Selena Gomez was never being considered or interested in being an “American Idol” judge, despite a completely fabricated story from one year ago today. The premise was entirely made up by HollywoodLife, a site so known for churning out fiction that it’s often called HollywoodLies. A year ago, Gossip Cop noted the claim was bogus and now 12 months later, it’s crystal clear the report was totally manufactured.

On September 23, 2017, HollywoodLies alleged “American Idol” producers were “giving [Gomez] an offer.” A seemingly concocted “source” was quoted by the often discredited outlet as saying executives had their “eyes” on Gomez and that she was “at the top of the show producers’ wish-list for judges.” Among the reasons “American Idol” was supposedly going to pay bank to hire Gomez, alleged the site’s unnamed and probably nonexistent “insider,” was that she would “be considered the nice judge and… because the impact she has with social media.” “They’d love to have her signed up and all judges by mid October,” added the phony source.

As Gossip Cop mentioned 365 days ago, no other legitimate outlet had floated Gomez’s name as a possible contender for the judges’ table. Ultimately, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were tapped for “American Idol.” At the time, a rep speaking on behalf of Gomez exclusively assured us, “There’s not even been a conversation” about her joining the competition show. Of course, a full year has passed and Gossip Cop’s fact-checked story remains 100 percent true, and HollywoodLies’ article has continued to be nothing more than fan fiction.

In the ensuing year since the story about Gomez joining “American Idol,” the same website spun a number of other untrue tales about the “Bad Liar” singer. For instance, in February, Gossip Cop busted the blog when it manufactured a post about how Gomez and Bieber considered themselves “soulmates.” And shortly before that we nailed the outlet for its phony article about how allegedly Gomez used to call Bieber “my husband.” Actually, that report came on the heels of Gossip Cop listing a number of fake “exclusives” HollywoodLife had produced about Bieber and Gomez.

It’s important to remember that Gomez herself called the site “the worst” in a Billboard interview because of its penchant for coming up with made-up stories about her. Regardless, a year has gone by since Gossip Cop called out HollywoodLies for its fabricated report about Gomez possibly becoming an “American Idol” judge, and time and reality has again proved us right and that other site as simply untrustworthy.

The old saying, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” is only true when you don’t get caught. Fame and fortune doesn’t always spare the rich and famous, and Las Vegas is no stranger to celebrities.

The colorful pasts, presents, and futures of the loads of patrons who roam in and out of the borders of Las Vegas have made Sin City the place to let loose. Here is a short list of a few of your most beloved stars who have had their run in Vegas and found themselves visiting the county jail.

William Drayton, Jr. AKA Flava Flav

Flava Flav visited the Clark County Detention Center in May of 2015 on a misdemeanor DUI charge. He almost never cops this charge for reasons of drinking alcohol. It’s marijuana that Mr. William Drayton, Jr. can’t seem to put down.

The famed reality television star and rapper plead guilty to DUI charges in Vegas, which resulted in a fine total of $ 1,370… a drop in the bucket for a star like Flava Flav. At nearly 60 years old, William shows no signs of falling out of favor with his fans.

Austin Lee Russell AKA Chumlee

At the age of 33, Austin Lee Russell of the reality television show “Pawn Stars” was arrested on weapons and drug charges in Las Vegas. Upon serving a warrant in his home, Las Vegas police found methamphetamine, marijuana, and at least one illegitimate weapon.

Chumlee’s done it now. Dealing with the Las Vegas justice system is a far cry from being yelled at by the “Old Man” on the show. He’s sure got some explaining to do now!

Peter Hernandez AKA Bruno Mars

In September of 2010, Peter Hernandez (AKA Bruno Mars) rose to the top of the Billboard Charts with his hit single, “Just The Way You Are.” While the world was celebrating his talent, the Las Vegas Police Department was giving him an orange jumpsuit.

Bruno Mars got arrested on drug charges after police caught him in a Hard Rock Hotel restroom with 2.6 grams of cocaine on his person. Mars was ordered by a judge to serve out one year of probation, pay two grand in fines and fees, go through drug counseling, and do 200 hours of community service. Needless to say, Mr. Hernandez didn’t get the “star” treatment.

There have been several stories about Justin Bieber sparking concern after a video emerged of him “shaking,” but they’re based on false speculation. There’s nothing to worry about the singer’s health. Bieber was playing around in the (not so new) footage and was most assuredly not on “meth,” as alleged by some on social media and irresponsibly repeated by a few outlets.

In a piece published by Metro, the outlet wrote that in video which has “gone viral, the 24-year-old can be seen having a laugh with fans as he greets them in New York.” It further noted that while talking to fans, Bieber “scrunches up his eyes and begins to twitch for a moment before hugging one of his fans.” The online publication added that after the video was uploaded, his fans took to Twitter “to ask if he is okay.”

Gossip Cop will get to how the story’s premise is untrue further down, but Metro couldn’t even get right where the footage was taken. It was in Michigan, not New York. And it didn’t just “emerge.” It’s been around since September 8, but some people and outlets have now suddenly decided to create a controversy where none exists.

Perez Hilton also regurgitated the inaccurate speculation in a piece he titled, “Justin Bieber Fans Think The Singer Is ‘Tweaking On Meth Again’ In New Video.” The blogger wrote, “The short clip shows Hailey Baldwin’s fiance meeting fans in New York, and he appears to be shaking as he continuously rubs one Beliebers’ back!” He then includes tweets from fans alleging the singer is “tweaking on meth,” but there’s no proof of that whatsoever. And media outlets shouldn’t give voice to people on Twitter making allegations without any evidence.

Meanwhile, the Mirror also did the story and maintained, “Justin has a dazed look on his face as the group of girls goes up to him.” The paper’s digital edition went on recount how Bieber seemed “to go into spasm for a second, with his whole torso shaking as he screws his face up.” The outlet also made a big deal about Bieber “frenetically rubbing” a fan’s back “while still grinning manically.”

But here are the facts. The video is actually two weeks old, and it wasn’t taken in New York. It was shot in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where Bieber and his future father-in-law Stephen Baldwin attended a Christian music event called CityFest. The footage was uploaded on Twitter by a fan named Rachel, who goes by the Twitter handle MET JUSTIN 9/8/18&9/9/18.

Importantly, Rachel also posted a video of Bieber greeting a little girl, whose back he also rubbed, as he tends to do when meeting fans. After playing along with the youngster, Bieber hugged and posed with Rachel. Gossip Cop has learned that some of the jerky movements he was making that wrongly caused “concern” were simply Bieber playfully interacting with a little girl he found adorable. Then, when he met Rachel after the little girl, he self-deprecatingly mocked his own habit of rubbing the backs of his supporters.

Following reports that wrongly speculated Bieber was “tweaking on meth,” Rachel, who was the subject of the video, tweeted, “it’s always the people who know NOTHING about Justin who talk the most [expletive] like maybe fact check first?????? or just…don’t say anything???” She noted in another message on Twitter, “y’all idiots…that’s me with him…the little girl made a noise and he thought it was adorable. thats it. he was not on ANYTHING. i’m 100% positive.” Rachel continued in a subsequent tweet, “Justin was literally with Josh Mehl, his friend/CHURCH LEADER, and Stephen Baldwin, his FIANCE’S DAD, and was attending a CHRISTIAN music festival…and y’all think he was ‘tweaking’?????? YEAH LMAO OKKKKKK.”

The reality is Bieber turned over a new leaf a few years ago. The video, which outlets wrongly presented as new and having been shot in New York, is actually a couple of weeks old and was filmed in Michigan. More significantly, far from “tweaking” on anything, Bieber was being nothing more than playful and interactive with fans. In fact, the subject of the video herself has said the singer was perfectly happy and healthy. Maybe it’s time for certain media outlets to tweak the way they gather information before publishing misinterpretations and false speculation about celebrities like Bieber.

Exactly one year ago, a tabloid claimed Tom Cruise was working out a custody agreement with Katie Holmes to set up regular visits with their daughter Suri. Gossip Cop debunked the story when it first emerged. Time has proven it false.

On September 22, 2017, the National Enquirer wrongly reported Cruise and Holmes “agreed to meet for the first time in years” to discuss a reunion between the actor and his 12-year-old girl. The magazine said the actress was open to letting her ex-husband reconnect with their daughter, but first he “needs to show Katie the respect of one-on-one dialogue… plus come to terms with the fact Katie is dating his former friend Jamie Foxx.”

The outlet further contended that Cruise’s injury on the set of Mission: Impossible – Fallout was what inspired him to get in touch with his daughter again. The actor broke his ankle while performing a dangerous stunt, and according to the magazine, the accident “made him realize he’s not getting any younger” and “needs to work out the few relationships he still has left.”

When the article was published this time last year, a source close to Holmes assured us it was simply “untrue.” That’s become very clear 12 months later. Cruise remains estranged from his young daughter, who he hasn’t seen in several years. The two haven’t been photographed together since 2013, and the actor certainly hasn’t been spotted visiting her anytime over the past year.

This past July, People published an extensive profile surrounding “the mysteries of Cruise’s life,” and made no mention of any changes regarding Suri’s custody. Holmes still has primary custody of Suri and never set up a visitation schedule with Cruise. The young girl continues to live with her mom full-time in New York City and Los Angeles.

It’s worth noting, the tabloid frequently pretends to have insight into the situation, despite its narratives not panning out. Just last month, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming Cruise was taking Holmes to court to get custody of their daughter. In June, the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, made up another story about Cruise and Holmes working on a reunion between him and Suri.

There’s a lot of mystery surrounding Cruise’s estrangement from his daughter, but the Enquirer’s “sources” obviously don’t have any real answers. Instead, the tabloid keeps coming up with articles that have more in common with fan fiction than journalism. Last year’s story about a custody deal, which the passage of time has disproven, is another example.

It is a well-known fact that the rich and famous of the world love to show off their money with lavish homes and the best of everything. Private jets, luxurious yachts, and fancy cars are only the accessories of the world’s most financially endowed.

The “Property Brothers” Drew and Jonathan Scott are not in a “family feud,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop can correct the claim. Far from being “estranged” or “torn apart” from one another, the TV star twins are very much in each other’s lives both personally and professionally.

According to Star, ever since Drew tied the knot with Linda Phan this past spring and his brother got “dumped” by longtime girlfriend Jacinta Kuznetsov, Jonathan “feels left out in the cold.” An unnamed and seemingly made-up “source” is quoted as saying, “Now that Drew is married, Jonathan is feeling complete estranged from his brother. This could spell the end of their show.” “Jonathan is feeling completely isolated and abandoned,” asserts the magazine’s untraceable “source” using repetitive language, before adding, “This could mean the end of TV’s most successful partnerships.”

Just because one sibling got married and planned to move to L.A., and the other had a breakup doesn’t mean they are in a “family feud.” Nor does it portend that their show will come to an end. In fact, the tabloid doesn’t explain at all how them living separately means they’re in a “feud.” Additionally, the magazine doesn’t furnish any examples of them fighting or even mildly disagreeing. Instead, it took disparate events and tried to tie them together to manufacture a fictitious “feud.” But like a home with a bad foundation, the magazine’s story falls apart.

A simple glance at the twins’ individual as well as Property Brothers’ Twitter accounts shows just how close the two are. Also, barely a day goes by in which they’re not pictured together on their social media feeds. And contrary to the main premise about them being in a family feud, last Friday, Jonathan tweeted of photo of himself with Drew and his wife, along with the caption, “Family time is the BEST time,” and hashtags “#Love #Family.” Drew tweeted the same photo, but he captioned his with the words, “#Family game night” and a heart emoji. Those are hardly the words of siblings who are “torn apart.”

The contention that their (nonexistent) “feud” could mean “the end of their show” is also nonsense. Just three weeks ago, Drew and Jonathan came back for a 13th season of “Property Brothers.” And every Wednesday, the “Property Brothers” promote that week’s new episode together.

It should be noted that Star’s sister publication tried earlier in the year to claim the twins were feuding. After Gossip Cop debunked that phony report, Drew tweeted, “Ha. Some people love to make up fake drama. Our family is as close as we’ve always been!” Perhaps it’s time for these tabloids to get better sources or even just Twitter.

Conclusion: The “Property Brothers” are not in any sort of “feud” because Drew got married and Jonathan and his girlfriend split up. (For the record, Jonathan and Kuznetsov amicably split. He was not “dumped,” as falsely tainted by the tabloid.) And while the gossip magazine bandied about the word “feud” and claimed the twins’ hit HGTV show could end as a result of them supposedly being “torn apart,” the outlet gave no proof whatsoever of them having problems.

The publication simply printed quotes from an unidentifiable or possibly concocted “source.” Conversely, Gossip Cop relies on primary sources, which is why we’ll take the words of the Scott brothers, who routinely express their love for one another. They even happily posed together just 12 days ago at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles (see above). For those reasons and others mentioned above, Gossip Cop is giving the tabloid’s tale a 0 on our fact-or-fiction meter.

Marc Antony has much more than just a simple swimming pool. Marc Antony owns his own tropical compound, equipped with several luxury huts and plenty of splendid views.

We’re all familiar with the fact that celebrities seem to be treated differently than the average joe. Magazines seem to always be publishing the latest stories about their lavish lives and special privileges.

Being a celebrity, however, doesn’t just stop at having more privileges than most of us. They are also often seen as above the law and get away with crimes that an everyday person would have been charged with much more severely.

Here are some of the most common crimes that celebrities get away with.

Murder (Literally)

There are plenty of stories throughout the years of celebrities getting away with murder despite heavy evidence clearly showing that they were likely guilty.

Since celebrities can afford to hire the best lawyers in town and law enforcement is often starry-eyed upon coming across them, they are often permitted to get away with things that they shouldn’t have.

Most people have heard about the OJ Simpson case in which he infamously got away as not guilty when the majority of the world agreed he was undoubtedly guilty of murdering his wife.

Less known, however, is when Matthew Broderick, the actor well known for his starring role in the cult classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, killed two passengers of a car while committing a driving infraction in Northern Ireland.

A mother and daughter in the other vehicle struck by his were pronounced immediately dead at the scene as a cause of his reckless driving. Shockingly, he wasn’t charged and got away with a fine of only $ 175.

Sexual Harassment

Although this is now starting to change in Hollywood as people are taking a stand against silence, there are decades of history of sexual harassment from stars.

Inappropriate advances from stars are often overlooked because of their status, and people may be too afraid to go to the authorities because of their social power.

Assault

From aggressing paparazzi to getting into fist fights with overzealous fans, celebrities have been known for assaulting people without being charged for it.

This special treatment is often the case because people are intimidated by stars or hold them in a special category because of their fame. However, most people can agree that intentional violence should be treated equally for everyone regardless of social status.

Despite all of the money in the world, for some reason, celebrities just can’t seem to figure out this drinking and driving thing. You’d think they’d be able to hire a driver or pay for a taxi with a couple million bucks in the bank, yet we hear about some celebrity being charged with a DUI almost every week.

Not only are their charges often dropped, their sentences aren’t even served completely.
