What could’ve been…

As we reported, Bethenny Frankel‘s on-again, off-again boyfriend Dennis Shields was found dead Friday in his apartment in Trump Tower. According to The New York Post, the banker allegedly asked his assistant to give him Narcan, an emergency treatment for opioid overdose, but lost consciousness before it could take effect. The Post‘s sources believe Shields was taking the prescription painkiller OxyContin.

According to a People report published on Monday, the banker proposed to the Real Housewives of New York star months before his passing.

The Skinnygirl founder’s friend revealed:

“He proposed to her with a ring in April. She wasn’t wearing the ring… There were some hurdles to overcome before she could make that level of a commitment. She loved him. He’s her family and her best friend and her confidante. Her partner and her business partner.”

But how did she respond?

“She didn’t say no… She would have loved to have married him, but there were some hurdles to overcome first.”

One of those hurdles may have been the fact that Shields was still legally married to his estranged wife Jill.

Although it is unclear if Frankel and Shields were together before his death, “he loved her and she loved him.”

“She talked to him this past week. He loved her and she loved him… She would have loved to have married him, but they were still working through their issues. She wanted to make it work.”

On Monday, after Frankel posted a tribute to Shields on Instagram, past and current RHONY co-stars commented in support of the businesswoman.

Sonja Morgan wrote:

“Thank you for sharing this beautiful photo. Cookie is with Dennis now. So many are sending you love and prayers through this very painful time.”

Jill Zarin — who lost her husband Bobby in January of this year — commented:

“I never thought I would be sending you condolences for your soul mate. I never met Dennis but he seemed like he truly loved you unconditionally. Words won’t console you but time heals. Doesn’t erase but heals the soul.”

Additionally, RHOC star Vicki Gunvalson wrote:

“Oh Honey, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Peace be with you as you mourn.”

Former RHOC cast member Gretchen Rossi commented:

“Ahh breaks my heart sending love and hugs my friend”

R.I.P. Dennis. You will be missed.

Demi Lovato is taking this SERIOUSLY!

Recently we learned the Confident singer had made a special trip to Chicago to see a psychiatric specialist.

Now we’re hearing she’s following that up with an extended stay in rehab which will cost her months of touring — and possibly save her life.

A source told E! News:

“She will be in rehab for several months and is doing an extensive program to ensure she gets the help she needs.”

The insider says Demi’s program involves some degree of isolation and that she “hasn’t been in communication with anyone and is really focusing on herself.”

That includes friends and… whatever Wilmer Valderrama is to her right now.

The source says “Wilmer has been in touch with the family and has been checking in on Demi’s status” but can’t see Demi anymore:

“The family is trying to make sure they eliminate all distractions and want her to be focusing on her health right now.”

Love can certainly be distracting, but surely communication will be allowed again following treatment.

The insider does have good news to report, saying “Demi is doing much better” since taking in “the severity of what happened and that she almost died.”

“She has become more open and is happy she is getting the help she needs.”

We are so glad she’s committed to this for good.

Time for Lindsay Lohan to walk things back a bit…

The actress made some controversial comments about the #MeToo movement this week, going so far as to call out women who speak out against harassment as “looking weak,” but now, she’s trying to set the record straight.

The embattled star issued a new statement to People on Sunday afternoon, apologizing for her remarks and the pain that she may have caused by them.

Here is her statement, in full (below):

“I would like to unreservedly apologize for any hurt and distress caused by a quote in a recent interview with The Times. The quote solely related to my hope that a handful of false testimonies out of a tsunami of heroic voices do not serve to dilute the importance of the #MeToo movement, and all of us who champion it. However, I have since learned how statements like mine are seen as hurtful, which was never my intent. I’m sorry for any pain I may have caused. I feel very strongly about the #MeToo movement and have the utmost respect and admiration for the women brave enough to come forward and speak out about their experiences. Their testimony has served to protect those who can’t speak, and give strength to those who have struggled to have their voices heard.”

Not a bad statement, as far as public apologies go — what do U think, though, Perezcious readers?!

Kristen Stewart was pictured on a date with Stella Maxwell on Saturday in Los Angeles, and generally that wouldn’t be news except the outlet that noted how the actress was “all smiles” with her longterm girlfriend neglects to mention how just four months ago it swore the couple was “on the rocks.” At the time, Gossip Cop busted the website, reporting Stewart and Maxwell were perfectly happy together. Still, the blog that published this latest piece about them couldn’t resist making a mistake about actress right at the end of its article.

Imagine Gossip Cop’s surprise when we saw a story on RadarOnline on Sunday that had the headline, “All Smiles! Kristen Stewart Grins While On Date With Stella Maxwell.” That seemed like a far cry from the same site’s piece on April 16 titled, “On The Rocks? Kristen & Stella ‘Barely’ Spoke To Each Other During Coachella Bash” (below). In that misguided report, the blog quoted a so-called source who maintained that while they were at the musical festival, “They weren’t holding hands or kissing” and “did not look like a couple at all.” The alleged witness added that Maxwell and Stewart “barely said three words to each other all night.”

The supposed tipster went on about how Stewart was supposedly “flirting with a brunette pal.” According the mistaken site, “It seemed they were on the rocks.” Of course that was provably wrong. In fact, contrary to the blog’s contention that they “weren’t holding hands or kissing,” several articles written about them specifically noted how Stewart and Maxwell were holding hands and kissing at Coachella. The first line of a Daily Mail piece clearly stated, “The two packed on the PDA.”

This time around, however, it seems the outlet decided to write its story around a series of photos it bought of a smiling Stewart out in L.A., getting a cold drink with Maxwell. Alongside one picture, the website that previously claimed they were “on the rocks” now stated “they are very happy with one another.” But after describing what they wore in the photos, RadarOnline couldn’t help itself and ended its post with yet another falsehood. Right before the blog advertised how it “pay[s] for juicy info,” a practice frowned up by legitimate news outlets,” it bragged that they “recently revealed how Stewart had been flirting with Drew Barrymore” (below).

Actually, the article involving the older actress was published exactly two days after the site wrongly asserted Stewart and Maxwell were “on the rocks.” In the follow-up story, the blog alleged Barrymore and Stewart were becoming “lesbian lovers” and quoted yet another unnamed and untraceable “source” as saying, “Everyone has noticed the chemistry between them.” Well, much like a chemistry project, that report also blew up in the outlet’s face.

Sometimes it not what websites say, but what they don’t say. And in this case, the blog purposely pushed the false narrative about Stewart and Barrymore at the end of its article, yet glaringly neglected to admit it was wrong about the actress and model having been “on the rocks.” Maybe the outlet should just stick with facts and photos and not throw in fabricated scenarios from anonymous sources.

In the span of just 25 hours, HollywoodLife has flip-flopped in its belief that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s romance could be “back on.” This boomerang type of reporting, however, is quite common for the site, which is often nicknamed HollywoodLies. After Gossip Cop called out the outlet for its inaccurate story on Friday that alleged Aniston and Theroux’s “romance might not be entirely over” and “could reignite,” the blog did a 180, maintaining there’s “no hope whatsoever of Justin and Jen ever getting back together.”

HollywoodLies published an article on August 10 that had the headline, “Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux’s Subtle Clue That Their Romance Might Not Be Entirely Over.” The often discredited site then blathered how there’s “one big hint… that their romance could reignite.” What was it? Intrusive aerial photos of Aniston’s property that the Daily Mail published, showing Theroux’s Porsche and Mercedes still in her garage. Thrown in to lend credence that the two stars “might not be entirely over” was a “so-called source close to Theroux,” who the site quoted as saying he “fears” he’ll never meet another woman like Aniston, and “the more time Justin spends away from Jen… and being single, the more he realizes how incredible he had it” with her.

Fast forward to August 11 when Gossip Cop debunked HollywoodLies and Daily Mail’s false narratives about Aniston and Theroux possibly getting back together because his cars were still at her home. Of course, neither outlet applied common sense, such as why would the actor need a car (or two) in New York City, where Theroux is routinely seen on his bike? Or how it’s easier to pack bags and ship clothes and other keepsakes from the West Coast to the East Coast than it is to transport two cars.

Irrespective of logic or reasoning, one of the very clear reasons not to believe they “might not be entirely over” is because while his cars may still be under her roof, Aniston and Theroux have not be under the same one since they announced their split in February. And, at the time the photos of her private property were obtained without the actress’s permission, Aniston was in Italy filming Murder Mystery with Adam Sandler. In fact, she hasn’t been home in weeks since the Netflix production began in Montreal before heading to Italy. In addition, Aniston’s rep, who’s commissioned to speak on her behalf, told us the Daily Mail and HollywoodLies’s speculation was “false,” and the couple is not reigniting their relationship. We heard the same from Theroux’s camp, too.

Magically, just a few hours after Gossip Cop corrected HollywoodLife’s phony claim about how Theroux and Aniston’s “romance might not be over,” the repeatedly disproven outlet flip-flopped and in a second story nebulously quoted a “source close to Jen” telling the blog, “There’s no way these two will reunite romantically.” Wait, just 24 hours earlier, the same site said they “could reignite.” A cynic might suspect HollywoodLies’ “source close to Jen” was actually her rep sharing that information with Gossip Cop hours earlier about their first fabricated story.

None of this, however, surprises us. That blog has a rich history of publishing false reports about both Theroux and Aniston. Much like how the current bogus stories were spurred by photos published by the Daily Mail, back in March HollywoodLies, working off pictures of Theroux and Aubrey Plaza hanging out, wrongly declared they were a “new couple.”

And in May, Gossip Cop busted the unreliable blog when it contended Aniston was furious about rumors about Theroux dating Selena Gomez. If you want facts, stick with Gossip Cop. But if you want flip-flops, read HollywoodLife or better yet, go to a surf shop.

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx only recently reached a point in their relationship where they’re comfortable showing PDA. But if you believe the tabloids, they married years ago. Of course, that isn’t true, and they still have no plans to wed. Yet the last three months have been filled with wedding-related rumors. See five examples below.

In May, the Globe peddled a story contending Holmes and Foxx were “planning an ‘intimate summer wedding.’” A so-called “insider” was quoted as saying, “Marriage is absolutely in the cards for them. Katie has been ready to say ‘I do’ for a long time, and Jamie’s realized he would be crazy to let her go.” Tellingly, though, no specifics were given for the purported nuptials. Still, it was asserted, “Katie believes Jamie will make a great husband and stepdad.” But he had no intention of taking on either role. Foxx’s spokesperson told Gossip Cop on the record that he was “not getting married” in a “summer wedding” or otherwise.

One day later, the tabloid’s sister magazine, OK!, published a cover story announcing the stars were “getting married.” In this version, it was claimed Foxx “convinced a reluctant” Holmes to “tie the knot.” An untraceable “source” alleged, “Jamie’s done everything possible to show Katie he’s in it for the long haul. Now, word is, she’s finally agreed to say ‘I do.’” Of course, “word is” was an indication that the outlet had no firsthand knowledge, confirmation, or evidence to support its contentions. In other words, the publication was essentially copping to spreading a rumor. And far from convincing Holmes to tie the knot, Foxx’s rep bluntly stated to Gossip Cop, “Jamie Foxx is not getting married.”

About a week after this, the Globe decided to reverse course with an article claiming Holmes was “devastated” and “shattered” after her “cheating boyfriend… dumped her at the altar.” It wasn’t explained how she and Foxx supposedly went from planning a summer wedding to a breakup at the altar in a matter of days. But the tabloid wanted readers to believe the actor was caught “seeing his ex and baby mama, Kristin Grannis, behind Katie’s back.” The timing made no sense. As Gossip Cop reported, Foxx had been seen in public with Grannis on April 27. Foxx and Holmes then had a date night on May 1. Clearly, then, she wasn’t upset about any time he spent with the mother of his child, nor did she have reason to be. This was just the magazine’s attempt at getting out of its untrue wedding storyline.

This narrative continued in June when RadarOnline, a sister site to both outlets, declared their supposed wedding was “off.” Here it was alleged Holmes was “in the midst of planning her dream wedding” when she had a “sudden change of a heart,” leading them to cancel it and end their relationship. It was even asserted that the “Dawson’s Creek” star had “started to move on” by going on a “few dates with an NYC lawyer [sic].” But this tale was doubly wrong. Once again, a rep for Foxx confirmed to Gossip Cop that he and Holmes never had any marriage plans at all. And Holmes’ spokesperson told us the whole story was “100 percent untrue.”

Then in July, The Daily Beast of all places fueled speculation that Holmes was scouting wedding locations. The story was prompted by her visit to Borris House, a famous estate in Ireland. The outlet theorized she was “contemplating tying the knot with Foxx,” and claimed she “asked about the house’s history and its use as a wedding venue.” In actuality, Holmes’ rep told Gossip Cop she was in Ireland for “work” purposes, and her sightseeing had nothing to do with a future wedding. In fact, her free time was also spent visiting art galleries and pottery stores, establishments that don’t really connect to nuptials at all. She wasn’t eyeing locations for an impending marriage ceremony, but simply being a tourist.

Later that month, Holmes and Foxx were seen for the first time showing significant PDA. Notably, they haven’t been seen together since then. Gossip Cop predicts that regardless of whether their romance remains relatively casual or progresses into something more serious, the gossip media will continue to manufacture whatever they want. That’s why we’ll keep letting readers know what’s real and what’s rumor.

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are not making a movie together, despite a claim that’s both late and wrong. On top of that, this new story is also plagiarized. Allow Gossip Cop to explain what’s going on.

In the wake of Aniston telling InStyle that she’s “not heartbroken” following her breakup with Justin Theroux, OK! Australia is asserting, “That might have something to do with Jen’s ex-hubby.” The tabloid contends she and Pitt have been “supporting each other through their respective splits, and talk is that they’re ready to take an exciting next step.” The magazine then quotes a so-called “insider” as saying, “As well as being back in touch as friends, suddenly an opportunity has cropped up that would put Brad and Jen in a major movie together for the first time — and they’re seriously considering it.”

What the outlet doesn’t tell readers is that this is copied from Heat, which was the first to falsely claim late last month that Aniston and Pitt may reunite for a romantic comedy. Rather than credit the original publication, OK! pretends the contentions come from its own source. For example, the tabloid writes, “‘It’s not like they would be playing lovers or anything, but the project is in the romantic comedy genre and their characters would cross paths,’ shares the insider.” But this is virtually word-for-word what appeared in the Heat article.

Other quotes were stolen, too, but his version adds that the “pair have stayed mum about their rekindled relationship.” Well, that’s because there is no “rekindled relationship,” despite what the magazine has tried to get readers to believe. Just two weeks ago, for example, the outlet speculated Pitt had proposed to Aniston again. That, too, was largely based off claims from other publications. Notably, nothing is mentioned in this new piece about an engagement.

As for this narrative about a joint movie, Pitt has been shooting Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, but has no acting projects in development besides a sequel to World War Z, which has been repeatedly delayed. Meanwhile, Aniston is currently filming Murder Mystery, and will next take on the movie First Ladies, followed by a TV series for Apple. None of the trade publications that cover the film industry, which often report on possible projects before they’re made official, have said anything about Pitt and Aniston being in talks to star in a movie together.

That’s because they’re not, as Gossip Cop has already confirmed. In fact, when we inquired with Aniston’s spokesperson about this claim when it was first spread by Heat, we were told it was just “another made up story.” And a Pitt confidante also commented about the exes potentially reuniting for a film, telling us on background, “Hard to do that when you haven’t even spoken.” As we’ve said numerous times, the former spouses are not getting back together professionally or personally. Fans will have to settle for re-watching Pitt’s famous guest appearance alongside Aniston on “Friends.” The episode was aptly titled, “The One With The Rumor.”
