Christina El Moussa Kissing Up To Joanna Gaines To Boost Career?

Christina El Moussa Joanna Gaines Kissing Up

(Getty Images)

One of this week’s tabloids claims Christina El Moussa has been “kissing up” to Joanna Gaines in the hopes that the former HGTV star will help boost her career. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

It was announced last month that Gaines and her husband Chip, who starred on HGTV’s popular home renovation show “Fixer Upper,” would be teaming up with Discovery to launch their own TV network. OK! now claims that El Moussa, star of the HGTV house-flipping show “Flip or Flop,” wants in on their new venture, so she’s trying to get on Gaines’ good side.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Ever since news broke that Joanna and Chip are getting their own network, Christina’s been kissing up to her in hopes that Joanna will put in a good word with Discovery execs, and maybe even involve her in one of her new spinoffs.” The supposed source adds, “Christina sees how Joanna’s popularity has risen and she wants a piece of it.”

The magazine’s tipster goes on to say that El Moussa has been sending Gaines kind notes and gifts for her new baby, but the fellow TV star hasn’t been receptive. “She’s really got a lot on her plate with the new Discovery deal, her many business ventures, a farm and five kids to look after,” says the questionable source. “She doesn’t have time to make new friends.”

The tabloid’s premise is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Gossip Cop ran the story by El Moussa’s spokesperson, who says on the record that it’s untrue. A rep qualified to speak on the TV star’s behalf tells us, “Christina has never met or spoken with Joanna, so this is another false story by an outlet that has failed to check their facts.”

In addition to being false, the tabloid’s story isn’t particularly logical. In June, it was announced that El Moussa would be getting her own HGTV series, “Christina on the Coast.” The “Flip or Flop” spinoff follows El Moussa as she expands her home design business in Southern California. The TV personality and real estate investor is already attached to headline her own series, so the idea that she needs Gaines to help her career simply isn’t accurate.

Just last month, Gossip Cop busted OK!’s sister outlet, Life & Style, for making up a story about El Moussa and Gaines being “at war.” The outlet alleged that El Moussa was fuming with jealousy over the former HGTV host getting her own network. Shortly after the story was published, El Moussa herself took to Instagram to dismiss the bogus feud rumors. This latest article about the TV personalities is equally baseless.

Top Johnny Depp Rumor Of 2018: Dying From Secret Health Crisis

Johnny Depp Dying Top Rumor 2018

(Getty Images)

Johnny Depp’s health was the subject of several inaccurate tabloid stories in 2018. This year’s top wrong rumor about the actor came when a tabloid alleged he was facing a “deadly liver crisis.” Gossip Cop debunked the claim when it first emerged, and it remains untrue.

In August, the Globe made up a story about Depp being on the verge of death, but the outlet had very little evidence to back up its sensational story. The magazine insisted the actor was suffering from liver failure that would put him in “an early grave at age 55,” but the diagnosis didn’t come from a doctor who’s ever treated Depp. Instead, the tabloid came to its conclusion based on the opinion of a medical institution that “uses a computer program to detect medical ills from a person’s voice.”

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

After listening to two interviews with Depp, an employee from the institution told the magazine that the actor’s “liver is stressed” and he likely has “microscopic holes” in his intestines. As we noted at the time, medical doctors normally test liver function with various physical examinations. Voice analysis is not a common practice when it comes to diagnosing liver diseases. The magazine’s sources never treated Depp, but decided his liver was failing after listening to audio of the actor from random interviews.

The magazine seemingly wrote its ridiculous story after photos emerged in June of Depp looking thinner than usual while signing autographs for fans in Europe. Some fans on social media expressed concern about the actor’s well-being, but many celebrity news outlets confirmed that he was perfectly fine. People magazine, for example, noted that Depp was feeling “happy and healthy” while touring with his band, The Hollywood Vampires. “Entertainment Tonight” similarly confirmed that Depp is healthy. And E! News reported there’s “no reason to be concerned” for Depp.

When the Globe falsely alleged in August that Depp was dying of a liver disease, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actor, who assured us the claim was nonsense. As time has shown, the movie star remains in good health. After spending the summer touring around the world with his band, the actor went on to travel the globe promoting his new movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Earlier this month, Depp wrapped filming his latest movie, Waiting for the Barbarians, and the actor has several other projects in development. Simply put, he’s doing just fine. Unfortunately, the tabloids just have a morbid habit of trying to kill off celebrities. The Globe’s baseless story about Depp dying of a liver crisis marks this year’s top wrong rumor about the star.

Top Robert Pattinson Rumor Of 2018: Dating Katy Perry, Pressured To Marry Her

Robert Pattinson Katy Perry

(Getty Images)

Robert Pattinson has never dated Katy Perry, but in 2018 a number of the tabloids kept pushing that untrue rumor, while one went so far as to allege the singer was pressuring the British actor to get married. Gossip Cop debunked the false narrative, and naturally time has proven how off-base the premise was. Incredibly, the outlet that concocted this year’s top rumor about Pattinson was also the same magazine that manufactured last year’s most inaccurate tale about the movie star’s personal life.

In February, Life & Style published an article that claimed Perry wanted to “settle down and get married” to Pattinson. To support its story, the magazine quoted an unnamed and untraceable “source” who supposedly said, “Rob’s parents approve of Katy and want him to settle down.” “They’re rooting for him and Katy,” added the anonymous tipster.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

Just days before that piece, the same publication falsely reported Pattinson and Perry were spotted “making out” at Taix French Restaurant in Los Angeles, and asserted they were “taking their friendship to the next level.” At the time, Gossip Cop was not only told by their camps it was untrue, but also pictures of Pattinson and Perry from that night showed they sat with a group of friends and not even next to each other. Still, the rumors of them dating wrongly persisted, with the tabloid taking it to “the next level,” claiming Pattinson was being pressured by the singer to get married.

With the exception of arranged marriages and certain reality shows, people generally date before getting married. And even Perry has said she’s never dated Pattinson. She told Elle UK back in 2013 that she’s just “a friend to him.” The singer went on to explain, “He’s my bud, I’m like his big sister. We just hang out.” That same dynamic remains true to this day, and when romance rumors resurfaced in 2018, Perry’s rep, speaking on her behalf, exclusively told Gossip Cop they are “just friends” and not remotely altar-bound.

Two months after the tabloid’s bogus tale about Pattinson being pressured by the singer to get hitched, Perry confirmed she and Orlando Bloom had reconciled following their February 2017 split. Meanwhile, Pattinson, who’s currently seeing Suki Waterhouse, was inaccurately linked romantically in 2018 to not only Perry but also to a slew of other women, including Rihanna, Emma Watson, Sienna Miller, Demi Moore, Mia Goth and even ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart. As noted above, Life & Style was also responsible for the top rumor of 2017 when it incorrectly maintained Pattinson and Stewart were “getting back together.”

With 2018 coming to an end, it’s clear Pattinson didn’t date Perry nor did she push her platonic pal to tie the knot. That’s why the tabloid has had the dubious distinction of having manufactured the top Pattinson rumor for the second year in a row. Gossip Cop hopes the magazine does a better job in 2019 when fact-checking its articles about the British movie star.

Top Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner Rumor Of 2018: Back Together After Rehab Ultimatum

Ben Affleck Jennifer Garner Top Rumor 2018

(Getty Images)

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were the subjects of a lot of bogus tabloid stories in 2018. The top wrong rumor about the pair came when a tabloid reported they were getting back together after the actor agreed to a “marriage and rehab ultimatum.” Gossip Cop debunked the story when it first emerged, and it’s been proven unequivocally false.

Shortly after Affleck checked into rehab for alcohol addition in August, OK! published a cover story claiming Garner was ready to take back her ex because he agreed to seek help. The actress was the one who staged an intervention that led Affleck back into treatment, and according to to the magazine, “She promised him if he gets sober they’ll renew their vows in a private, yet romantic, ceremony and become a family again.”

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

An alleged insider told the magazine that Garner’s ultimatum was “just the motivation” her ex needed to get sober. “Ben wants to be a family again and is thrilled that Jen agrees,” added the outlet’s questionable source. “He’s telling friends he finally got his wife back.”

When this story hit newsstands in August, a source close to Garner assured us it was fabricated. We were told the actress and her ex had no intention of reuniting following his latest stint in rehab. We also learned that Garner never told Affleck she would take him back if he sought treatment.

In October, Affleck checked out of rehab after a 40 day stay, and has since remained in outpatient care. The actor, however, never reconciled with his ex. In fact, Affleck and Garner finalized their divorce just days after he left the treatment facility. Despite the tabloid saying in August that the ex-spouses would reunite once Affleck left rehab, the opposite scenario played out instead.

Also in October, the news emerged that Garner has been dating CaliGroup CEO John Miller. It’s unclear exactly when the actress’s relationship with the exec began, but it’s believed they’ve been casually seeing each other for several months. It seems the actress was already dating someone new when Affleck checked into rehab in late August, which makes it even more apparent that she never promised to take him back.

Here’s what really happened. OK! decided to exploit the news that Affleck was checking into rehab by tying the situation to his marriage and a possible reconciliation with Garner. The entire scenario was a work of fiction, and it marks 2018’s top wrong rumor about the exes.

Caitlyn Jenner, Sophia Hutchins Attended Kris Jenner’s Christmas Party, Despite “Snubbed” Claim

Sophia Hutchins Caitlyn Jenner Kris Jenner

(Getty Images)

Caitlyn Jenner and Sophia Hutchins were at Kris Jenner’s annual Christmas party, despite website and tabloid claims hours earlier that the former Olympian and her gal pal were “snubbed” and “not invited.” The reports came from magazines and blogs that have frequently published inaccurate information about Caitlyn. Contrary to the assertions from those outlets and their so-called sources, there are several photos of Caitlyn and Hutchins at the party.

On Monday, RadarOnline ran a headline that read, “Blindsided! Caitlyn And Sophia Snubbed From Kris’ Annual Christmas Eve Bash.” To back up its story about how they “weren’t invited, the site used an anonymous and clearly unreliable “source” who maintained “the Kardashian-Jenners don’t want Caitlyn in attendance because they don’t approve” of Hutchins. Caitlyn’s daughters Kendall and Kylie “won’t be photographed with [Sophia],” further contended the phony tipster.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

Cailtyn Jenner Sophia Hutchins Kris Jenner Christmas

(Radar)

The blog’s sister publications ran similar stories, all in an effort to make the premise of Caitlyn and Hutchins being “snubbed” appear more plausible. For example, OK! exclaimed, “Kris Jenner Snubs Caitlyn Jenner By Not Inviting Her To Kardashian Christmas Eve Party.” And another sister magazine, In Touch, blared, “Apparently, Caitlyn Jenner And Sophia Hutchins Weren’t Invited To Kris Jenner’s Party.” In reality, the three outlets, owned by the same corporate parent, were simply regurgitating the exact same lie.

Gossip Cop often has to go to great lengths to prove the site and its related tabloids are wrong and their alleged sources are either ill-informed or possibly made-up. That’s not the case with this tall tale. There are so many photos and videos of Caitlyn and Hutchins at the party, which was held on Monday night and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s Hidden Hills home, that we need not have to reach out or rely on our legitimate insiders or even reps.

In fact, Caitlyn posted a video on Instagram of her and Hutchins entering the Christmas party. Contrary to the claim that “the Kardashian-Jenners don’t want Caitlyn in attendance,” on Tuesday morning, alongside the video she shared, the transgender rights activist wrote, “So good seeing everyone and celebrating such a special time of year with you all! Love you all. @kendalljenner @kyliejenner @kimkardashian @kourtneykardash @khloekardashian @krisjenner.”

Additionally, as opposed to the blog asserting her kids “won’t be photographed with [Sophia],” there just happens to be a picture out there showing Kendall with Caitlyn and Hutchins at the party. Basically, nothing RadarOnline reported, and its related magazines repeated, was accurate. Gossip Cop, however, is not entirely surprised.

Just a few months ago, the website swore up and down that Caitlyn’s gal pal Hutchins was going to have a “showdown” with Kris, and yet not only was she invited to the Kardashian matriarch’s Christmas party, but there was also no confrontation at all between the two women. It’s also the outlet Gossip Cop busted more than a year ago when it wrongly reported Caitlyn was moving to Idaho. And it’s the same blog that falsely claimed in 2017 Caitlyn and Kris were going to do a reality show together.

Additionally, it’s the site Gossip Cop corrected over the summer when it posted a bogus tale about how Caitlyn and Hutchins were in the midst of a “top secret adoption.” None of those aforementioned articles were remotely true and neither is the latest one about Caitlyn and Hutchins being “snubbed” from attending the annual Kardashian-Jenner Christmas. As Gossip Cop likes to say, time susses out what’s fact and what’s fiction, though it usually doesn’t happen this fast.

Top Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston Rumor Of 2018: Getting Married And Having A Baby

Brad Pitt Jennifer Aniston Top Rumor 2018

(Getty Images)

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston haven’t rekindled a romance, but the tabloids spent 2018 insisting the ex-spouses were back together. The top wrong rumor about the pair came when it was reported they were getting married again and having a baby. Gossip Cop debunked the premise when it first emerged, and time has proven it false.

In June, In Touch published a cover story claiming Pitt and Aniston were having a “wedding and a baby.” The unreliable outlet said the actress reconciled with her ex-husband shortly after her split from Justin Theroux earlier this year. An alleged insider told the magazine the ex-spouses were “set on rushing their divorces and pushing for a summer wedding.”

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

The magazine’s supposed source added, “Their shared dream of coming full circle, marrying again and having the child they always wanted is finally coming true.” From there, the tabloid offered imaginary details about Pitt and Aniston’s nonexistent wedding. The ceremony was said to be a “low-key affair” that would take place in August at George Clooney’s house in Lake Como. The actor’s six kids would also take part in the nuptials, according to the publication. The outlet’s phony tipster went on to say that Pitt and Aniston would try to conceive a baby following their wedding, but would move on to IVF or adoption if a natural pregnancy wasn’t successful.

When this bogus story first hit newsstands back in June, separate reps for both Pitt and Aniston assured us it was completely fabricated. Despite what the magazine’s anonymous and untraceable “source” claimed, spokespeople for both stars went on the record to dismiss the reconciliation rumors. People magazine, a much more reliable celebrity news outlet that In Touch, similarly reported this year that Pitt and Aniston “haven’t seen each other in ages.”

Two weeks after we corrected the cover story, Aniston’s close friend Portia de Rossi told Us Weekly she knows “for a fact” that the actress and her ex-husband “haven’t seen each other.” In July, “Entertainment Tonight” reported that Pitt had “taken a step away from dating” amid his custody battle with Angelina Jolie. As recently as October, “Entertainment Tonight” wrote a story about Aniston’s “perfectly happy single life,” noting that she “feels more centered than ever because she’s not dating anyone.”

Now that 2018 is coming to an end, it’s clear that Pitt and Aniston never reunited in any capacity, let alone did they get married and have a baby. That ridiculous storyline marks the year’s top wrong rumor about the ex-spouses, who both moved on with their lives a long time ago. It’s time for the tabloids to do the same.

Katie Holmes Thinks Suri Will Be “More Famous” Than Tom Cruise?

Katie Holmes Suri

(Getty Images)

Katie Holmes thinks her daughter Suri Cruise will be “more famous” than the young girl’s dad, Tom Cruise? That was the premise of a tabloid story from exactly one year ago today. At the time, Gossip Cop shot down the report, and now 12 months later, it’s clear the preteen hasn’t gone into the entertainment business to become a star.

On December 25, 2017, Star maintained Suri had “showbiz dreams” and Cruise better “look out.” To bolster its claim, the magazine quoted an unnamed “source” who alleged Holmes was certain Suri would be an actress or a model one day. “Katie says Suri will be even more famous than her dad,” asserted the publication’s anonymous tipster.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

The entire tale was predicated on the fact that Holmes and Suri introduced Taylor Swift at Z100’s 2017 Jingle Ball in New York. The tabloid’s purported source contended Suri “begged” Holmes to join her onstage and “wasn’t nervous” standing in front of the thousands of fans at Madison Square Garden. The unidentifiable tipster further went on to assert Suri was even “thrilled to be in the spotlight.”

Of course, being on a stage with one’s mom is very different than actually acting and wanting to become famous. And if that’s what really gave Suri “showbiz dreams,” it would stand to reason she would have again joined Holmes on the red carpet at the 2018 Jingle Ball and been with her when the actress stepped onstage to say hello to this year’s crowd. Though she attended the annual music event with her mother and some friends earlier this month, Suri was decidedly not front and center this year.

It’s conceivable Suri may one day catch the acting bug, but so far she has not. It bears mentioning that while the magazine pushed its narrative along via an untraceable “source,” who’s not accountable for getting the story wrong, a rep for Holmes, speaking on the actress’s behalf, exclusively told Gossip Cop last year the article was false. Now 365 days later, Suri didn’t hop onstage again at the Jingle Ball nor has she begun a career in show business.

In the intervening year since that article, Star hasn’t become any more reliable with its claims about Suri and Holmes. Just one month after that inaccurate tale, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid when it published an untrue cover story about how Tom Cruise was quitting Scientology to reunite with Suri. And just a month ago, the same outlet falsely reported Cruise was taking Suri away for Christmas, leaving Holmes alone on the holiday.

Nor can Gossip Cop forget the same publication splashed on its cover in September how Holmes was having a “miracle baby” with Jamie Foxx. Keep in mind that story came after the tabloid incorrectly ran on its front page that Holmes dumped Foxx for Joshua Jackson. In each and every one of those articles, the magazine based its claims on anonymous sources, while Gossip Cop accurately debunked them with on-the-record remarks from Holmes’s spokesperson.

Gossip Cop looks back on occasion at reports from the year before to help readers decide which outlets they can and cannot trust. A year ago it was claimed Holmes’s daughter was pursuing a career in show business, and that the actress felt Suri could become more famous than Tom Cruise. It wasn’t true then, and it’s still wrong to this day.

Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt NOT Spending Christmas Together With His Kids, Despite Report

Brad Pitt Jennifer Aniston Christmas

(New Idea)

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are not spending Christmas with his kids or together at all, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this outlandish story, which bears no semblance to reality. We have confirmed on numerous occasions the ex-spouses haven’t even seen each other in a long time, let alone rekindled a romance.

Despite all the evidence to the contrary, New Idea exclaims on its cover that Pitt and Aniston are spending their “first holiday” together with his and Angelina Jolie’s kids. The often discredited tabloid alleges it has a “source” who maintains Aniston and Pitt’s six children are heading to his Missouri home town to see his parents.” The almost assuredly made-up “source” continues, “Spending Christmas with Jennifer and all his kids is a dream come true for Brad.” “He wants all the people he loves under one roof come Christmas morning,” adds the possibly fabricated tipster.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

After noting how the custody issues between Pitt and Jolie have been resolved for the time being, the magazine’s highly suspect insider claims Pitt can now “move forward with Jen and make a family with her and the kids.” The frequently disproven outlet asserts the actor is “desperate to make it official with Jennifer,” and believes Christmas will be “their new start.”

But that’s not all. The seemingly phony “source” also contends Aniston bought “$ 40,000 worth of presents for the kids” and cannot wait to help her “former mother-in-law Jane with the cooking.” The so-called “source,” who amazingly also knows Aniston’s perspective, claims the former “Friends” star is “thrilled about celebrating Christmas with her true love, Brad, and his family.” “It’s a dream come true” for Pitt and Aniston, concludes the apparently manufactured “source.”

The only ones dreaming are the fantasy writers at that publication. As opposed to the tabloid’s unnamed, untraceable and likely concocted “source,” Pitt and Aniston’s reps have repeatedly gone on the record to call stories these days about them being romantically (or even platonically) connected untrue.

For example, in a recent article Gossip Cop debunked from that same outlet about how Pitt was allegedly going to propose to Aniston, her spokesperson asked, “Do readers actually believe this?” before emphatically stating, “There is not a shred of any proof that Jen and Brad have even seen each other in forever.” His spokesperson also denied they’re a couple again. Simply, this narrative about them being back together is a giant lie, and the magazine appears to be disregarding the truth and reputable reporting to push its bogus premise.

About three weeks ago, Gossip Cop busted the equally unreliable In Touch when it published a cover story that declared a pregnant Aniston was spending Christmas with Pitt and his kids. And while New Idea dropped the Aniston pregnant angle, it seems to have taken a number of In Touch’s anonymous source’s quotes word-for-word and pretended they were original. For instance, both articles relate verbatim how Aniston is “thrilled” to be celebrating “Christmas with her true love, Brad, and his family,” and how “it’s a dream come true.” They both also have their supposed insiders asserting how Aniston spending Christmas with the Maleficent star’s kids will “rub salt into the wounds and make [Jolie] even more livid.”

Actually, the people who should be the most “livid” are the readers of these tabloids for being fed fiction. Curiously, the latest tale from New Idea makes no mention of how the magazine wrongly claimed in June Pitt and Aniston were already bringing up his kids. Nor does the publication acknowledge another false report that Gossip Cop busted about Aniston wearing an engagement ring from Pitt.

More interestingly, as we noted above, there are no references to the actress expecting, even though the magazine swore up and down seven months ago that Aniston was pregnant with Pitt’s baby. And Gossip Cop would be remiss if we didn’t point out how in February, the same outlet published a cover story about Pitt and Aniston having gotten married and wanting to adopt a baby. The tabloid has printed provably untrue claims in the past, and its current one about Pitt and Aniston celebrating Christmas with his kids in Missouri is yet another lie.

Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds Going Their “Separate Ways”?

Blake Lively Ryan Reynolds

(Getty Images)

Are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds going their “separate ways”? That was the premise behind a tabloid report from exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop looked into the claim and determined it was 100 percent false. Now 12 months later, it’s clear the magazine that floated the narrative was wrong.

On December 24, 2017, NW maintained Reynolds and Lively were going their “separate ways after five years of marriage and two kids.” The publication alleged their problems stemmed from Reynolds’s long absences while making movies and were only exacerbated when Lively went to Ireland to shoot The Rhythm Section. An unidentifiable source was quoted as telling the outlet it was hard when Reynolds was “working out of town while Blake stay[ed] home with the kids,” but when Lively was on location it got “a million times worse.”

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

The tipster contended the distance between the two when Lively was shooting had “taken its toll” on their marriage. According the anonymous source, her filming abroad resulted in them “fighting almost non-stop.” It became so bad, asserted the so-called “insider” that Lively “banned [Reynolds] from visiting the set altogether.” The purported source even went so far as to say Lively and Reynolds were “headed for a split,” and were “on the verge of publicly announcing the devastating news.”

Gossip Cop has no idea who the tabloid’s leaker was, but that person was unreliable. At the time, we checked with source involved in the production of The Rhythm Section and were told pointblank that Reynolds was in Dublin virtually the whole time with his wife and kids while she shot the movie. Additionally, several other people, who didn’t have the authority to speak on the record, similarly assured us the couple was happily married, and the claims in the magazine were entirely untrue. Now 365 days later, unquestionably the publication was fed bad information.

In the intervening year since that story, Lively and Reynolds themselves have publicly expressed their support and love for each other on social media and on red carpets. In August, for instance, at an event for Aviation Gin, the liquor company the actor owns, Lively posted on Instagram a photo of the two of them, along with a message that reads, “Best friend. Owner of @aviationgin. Sexy AF. Here’s lookin’ at you, kid. [heart emoji] @vancityreynolds.”

And far from Lively and Reynolds looking like they were “headed for a split,” as the magazine alleged, Reynolds and Lively appeared very much in love at the premiere of A Quiet Place. Additionally, Lively and Reynolds looked happy together at a Deadpool 2 screening the following month. Lastly, NW has a poor track record when it comes to stories about the couple.

Just three months ago, Gossip Cop busted the publication when it falsely claimed Lively warned her A Simple Favor costar Anna Kendrick to stop flirting with Reynolds. And in October we corrected the outlet when it wrongly reported Lively and Victoria Beckham were starting a fashion line together. Maybe it’s time for the tabloid to go its separate ways with its Lively and Reynolds sources.

5 Wrong Julia Roberts Feud Rumors

Julia Roberts Feud Rumors

(Getty Images)

The tabloids have thrown Julia Roberts into a lot of fake feuds with other celebrities. Gossip Cop frequently debunks this nonexistent drama. Here are five wrong rumors about the actress’s so-called “feuds.”

Last month, Gossip Cop busted Woman’s Day Australia for falsely claiming that Roberts warned Reese Witherspoon to stay away from her niece Emma Roberts. The story was concocted after Emma said in an interview with Porter magazine that she admired Witherspoon. The tabloid contended that Roberts was “livid” over her niece complimenting another actress, and told Witherspoon not to come near her family. The story made very little sense. For starters, Emma simply expressed admiration for Witherspoon, but made no indication that the actress is her real-life mentor. The idea that Roberts “warned” Witherspoon not to associate with her niece isn’t logical. Regardless, a source close to the situation assured us there was never any confrontation between Roberts and Witherspoon.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1526939461036-0’); });

Also last month, Gossip Cop debunked a National Enquirer story saying Roberts was ending her alleged longtime feud with Sandra Bullock. The magazine maintained that the two actresses have been rivals for years, but they agreed to make peace and team up on a movie together. A source close to the situation assured us that the two women didn’t have a project in the works, and had never been at odds either. In fact, during a speech at the Palm Springs Film Festival in 2014, Bullock mocked a previous tabloid story about her feuding with Roberts.

Gossip Cop called out the Enquirer in October for wrongly reporting that Roberts was battling with Jennifer Aniston over whose TV series would be a bigger hit. Roberts’ new Amazon show “Homecoming” premiered last month, while Aniston’s upcoming Apple series debuts sometime next year. As we noted at the time, the actress’s respective shows aren’t in competition with each other. Roberts series is currently available to watch, while Aniston just recently started shooting hers. Meanwhile, both are airing on streaming services, meaning viewers can watch anytime. Not only did Aniston’s rep dismiss the story as nonsense, but Roberts and Aniston posed together at a charity benefit over the summer, proving they’re friendly.

Back in 2016, Gossip Cop busted OK! for alleging that Roberts had been in a years-long feud with Anne Hathaway, but decided to bury the hatchet following the death of their mutual mentor Garry Marshall, who directed both Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries. Both actresses also worked with Marshall on the 2010 romantic comedy Valentine’s Day. In reality, the magazine exploited the filmmaker’s passing to create a phony feud. Hathaway’s rep told us on the record, “There was never ever a feud. In fact, Annie is a super fan of Julia Roberts, so this makes no sense whatsoever.”

And finally, Gossip Cop called out the Enquirer in 2013 for attempting to pit Roberts against Jennifer Lawrence. The story emerged after MTV asked Roberts about Lawrence joining her as one of “America’s Sweethearts,” to which the actress joked, “My card is expired and I didn’t get a new one. I think she’s fabulous, but she seems cooler than me.” The tabloids began twisting Roberts’ comment into some sort of diss, prompting interviewer Josh Horowitz to tweet, “Nothing so dispiriting as seeing some people turning a fun and complimentary chat into one actress going after another.” The Enquirer tried to keep the saga going by insisting a war had erupted between the actresses, but sources close to both star assured us there was no truth to the claim. This was made more evident in 2015 when Roberts praised Lawrence’s essay on the gender pay gap in Hollywood.
