This sounds so difficult!

Selena Gomez‘s BFF Francia Raisa went through hell during a recovery process that saw her slowly nurse back to health after giving up a kidney to Selena last year.

The Grown-ish actress revealed how her recovery process really went down during an interview with Harry Connick Jr., for an upcoming appearance on his daytime talk show Harry, according to media reports that gained access to the interview beforehand.

In the interview, Raisa revealed that she basically didn’t move for two straight months after the operation, saying (below):

“I couldn’t do anything active. All I could do was walk. That was very hard for me, and I have a dog. Every day the thing I look forward to is drinking my coffee, and walking, and I couldn’t do that. It was really, really hard.”

Ugh…

Of course, the end result is something great: Selena is healthy, Francia has recovered from the surgery, and all’s well that ends well, perhaps.

But that’s a long few months of recovery immediately after the operation, and definitely a difficult thing for both girls to go through at the time — and live through again, looking back now.

Especially if you have kids, finding a sitter and getting out for date night can be incredibly difficult. Studies show that music can make a huge difference in your mood; whether it’s throwing a particular album on at home, listening to the radio in the car or actually getting out to a live concert, music can be a crucial emotional tool in making it to spring without getting too depressed.

If you have adolescent children, you can try and find something that appeals to them as well – there are plenty of adult contemporary artists with cross generational appeal. Kids love to learn music as well, and perhaps your favourite Leonard Cohen album will inspire your teenage son or daughter to learn to play Hallelujah on the piano.

In the spirit of finding music to brighten up the darkness of winter, here’s a list of Canadian artists who have some really great albums:

Feist

Feist’s breakout album The Reminder might be the best thing she’s ever done, but her earlier album Let It Die is certainly no slouch. Singing in French and covering a disco hit (Inside and Out), Feist definitely mixes it up and delivers a wide range of styles. Mushaboom is a catchy single that will be stuck in your head for days, without a doubt. Her more recent albums are rawer and more experimental – not to everyone’s taste, but certainly worth exploring.

Leif Vollebekk

Originally from Ottawa, this Montreal transplant has become a staple in the Canadian indie music scene. His soft crooning and smooth folk-pop sensibilities make his records ideal for listening to on a romantic evening, during dinner or while relaxing with a glass of whiskey or wine. Leif learned to play guitar and piano as a child and it shows; his musicality is effortless and comes across naturally.

Weaves

Fronted by the charismatic Jasmine Burke, Weaves has been referred to as freak-out indie rock. On their newest album, Wide Open, they embrace a more traditional rock dynamic, showcasing Burke’s fantastic songwriting and lyrics. Still, the heavy guitar, funky bass and powerful drums will make you want to rock out while doing the dishes. Definitely may appeal to your teenagers more than you, but then again, even grownups need to rock ‘n roll from time to time.

BadBadNotGood

A fascinating band from Toronto, BBNG is made up of jazz geeks who met in a formal music program and shared a love of R&B and hip-hop. They’ve collaborated with big name rappers like Kendrick Lamar and Ghostface Killah, but their own albums are mostly innovative jazz compositions that are hypnotic and beautiful. You need to be in the right mood for this kind of experimental music, but sometimes it really hits the spot. You’ll also win serious cool points with your kids.

A story about Travis Scott being “protective” of baby Stormi, making Kylie Jenner “love” him more, was wholly fabricated. In fact, not only can Gossip Cop confirm it was made-up, but it also contradicts other manufactured articles about the couple and their child. Check out the screengrabs below.

Throughout Jenner’s pregnancy, HollywoodLife insisted Scott was not going to be a suitable father or co-parent. The website posted story after story with fictional “sources” and “insiders” maligning the rapper’s character. In these made-up tales, the blog also accused Scott of not treating Jenner right. One such report from early February was headlined, “Travis Scott Won’t Be A ‘Model Dad’ — He’s Not Changing His Life For Kylie Jenner Or Their Baby.”

The article was published on February 3; Jenner had already given birth two days prior. Tellingly, though, while peddling this “exclusive,” the outlet had no idea Stormi had already arrived and wrote about how Scott was “about to be a parent” and Jenner was “expected to give birth… this month.” Yet at the same time, HollywoodLies, as it’s nicknamed, wanted readers to believe it had a “source close to the rapper.” Of course, any legitimate “source” would’ve known about Stormi’s delivery and would not have spoken about the family as if they were still awaiting her birth.

On top of that, no one actually connected to Scott would’ve really told the outlet things like, “Travis isn’t planning on radically altering his life… He’s really living the high life… Travis never pretended he was going to be the model dad… He’s never intended to put his career on ice so he can just sit around at home with her night after night.” But being at home most nights with the “KUWTK” star is exactly what he’s done since their daughter was born.

In fact, in this People story about how well Jenner and Scott are co-parenting, it was specifically noted, “Travis is able to do his own thing during the day as well, but he helps Kylie out at night.” There’s actually been multiple credible reports about the performer fulfilling his paternal responsibilities and showing his commitment to his girlfriend and their child.

So now HollywoodLies is reversing course. After months of maintaining Scott would let Jenner down as a boyfriend and father, this is the online publication’s latest headline: “Travis Scott Feels ‘Protective’ Of Daughter Stormi, Which Makes Kylie Jennner [sic] ‘Love’ Him Even More.” It’s striking, really, seeing that titled juxtaposed with some of the ones that came before it (see photos below).

According to this new narrative, Stormi’s arrival has made Scott a “changed man,” and he’s a “constant presence” at Jenner’s home. Wait a second. Didn’t the site previously say two days after her birth that he wouldn’t be changing and he wouldn’t be around a lot? But here a “source close to Kylie” is quoted as saying, “She loves Travis so much and is super happy that Stormi’s birth has flipped a switch within Travis that makes him not only an incredible dad, but all around partner.”

This wasn’t a matter of flipping a switch. Scott was dedicated to Jenner throughout her pregnancy, as shown in the home video she released earlier this month. What “flipped” was HollywoodLies. When it became apparent that the music star was actually an involved dad, the outlet flip-flopped and changed its storyline. Of course, if the publication really had inside access to the couple’s world, it wouldn’t have been so wrong for so long in the first place.

But just like no one in-the-know was really bad-mouthing Scott to HollywoodLies before, no one is suddenly praising him to the website now. Gossip Cop told this newest take is all made-up, just like the previous posts.

A new story claiming Princess Eugenie’s friends think Meghan Markle’s engagement ring is “cheap” is completely false. Gossip Cop can correct this report, which can be found in one of this week’s tabloids. We’re told it’s “rubbish.”

According to Star, Princess Eugenie’s “blue-blood pals” have been “royally bratty” about Markle’s “cheap, American-style engagement ring.” A so-called “source” is quoted as telling the publication, “Eugenie’s snooty BFFs had been blabbing that Eugenie’s ring is worth twice what Meghan’s is.” The magazine goes on to maintain Princess Eugenie’s wedding band came with a “$ 140,000 price tag,” while the former “Suits” actress is “rocking a relatively simple 3.5-carat total weight ring.”

The outlet’s alleged “tattletale” supposedly adds, “Prince Harry superbly muzzled the smack talk, reminding one and all that no bling could ever outshine Meg’s unique design. Why? The center stone belonged to his one-of-a-kind beloved mum, Princess Diana, which makes Meghan’s ring priceless!”

If this story sounds like it doesn’t rings true, it’s because the article is “rubbish,” a royal source tells Gossip Cop, which fact-checked the claims. While there have been a slew of unconfirmed reports about the price of Princess Eugenie’s engagement ring, close friends of the newly engaged royal do not think Markle’s ring is “cheap.” And, of course, the cost of Markle’s engagement ring is entirely irrelevant. Prince Harry designed the ring himself, using two diamonds from his late mother’s personal collection, which was decidedly not “American-style.” He clearly wanted the wedding band to be special, and the price of the ring has nothing to do with it.

On a side note, it’s worth pointing out that no legitimate royal “source” would refer to Princess Eugenie as just “Eugenie,” as the publication did throughout its fabricated article. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has corrected an outlet for printing a bogus report about Princess Eugenie and her cousin Prince Harry’s bride-to-be. In January, for example, we busted the often disproven Woman’s Day when it falsely declared in a cover story that Princess Eugenie and Markle were in a “royal wedding showdown.”

In that tale, the tabloid wrongly claimed the princess wanted her wedding to be more “lavish” and “star-studded” than Markle’s. Much like that inaccurate and seemingly manufactured claim, this latest one about Princess Eugenie’s friends being “snooty” about the price of Markle’s engagement ring is similarly untrue. Perhaps it’s time these outlets stop taking “cheap” shots at Markle.

Blake Shelton never proposed to Gwen Stefani on Valentine’s Day, despite a story claiming he was ring shopping for a holiday engagement. Gossip Cop busted the false article when it originally came out. Now time has proven we were right.

In early February, HollywoodLife peddled an “exclusive” about Shelton shopping for a $ 500,000 diamond ring. Actually, it was alleged that the country superstar was having an “assistant” go shopping for him. Naturally, the site tried to give credence to its story by citing a purported “source,” who claimed an “assistant” on his “team” was “spotted visiting and shopping with a private jeweler in Beverly Hills this week.”

Tellingly, the name of the jeweler was never given, nor was a specific date for this supposed sighting provided. Still, the alleged tipster suggested to the blog that “the shopping excursion fits a timeline for ‘a possible Valentine’s Day proposal.’” It was never explained why Shelton would have someone who works for him do something as personal as buy an engagement ring for him, something virtually all men prefer to do themselves.

In another red flag, the website noted that “there were rumors” in November “that Blake would be proposing to Gwen over Christmas.” HollywoodLies, as it’s known, doesn’t take any responsibility for sparking those unsubstantiated “rumors.” Instead, it opines, “It sounds like he’s really serious about it this time. One does not simply buy a diamond ring out of the blue.”

Of course, what was “really out of the blue” was this bogus article about a Valentine’s Day proposal. No one with whom Gossip Cop spoke could confirm there was any merit to the ring shopping and engagement claims. On the contrary, we were reminded that those legitimately connected to Shelton, and Stefani for that matter, don’t actually go spilling to HollywoodLies. So, what really happened on Valentine’s Day?

Well, the stars weren’t even together on Wednesday, just like they weren’t together on the special day last year. The songstress was in Los Angeles with her family while Shelton was in Oklahoma preparing for the launch of his “Country Music Freaks Tour,” which was beginning in Tulsa on Thursday. So Shelton sent Stefani a Valentine’s delivery of flowers, not a diamond ring.

And after she showed off the floral arrangement on social media, the outlet posted a new article, in which it acknowledged, “It looks like Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani couldn’t be together for Valentine’s Day.” The online publication went on to state, “Fans are anxiously awaiting the time when Blake finally pops the question, and engagement rumors have been swirling… for months now. Could 2018 finally be the year!?”

Just like with the Christmas proposal that never happened, at no point did HollywoodLies address the fact that it fueled “engagement rumors” days prior by alleging there would be a Valentine’s Day proposal. Perhaps the blog should stop making-up provably false stories and start taking responsibility for the untruths it has already told.

Robert Pattinson shared his feelings on the #MeToo movement during a press conference at the Berlin Film Festival, where his western comedy Damsel is playing in competition. The actor called the campaign “pretty amazing” for finally giving victims of sexual harassment a voice to speak out. The actor’s Damsel co-star, Mia Wasikowska, also offered her take on the movement.

“If you feel that you’ve been wronged, and you feel that you don’t have the right to tell people about it and you feel that you’re being bullied into silence, it’s one of the most awful things in the world,” Pattinson said when asked about #MeToo. “So it’s amazing when any kind of dam breaks and people feel they’ve got the numbers to say, no, you’ll be safe to say whatever has happened to you. It’s pretty amazing.”

Wasikowska shared a similar sentiment, calling the movement “great” and predicting it will lead to “significant change” in the industry. The actress noted that she was home in Australia when the campaign first launched last year, but later got involved by participating in the “Respect Rally” at last month’s Sundance Film Festival, where #MeToo supporters gathered to promote the movement.

Later, Pattinson explained why he’s somewhat hesitant to sign on for another big-budget franchise following the Twilight series. “The only reason I’m a little cautious about big franchise films is that you can’t make them R-rated,” the actor said. “If you have a big budget, there’s more people on you to do it a [specific] way or you’re fired.” Pattinson further acknowledged that he prefers making movies that provide him the opportunity to “experiment more.”

One such “experiment” is Damsel, a satirical R-rated western that Pattinson has described as “a kind of slapstick comedy.” “There aren’t that many western comedies,” he said during the press conference. “In terms of the comedies, it’s tough to find one that has an interesting character.” The actor further acknowledged that he was drawn to the film because he’s rarely offered comedic roles, adding, “It was really fun to play, it has an odd tone, so it was fun to try and figure out how to fit into it.” Damsel premieres at the Berlin Film Festival on Friday.

A new story claiming Princess Eugenie wants to “ban” Kate Middleton from attending her wedding, fearing she’ll “steal the spotlight,” is completely false. Gossip Cop can correct this report, which can be found in one of this week’s tabloids. We’re told it’s “not true.”

Earlier this month, Princess Eugenie announced her engagement to Jack Brooksbank, but according to Life & Style, the royal has made it clear she doesn’t want the Duchess of Cambridge to attend her wedding at Windsor Castle in October. A so-called “source” is quoted as telling the magazine, “Kate’s not welcome. Eugenie doesn’t want her stealing the spotlight.”

And what exactly is Princess Eugenie’s reason for wanting to “ban” Middleton from her wedding? “She’s always resented that Kate gets to be a full time royal while she has to work as a director at an art gallery,” maintains the publication, which notes that “royal protocol” is such that Princess Eugenie has no choice but to invite cousin Prince William and his wife to her wedding. “Eugenie hopes Kate will get the message, say she’s sick and just stay home,” adds the outlet’s supposed insider.

But Gossip Cop looked into the claim, and a royal source assures us the story is simply “not true.” On the contrary, the princess wants Middleton, her cousin’s wife, to watch her walk down the aisle. And while Princess Eugenie lives a relatively ordinary life in comparison to the Duchess of Cambridge, she certainly doesn’t resent Middleton, nor is she concerned the future queen will “steal the spotlight” at her wedding.

Oddly, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has busted an outlet for pitting Princess Eugenie against Middleton. In December, we corrected the often unreliable Celeb Dirty Laundry when it falsely alleged Princess Eugenie was frustrated that she wasn’t receiving the attention she felt she deserved for her royal work, while Middleton “made headlines” simply for being pregnant. In that made-up article, the website untruthfully contended Princess Eugenie was “frustrated” that she wasn’t getting noticed by the media.

Unlike Gossip Cop, a number of other outlets picked up the tabloid’s report about Princess Eugenie wanting to “ban” Middleton from attending her wedding without even bothering to fact-check. Among the misguided were OK! and CafeMom. But no matter how many times the falsehood is repeated, it’s still royally wrong.

On “The Bachelor Winter Games” on Thursday, new couples formed, love triangles heated up, someone quit and there was another elimination after everyone competed in speed skating.

As Gossip Cop reported, “The Bachelor Winter Games” premiered on Tuesday as the latest spinoff in “The Bachelor” franchise. The show, which filmed in Vermont in December, brings together fan-favorites from “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” in the U.S. with contestants from the international editions. The basic concept is inspired by the Winter Olympics: The men and women compete in a series of athletic challenges. The twist, of course, is that there’s a heavy dose of romance also involved.

In the debut episode, Rebecca and Kevin won the first task, which was a biathlon. They each got to ask another player out on a date, choosing Luke and Bibiana, respectively. Both pairings sealed their apparent new couplings with a kiss. Meanwhile, Josiah made out with Ally, Dean and Lesley quickly paired up, Courtney and Lily hooked up, and Benoit had some kisses with Clare. And then there was Ashley, who cried that crush Kevin wasn’t reciprocating her feelings.

Now the second installment began with Clare acknowledging she was in a “bit of a love triangle” with Benoit and Christian. Luke and Stassi connected over similar health issues. And Lesley wanted more time to get to know Dean, so she went into the second event hoping to win and earn a date. At an ice rink, host Chris Harrison explained there’d be two qualifying rounds for the separate men and women competitions, with two preliminary winners from each heat.

After a lot of falls during the practice session and jokes about “shrinkage,” Rebecca, Lesley, Lily and Clare topped the women’s qualifiers. For the men, Kevin, Benoit, Christian and Courtney led the group. Then Harrison revealed wouldn’t be those best players moving on to the finals, but the worst. For the men, that meant Dean, Ben, Luke and Michael were actually the ones to compete for the win. It ended up being a photo-finish, with Dean named the champion. Ashley, Stassi, Ally and Bibiana were the finalists for the women, and Stassi emerged the victor. She and Dean were both awarded date cards to take out whomever they wanted.

When everyone returned to the villa, a new contestant was settling in. Jordan, from New Zealand, explained he had visa trouble, which accounted for his late arrival. Amid rumors that he had flipped a coin to pick his winner on “The Bachelor,” most of the gang seemed turned off. Luke was concerned about him “creeping in” on Stassi, but Ben interrupted their conversation to grill Jordan on his past. “If we don’t ask you now, it’s going to be the elephant in the room,” Ben told him.

Jordan explained what went down and tried to defend his history, saying he was hoping to find real love this time around. They then toasted to “owning up to our mistakes.” And Luke was relieved when Stassi still chose him for her date. They went on a horse-drawn carriage ride and ended up in a hot tub. He was reminded of a date he had with JoJo Fletcher, but felt his dynamic with Stassi was emotional, whereas on “The Bachelorette” it was physical.

Before Dean decided to ask Lesley out for his date, he said he was “treading cautiously,” and she accused him of being “standoff-ish” and “such a question mark.” She even told him to “man up” or she’d be “gone.” He ultimately admitted he wanted to go out with her, and she accepted. They ended up going tubing and seemed to have a blast. Dean apologized for keeping them in a “grey area” and promised Lesley he would try harder to show his commitment.

Amidst all this, Kevin felt drawn to Ashley despite his “connection” with Bibiana, and even told Ashley he was conflicted and feeling “anxiety.” He then decided to “close the chapter” with Bibiana to pursue things with Ashley. Bibiana didn’t seem heartbroken, though, and started to bond with Jordan. They agreed to “wing it,” which apparently meant making out.

As for the other love triangle, Christian seemed to think he and Clare made a “date” for the Jacuzzi and spent the night waiting for her to show up. Benoit was “falling fast” for her, but was concerned she was growing interested in Christian. Benoit decided to confront her and she said she was interested in exploring things with multiple people. But he wanted an answer on whether she could see a “future” for them and accused her of kissing him for the “wrong reasons.”

She eventually said they’re not on the “same page,” and both shed a few tears. So crushed, Benoit decided to pack up and leave the show, one day before his birthday. Everyone seemed bummed about his exit, except for Christian, who thought his path was clear now. Clare, too, thought they had a “clear slate.” She found out from Josiah, though, that he was upset about her not showing up for their “date.”

Clare confronted Christian over not speaking to her directly, and they each accused the other of not trying hard enough. “When I kiss Benoit, that’s none of your business,” she told him, adding, “I owe you nothing.” As both got angry, he declared “no more” and said they wouldn’t “start” anything now. Again Clare ended up in tears, now regretting that she let an “amazing man,” Benoit, “walk away.”

Everyone went into the cocktail party unsure how the rose ceremony would work. Harrison revealed there wouldn’t be a vote-off like last time. Instead, the nine men would be giving out roses. But because there were 11 women, two of them would be left rose-less and going home. The host stressed that the guys should only give their roses to a woman they felt attracted to, while the women should only accept if they felt the same way.

A number of the couples reaffirmed their commitment, including Ashley and Kevin, but Tiffany tried to sway him and cried as he said he wanted to stick with Ashley. Clare vented to Lesley about Christian, and she told him how “hurt” and “upset” she was by their conversation. She wondered if they had a “cultural” or “language” issue and they fought again. She told the camera, “I’m over Christian. I deserve better than this.” She was even willing to turn down his rose, should he offer, and go home.

Robert Pattinson will star in a new fantasy horror movie called The Lighthouse. The news was announced on Thursday with official statements from director Robert Eggers and the producers.

While plot details are currently scarce, Deadline reports the film’s story is “set in the world of old sea-faring myths.” Pattinson will have a lead role, alongside Willem Dafoe. The stars actually have a little bit of interesting history. As Gossip Cop reported, Pattinson was nominated for Best Actor at the Gotham Awards last year. Among the fellow nominees was Dafoe. James Franco, however, ended up winning the award.

No other casting has been announced for Pattinson and Dafoe’s upcoming joint project so far, but production is expected to take place this spring. Eggers, who made his directorial debut in 2015 with the surprise horror hit The Witch, is a two-time Independent Spirit Awards winner. He also received an honor at the Sundance Film Festival. Much like he penned the script for The Witch, he also wrote the screenplay for The Lighthouse.

Rodrigo Teixeira, who is producing the new movie with his company RT Features, described Pattinson as “one of the most talented actors working today.” He added, “We are excited to work with him and Eggers.” It is not yet known when the film might hit theaters.

Pattinson is coming off arguably the best reviews of his career for Good Time, which is what earned his Gotham Awards nomination. More recently, he attended the Sundance Film Festival in January for the premiere of Damsel, a comedy-western. That month it was also revealed the movie would play in-competition at the Berlin Film Festival, and just this week it was confirmed Pattinson will attend the event and walk the red carpet on Friday.

The Berlin Film Festival officially kicked off on Thursday. To celebrate the start of the annual gathering, The Hollywood Reporter released a special issue of its magazine, featuring Pattinson on the cover in a new still from Damsel. And inside the issue is a first-look photo of Pattinson in High Life. That space-set tale, which also stars Mia Goth, Andre Benjamin (also known as Outkast’s Andre 3000) and Juliette Binoche, is seeking distribution through the film festival. With all of these projects, Pattinson’s fans can be assured he’ll be on screens for some time to come.

Jennifer Aniston did not “turn to ex” Gerard Butler amid a supposed “marriage meltdown,” despite reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the untrue stories. For starters, the actor isn’t even Aniston’s “ex.”

RadarOnline wrongly calls Butler the actress’s “ex-boyfriend” in an article that alleges Justin Theroux might be “replaced.” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying “Jen has been leaning hard on Gerard” as her relationship with Theroux supposedly “continues to disintegrate.” The site never says what exactly is purportedly problematic with Aniston’s marriage, but its insider maintains, “Jen has turned to Gerard to fill the void left by Justin.”

The blog goes on to bring up Butler recently declaring Aniston a better kisser than Angelina Jolie during a January appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.” The aforementioned “source” claims it was “no coincidence” that “Gerard made a public display of affection and loyalty toward her” at the same time Aniston’s marriage is allegedly “imploding.” The purported tipster even claims the “Friends” star was “really touched that Gerard is proving he has her back.”

What’s more is that it’s further alleged Aniston and Butler actually “reconnected a few months ago” and have been “flirting with a reunion for a while.” The outlet’s alleged snitch asserts, “Gerard told Jen he’s still carrying a torch for her [and] made it clear… he’s ready to commit to her.” The National Enquirer is running a virtually identical story in its latest issue, but goes ever farther with a headline that exclaims, “Jen Dumping Justin For Gerard!”

And unsurprisingly, a number of copy-and-paste websites, including The Inquisitr and Celebrity Insider, are regurgitating the claims. But instead of spreading questionable information, Gossip Cop chose to investigate and fact-check. Now a Butler confidante exclusively tells us there’s no truth to talk of a romance with Aniston. Regardless of the state of her marriage, we’re assured she has not been “turning” to him for any comfort.

As for their history, the gossip media has been falsely linking Aniston and Butler as a couple since their time working on the 2010 movie, The Bounty Hunter. But in 2009, even before the film came out, Butler himself denied he was dating Aniston, something he also personally told Gossip Cop at a screening for The Bounty Hunter. They never embarked on a relationship afterward and they still aren’t now. All of the outlets referring to him as an “ex” and alleging something is currently blossoming are simply wrong.
