, which Upton adapted. At this point, Gossip Cop wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to be mean to the tabloids and webloids of the gossip world.

As Gossip Cop reported, in July Bennington was found dead of an apparent suicide at the age of 41. His death came on the same day his close friend Chris Cornell, who died earlier this year, would have turned 53. In addition to six children and various other loved ones, Bennington left behind five devoted band mates: Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Joseph Hahn, Rob Bourdon and Dave Farrell. Following his shocking passing, the group canceled its “One More Light Tour” and largely retreated from the spotlight.
It was a few days before Linkin Park collectively released a statement. They then started the One More Light Fund in Bennington’s memory, founding the organization to raise awareness about mental illness. Fan-driven memorials sprang up across the globe, and in late August, the band announced the tribute concert, which marks their first performance since Bennington’s death. The event comes shortly after the release of Linkin Park’s “Carpool Karaoke” installment for Apple Music, which was filmed just days before the singer died.
The show, called “Linkin Park and Friends Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington,” is taking place at the Hollywood Bowl. The group partnered with YouTube so that fans around the world will be able to watch. While the concert is expected to feature a number of special guest artists, the specific set list has been kept under wraps. Shinoda tweeted on Wednesday, “Busy week preparing for this.” And hours before the event, Farrell took to Instagram to share a message with the “worldwide community of friends and fans of Linkin Park.”
Alongside a photo of mementos and treats, he wrote, “I continue to be overwhelmed by the love and support you have extended to me and the band over the past few months. This came this morning from the Executive Pastry Chef at the hotel Where I’m staying. To all of you who have been so thoughtful, gracious, and kind, I wish there was a better, or more sincere way to say ‘thank you…’
He went on, “Grief comes in waves. There are stretches of time that feel normal, happy, and peaceful. There are stretches that carry an underlying, dull pain. Today feels different. It hurts. It’s a sharper pain than what I’ve become used to, a larger wave. I don’t know what to expect tonight, but I know that it’s significant. It’s a marker of sorts in my life… a night I will always remember.”
“This evening I invite you all to laugh with us, cry with us, look back at the good times we’ve all shared, look forward to the good times ahead, and Celebrate Life,” Farrell concluded, adding, “Thank You All For All Your Kindness.” The live stream is slated to start at 10:30 p.m. Eastern. Taylor Swift is not “copying” Kim Kardashian’s style, despite a ridiculous report which wrongly claims the singer is purposely “channeling” the reality star. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.
According to the perpetually disproven HollywoodLife, and without a single source to back up its claim, Swift is “taking a page out of Kardashian’s fashion book.” Its evidence? The singer was recently photographed with her friend wearing a “camouflage jacket, an army-colored body suit and a black miniskirt,” which looked a “lot like an outfit Kim had previously worn to one of Kanye’s New York Fashion Week shows.” The untrustworthy website goes on to speculate that Swift might “just be a fan of camouflage,” but her outfit could be sending “some sort of subliminal message” to Kardashian. The bad blog concludes, “It’s very possible Taylor was purposely mimicking Kim’s style.”
Let Gossip Cop explain what’s really going on here. When we investigated, a source told us that Swift’s outfit in her friend’s photo has nothing to do with Kardashian. Additionally, our reputable insider adds that HollywoodLies, a nicknamed its earned because of its penchant for posting fake news, is majorly “reaching” by accusing the singer of copying the reality star’s fashion sense. The story, which was clearly designed to dupe readers, is all made-up.
Of course, this isn’t the first time HollywoodLife has posted a bogus report about Kardashian and her supposed “rival.” Remember, Gossip Cop corrected the unreliable outlet in August for ridiculously asserting that Kardashian was “fighting for followers” with Swift on Instagram. And just yesterday, we called out the website for falsely claiming that Kardashian was “curious” to hear Swift’s new album. Much like those untrue and manufactured stories, this latest one is similarly laughable.

Kate Middleton is not “pregnant with twin girls.” She’s not having twins, period. Gossip Cop can bust this inaccurate claim for the second time.
On Wednesday, Life & Stylepublished a cover story falsely announcing pregnant Middleton is having twins. In the article, it was specifically claimed the babies are identical twin girls. But within hours of the issue hitting newsstands, Gossip Cop spoke with Kensington Palace and received official confirmation that the assertions were untrue. Middleton is carrying just one baby.
So, what does HollywoodLife do? Regurgitate the untrue allegations, of course, one day later. Quoting from the tabloid, the webloid refers to a “royal insider” saying, “Kate and William were both shocked when they found out.” The site goes on to repeat various other contentions from the gossip magazine, such as Prince William’s supposed concern that “Kate will be taking on too much once the twins are born.” All the while, though, the outlet has no idea if these assertions are correct.
In fact, the second paragraph of the online publication’s story begins with, “If the report is true.” Stop right there. If HollywoodLies, a purported news outlet, doesn’t know if the report is true or false, then why pick it up in the first place? Gossip Cop would venture the webloid didn’t care about accurately informing readers with real news. In fact, the site ends by asking, “HollywoodLifers, do you think Kate is actually expecting twins?” Um, how should they know? The outlet is supposed to be informing readers, not the other way around.
But HollywoodLies, as is so often the case, was apparently more concerned with capitalizing on potential traffic from interest in this subject than first figuring out if there’s any merit to the tabloid’s claims. If the webloid was a legitimate news enterprise, it would’ve first fact-checked the allegations, either by investigating with Kensington Palace or seeing if any reliable publications corroborated the “twin girls” assertions. With a little research, the site would’ve seen that Kensington Palace set the record straight, via Gossip Cop, a day before it picked up the untrue cover story.
What makes this all the more ridiculous is that in its post, HollywoodLies included Kensington Palace’s tweet from last month, in which it formally announced, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child.” Note that the statement says “third child,” not “third and fourth children.” Gossip Cop previously caught the web publication exploiting Middleton’s pregnancy with made-up “exclusives.” Now by running the falsehoods about the Duchess expecting twins, the outlet has proven what Gossip Cop has said all along: HollywoodLies doesn’t know what it’s talking about. And that’s especially important to keep in mind if the site suddenly flip-flops in a few days and magically claims it “exclusively” learned “the truth.”
A new story about how Meghan Markle is “excited” to become a member of the royal family is entirely made-up. Gossip Cop can correct this bogus fabrication, which was posted by a repeat offender.
Of course, the allegation was concocted by the serial fabricators at HollywoodLife. According to the often disproven website, which is routinely caught spreading fake news about the “Suits” actress, Markle is “super excited” about becoming a royal. In the tall tale, a so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Meghan is freaking out about becoming royalty. She can’t wait for the official [engagement] announcement and to join the family.” Adds the outlet’s most-assuredly fake tipster, “[Prince Harry] already talked to her parents, asked permission and she met his family, including the Queen, so everything is set to be made public as soon as next month.”
But Gossip Cop investigated the report, and we’re not remotely surprised by the inauthenticity of the website’s newest article. Remember, we corrected HollywoodLies, a nicknamed its earned because of its penchant for posting lies, when it falsely claimed that Markle and Prince Harry had Queen Elizabeth’s full support. In that story, the untrustworthy outlet put together a supposed “exclusive” after numerous outlets reported that the star had met the Queen earlier this month. As we pointed out at the time, a legitimate royal insider would never share any details about the royal family with an unreliable U.S. gossip site.
While it’s not out of the question to assume that Markle would be excited about becoming a member of the royal family, no one is talking to HollywoodLife about the star’s feelings. And as we’ve noted before, the bad blog seemingly has no reliable palace sources, leaving the site with no other option but to fabricate its tales in the name of online traffic. The story is 100 percent made-up.

The Weeknd has not been inspired to apologize to Bella Hadid for their 2016 breakup after his girlfriend Selena Gomez recently reconnected as friends with Justin Bieber, despite a fabricated report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this made-up story. The claim was seemingly manufactured in an effort to capitalize on the news of Bieber and Gomez’s reunion.
HollywoodLife, a website that tends to take real events and weave them with fake scenarios, now alleges “The Weeknd wants to make amends” with Hadid after having seen Gomez “reuniting with her ex Justin Bieber.” The outlet maintains it has a “source close to” The Weeknd who allegedly says, “Now that Selena and Justin are talking again, [he] feels inspired to reconnect with Bella and reestablish a friendship with her.” The same so-called “source” adds that The Weeknd “feels like he owes Bella an apology” and “hopes they can talk it all out” because the model will “always hold a dear place in his heart.”
The website goes on to write, “Although there was no reason given for their split, there is some speculation that their demanding schedules were to blame.” And after noting, as widely reported, that Bieber was “spotted spending time over [at] Selena’s house” on Sunday, HollywoodLies, as it’s often called, states that while The Weeknd wasn’t able to join them, “there have been reports that he is totally cool with the former lovebirds hanging out.” Wait a minute! If the outlet truly based its latest article on information from a “source close to” The Weeknd, wouldn’t that person know the reason for his and Hadid’s split and not have to cite “speculation”? And why would the blog have to say “there have been reports” The Weeknd is “totally cool” with Gomez and Bieber reuniting” if HollywoodLife actually had a “source close to” him?
The reason is simple: The habitually disproven site made up this fabricated story about The Weeknd being “inspired” by Gomez and Bieber to reconnect with Hadid. In fact, it strongly appears HollywoodLies doesn’t really have a “source close to” The Weeknd at all. In the real world, for example, the model’s mother, Yolanda, said on the October 10 episode of “Watch What Happens Live” that her daughter doesn’t care anymore about The Weeknd dating Gomez. And even Hadid herself told Teen Vogue earlier in the year that her breakup was “hard for a while,” but she hasn’t entirely blotted The Weeknd out because “you never want to burn a bridge that you’ve fought so hard to build.”
Of course, Gossip Cop has been pointing out for nearly a year how the site has been fabricating stories about the Canadian singer, including a bogus report last month about The Weeknd being jealous of Gomez kissing her co-star in the upcoming Woody Allen film. So basically, HollywoodLies maintains The Weeknd was “totally cool” with Gomez reuniting with Bieber while he was out of town, but became extremely “jealous” of his girlfriend kissing another actor in a scripted movie scene? None of it makes sense.
Still, Gossip Cop fact-checks every story. In this instance, we reached out to a number of individuals close to The Weeknd, and not one could verify the outlet’s claims about him being “inspired” to apologize to Hadid after Bieber and Gomez reconnected. For the most part, we were told the site’s article was simply made-up. Perhaps one day HollywoodLies will get “inspired” to stop publishing fabricated articles.
