Bono got into a bicycling accident in New York’s Central Park on Sunday and injured his arm so bad, U2 has had to cancel its week-long residency on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” which was slated to begin on Monday.
In a brief post on U2’s website, the band’s other members wrote, “It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time – we’re one man down.” The band explained, “Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We’re sure he’ll make a full recovery soon, so we’ll be back!” “Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding,” adds U2’s The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullens, Jr. Bono has yet to comment on the cycling accident.
The “Tonight Show” had been heavily promoting U2’s residency. The show has not commented on the last-minute cancellation. Gossip Cop will update as more information is released.
Bono has seemed to somehow come into the line of danger of recent. Last week, the singer’s private jet lost its rear hatch shortly before landing in Berlin from Dublin. In addition to the door coming off, two suitcases flew out of the plane as well. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
