Aaron Paul took to Twitter on Thursday to BLAST Toys “R” Us for pulling “Breaking Bad” toys from the shelves. As Gossip Cop reported, the children’s toy store came under fire recently for selling figurine versions of Walter White with a fake gun and crystal meth and Paul’s Jesse Pinkman character with a hazmat suit and gas mask.
An angry mom concerned over the appropriateness of such items in a kids’ retailer started a petition that gained nationwide attention through the “Today Show.” Since then, Toys “R” Us has said the dolls are going on an “indefinite sabbatical.”
Paul, however, believes the company’s decision is hypocritical given some of its other offerings. He tweeted, “Wait, so @ToysRUs pulled all of the Breaking Bad figures from their shelves and still sells Barbie? Hmmmm…I wonder what is more damaging?”
“And what about all of the violent video games you sell @ToysRUs ? Do you still sell those? Florida mom really messed it up for everyone,” wrote the Emmy winner. He went on to retweet a fan’s comment, which read, “And what about all of the violent video games you sell @ToysRUs ? Do you still sell those? Florida mom really messed it up for everyone.”
Paul also tweeted a new petition, designed at getting the figurines back on the shelves. “This would be so fun to show the Florida mom,” he wrote, going on to use his character’s signature catchphrase, “Yeah B*tch.” As of now, there’s nearly 7,500 signatures.
And Paul isn’t the only “Breaking Bad” cast member to feel this way. Bryan Cranston, Walter White himself, previously mocked the outcry, tweeting, “‘Florida mom petitions against Toys ‘R Us over Breaking Bad action figures.’ I’m so mad, I’m burning my Florida Mom action figure in protest.” He later wrote, “Toys R Us puts Breaking Bad toys on ‘indefinite sabbatical.’ Word on the street is that they were sent to Belize. Nicely played Florida Mom.”
What do you think of Toys “R” Us pulling the toys, and the reaction to the decision?
