Kim Kardashian was not “taunting” Taylor Swift when she “liked” a Selena Gomez photo on Instagram, despite a ridiculously speculative claim. The allegation is absurd, which means it fits right in line with some of this webloid’s previous stories about Kardashian and Swift. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.

In late August, HollywoodLife started alleging Kardashian and Swift’s on-and-off feud was spilling over to social media, with the two stars supposedly competing for Instagram followers. The site actually suggested Kardashian purposely posted a bikini photo on Instagram in an attempt to get more followers than Swift. It was a completely inane, unsubstantiated contention. Now the blog is again alleging Kardashian is using the platform to make a strike against Swift.

“Kim Kardashian Liked Selena Gomez’s Blonde Makeover: Taunting Taylor Swift By Liking BFF’s Pic?” the outlet asks in a headline on Monday, further wondering, “Why’s she hanging around her nemesis’ best friend’s Instagram?” The online publication writes, “It can’t be a coincidence that Kim’s liking a photo posted by Taylor Swift’s good friend. Kim and Selena don’t really have a relationship (as far as we know) so it’s a little random that she’d be following her on Instagram. Was this a little shot at her nemesis, Taylor?”

HollywoodLies, as its nicknamed, apparently didn’t consider the opposite possibility. Why couldn’t Kardashian’s liking of Swift’s best friend’s photo be construed as an olive branch? The truth is, the act was neither a peace offering nor a taunt. There is no meaning to Kardashian “liking” Gomez’s picture, one of the least aggressive actions one can take on social media, beyond the fact that the reality star, quite literally, liked the Instagram photo of Gomez’s new hair color. To theorize that Kardashian only “liked” Gomez’s snapshot as some kind of way to diss her “BFF” is just nonsensical.

Of course, no reliable outlet made such a similar claim. But HollywoodLies went there because it likes pitting Swift and Kardashian against each other whenever possible, no matter how flimsy the foundation. The premise here could not be shakier, which is why the webloid has no real reporting to back it up.

Charles Manson is dead.

The murderer and cult leader was 83 years old and had been suffering from gastrointestinal problems for some time.

Manson was found guilty of seven counts of 1st degree murder and one of conspiracy after his so-called Manson Family killed at his behest in 1969, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate, wife of controversial director Roman Polanski.

Sharon’s sister Debra Tate was among those notified of the killer’s death, telling NBC News she received the call around 8:30 p.m. A spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed Manson died at 8:13.

Manson was sentenced to death but narrowly escaped when the death penalty was banned in California in 1972.

The infamous inmate kept his notoriety through the years through TV interviews and made the news again in 2014 when he got engaged to a young fan.

The Tate-LaBianca murders captured the interest of the nation; multiple films have been made about or inspired by Manson and his followers, with another high-profile one on the way.

You won’t find many people mourning the death of the murderer, but fascination with his crimes is likely to live on.

What happened to Justice League this weekend?!

With high fanfare and expectations heading into the the weekend box office, one might have expected the DC Extended Universe‘s mashup to pull in a REALLY big opener, but it just wasn’t in the cards for Justice League, which did just $ 96 million in the United States.

The global box office totals cushioned the hard landing a little bit for the superhero flick, as it did $ 185.5 million overseas — giving it a cumulative $ 281.5 million global launch across all markets.

But domestically, this marked the lowest opening of ANY title in the DC Extended Universe — and that’s a big problem for the superhero contingent as they try to compete with rival Marvel Studios.

For Justice League specifically, it appears poor reviews and a mediocre B+ CinemaScore may have helped do it in… and yet it still finished first overall at the box office this weekend, so it wasn’t all bad!

Coming in second was a bit of a surprise hit: the Stephen Chbosky-directed Wonder, which brought in $ 27.1 million from just over 3,000 theaters across North America.

Thor: Ragnarok came in at a close third place, taking in $ 21.8 million over the weekend in its now third week in theaters.

Rounding out the top five, Daddy’s Home 2 took home $ 14.8 million in fourth place, and Murder on the Orient Express took in $ 13.8 million in its second weekend in theaters.

A bombshell new report out today in the Los Angeles Times accuses Russell Simmons of teaming up with his longtime friend Brett Ratner to engage in alleged sexual harassment and assault of multiple women.

The Times‘ report out today revealed that it wasn’t just Ratner who was allegedly sexually assaulting and harassing women, as were the allegations we’d known about for some time now — but his friend, music mogul Simmons was also involved.

One woman, named Keri Claussen Khalighi, has come forward with a story that when she was 17 years old and working as a fashion model, she had dinner one night in 1991 with Simmons and Ratner after a casting call.

After dinner, the pair took Khalighi to Simmons’ apartment to show her a music video they had been working on, but once they got there, Simmons and Ratner began getting extremely sexually aggressive — and, the model alleges, Simmons ripped off her clothes as Ratner watched.

Khalighi said (below):

“I looked over at Brett and said ‘help me’ and I’ll never forget the look on his face. In that moment, the realization fell on me that they were in it together.”

Wow.

After she fought of Simmons from trying to have sex with her, she eventually was forced to perform oral sex on him.

Later, while showering off to clean herself up, Simmons allegedly walked up behind her and penetrated her without consent, forcing her to jerk away in excruciating pain.

Khalighi actually saw Simmons in WeHo last year, and he approached her and delivered what she called “a really touching, remorseful apology” for his behavior… but Simmons’ attorneys are out to smear the then-17-year-old model, now alleging that apology was in the “context for the embarrassment and upheaval the weekend caused her” because of her supposed “infidelity.”

Absolutely shameful, pitiful, and pathetic by Simmons’ attorneys.

Khalighi also included another important little tidbit: after the Times’ first bombshell story about Ratner came out — he’s being accused of sexual misconduct by nearly a dozen other women now, as well — the model reached out to Simmons in a 27-minute phone call independently verified by the newspaper to tell him she was going to go public.

She said Simmons never denied any of her claims during the call, only opting to apologize and mention that he’s the father of two daughters… as if that makes things better.

Khalighi said:

“They are publicly denying these allegations, which implies that the women who come forward are liars. So I’m coming out because what I’ve experienced privately is not matching what they are saying publicly and hypocrisy to me is repugnant and it’s time for the truth to come out.”

Time for the truth, indeed.

It sounds pretty fuckin’ shitty, and completely wrong and indefensible what Russell Simmons and Brett Ratner are alleged to have done to this woman — PERIOD!

Paris Jackson is not “acting nuts,” nor are there “fears” that she’s having a “breakdown.” This is a highly sensationalized story that is attempting to turn rather innocuous events into signs of a “meltdown.” Gossip Cop debunk the report.

“Paris Jackson Acting Nuts — Again,” announces a headline in the National Enquirer, which contends, “Loony tweets and antics spur new breakdown fears.” Deeming the 19-year-old a “wild child,” the supermarket tabloid alleges she’s exhibiting “bizarre behavior.” As evidence, it points to a tweet Jackson wrote about death earlier this month. She was writing about the loss of a friend, but sent the message unaware that the Texas church shooting had just occurred. The gossip magazine is finding fault with her for that, and maintains she “kicked up another ruckus” by calling out Wendy Williams for bad-mouthing the Jackson family on her talk show. Apparently the teen taking issue with her family repeatedly being used as gossip fodder is also cause for alarm.

In addition, the outlet points to Jackson “making kooky faces” at a horse race in Australia, suggesting that her light-hearted behavior was not a sign she was having fun and hamming it up in front of intrusive cameras but an indication of mental problems. A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “She’s in a weird emotional state.” And after noting that Jackson has confessed to suicide attempts in the past, the tabloid insists “insiders are worried Paris’ weird antics are a sign she’s on the brink of a similar breakdown.” A purported “source” supposedly adds, “It’s like another cry for help.”

But if anyone close to Jackson was truly concerned for her well-being, they would not be discussing the subject with this magazine. Furthermore, the outlet’s only proof that a “meltdown” is allegedly near are tweets and photos that were seen across the world. Yet no reputable publication has looked at those same things and speculated the model is on the verge of a “breakdown.” That’s because there’s nothing really “nuts” about any of it. Jackson even addressed on Twitter the photos of herself at the sporting event after a local paper Down Under cruelly deemed her “Wacko Jacko 2.0.”

“My behaviors? making a face and being playful shouldn’t be an excuse to rip me apart. i’ve done nothing to hurt or offend anyone,” she tweeted. Yet here is the National Enquirer doing exactly that, almost three months after falsely accusing Jackson of “doing drugs” amid a family “crisis.” It’s rather reprehensible. And, for the record, Jackson’s rep tells Gossip Cop there’s no real “breakdown fears,” on top of another close contact also sharing with us, “I don’t believe this to be true nor have I heard that expressed from anyone else close to her.” End of story.

Kanye West skipped Serena Williams’ wedding to “avoid” an “awkward run-in” with Beyonce, according to a wrong report from a webloid that was already caught peddling fake news about Beyonce and the nuptials. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this story, just like we did the prior one.

As Gossip Cop reported, HollywoodLife claimed Beyonce and Kim Kardashian had an “icy exchange” at Williams’ wedding, which took place in New Orleans on Thursday. It was the first time the women were known to be at the same event since Jay-Z and West had a falling-out. Without any evidence to back up its assertion that there was “drama” at the wedding, the site alleged their meeting was “awkward.” The article was primarily based on another outlet reporting Beyonce and Kardashian were drinking together at a bar during the affair, but that original story said nothing about there being “drama” with iciness or awkwardness. That was a completely false spin made up by the site that’s earned the nickname HollywoodLies.

And now the online publication is claiming it has “EXCLUSIVE details” as to why West did not attend. A so-called “Yeezy insider” is quoted as saying, “It was no accident that Kanye chose to avoid Serena’s wedding. Kanye is not particularly close with Serena, or her husband, who are more Kim’s friends so Kanye opted out of what he felt may be an awkward evening for him. Kanye knew that Beyonce, a close friend of Serena’s, would likely be at the wedding which might make for an uncomfortable situation.”

The blog’s supposed source goes on to contend, “Kanye still has a lot of unresolved issues with Beyonce and her husband. So, Kanye told Kim that he was going to sit this one out as to prevent causing a scene and risk stealing attention away from Serena’s big day, which Kim agreed was the smart decision.” It’s weird that this “Yeezy insider,” whatever that even means, would refer to “Beyonce and her husband” as opposed to saying “Beyonce and Jay” or “Jay-Z,” as if he isn’t one of music’s biggest stars but just the singer’s spouse.

The webloid also goes on to contradict its prior post by saying with Kardashian and Beyonce, “No one expected any fireworks with those two being in the same room… The night belonged to the tennis G.O.A.T.’s fairytale wedding and not anyone else’s drama.” Then why did HollywoodLies previously claim there was, in fact, “drama” with it being “icy” and “awkward” between the two women? The blog can’t even keep its narrative straight.

It’s also hard to believe that the same publication that was completely wrong about West performing at the Grammys and at Donald Trump’s inauguration earlier this year would now have reliable intel on why he didn’t attend Williams’ wedding. Our suspicions were confirmed when a rep exclusively told Gossip Cop that HollywoodLies’ version of events is “not true.”

Meghan Markle is playing cupid for Priyanka Chopra and James Middleton, according to a highly-suspect report. Gossip Cop investigated the story, and found no merit to the contentions. Below, we break down the article’s red flags.

Under the headline “Meghan Plays Cupid For Priyanka,” Star contends in its latest issue, “On the heels of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rumored engagement, Star has learned that the ‘Suits’ actress is playing matchmaker for longtime pal Priyanka Chopra and Duchess Kate’s brother, James Middleton.” The first sign that this tale is suspicious lays right in that sentence. The tabloid refers to Markle’s “rumored engagement,” an indication that it is not sure if she is in fact engaged to Prince Harry, yet it still wants readers to believe that it has insight on Markle setting up people on a date.

If the gossip magazine really had inside access to the actress’ world, it would know whether or not she’s engaged and not have to refer to something as being “rumored.” In addition, just last week Star had a cover story announcing Markle and Prince Harry were “secretly engaged.” The outlet claimed to have all the “bombshell details” of the proposal. But after Gossip Cop exposed the article as fabricated, the publication is back to calling the engagement “rumored,” which shows that it isn’t actually in-the-know at all.

So with that in mind, it’s hard to accept that the tabloid is being truthful when it claims to know about Markle being a “matchmaker.” But a so-called “source” is quoted as saying of Middleton and Chopra, “Meghan arranged for the pair to meet up for lunch a couple of weeks ago when James was in L.A. for work. It went so well, they had dinner, too!” This part contains the second red flag. There’s been no confirmation of Markle spending extensive time with Kate, so how would she know her brother so well that she’s setting him up on dates? Aside from both attending Pippa’s wedding reception earlier this year, there is no known connection between Markle and Middleton, yet this tale has her meddling in his love life.

The magazine’s supposed snitch goes on to say, “If Priyanka plays her cards right, she and Meghan could both end up joining the royal family!” And that is the third sign this piece is bogus. Markle would indeed end up a part of the royal family if she weds Prince Harry, but given that the Middletons are not royal, Chopra would not be part of the royal family simply by marrying Middleton. Kate is royal, James is not. He is related to the royal family due to his sister, and his eventual wife will share that connection, but not actually “join” the royal family.

Despite all these red flags showing Star doesn’t know what it’s talking about, Gossip Cop still investigated with one of our Markle contacts, who dismissed the story as just plain “silly.” That’s a word that can describe the outlet on occasion, but also just plain “wrong” often fits, too, like last month when it actually claimed Markle was “15 weeks pregnant.” It’s quite obvious the publication has no real knowledge on an engagement, a pregnancy or the star playing cupid.
