Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Donate Millions to Charity in 2008

Angelina Jolie Goodwill Ambassador

They’re gorgeous, talented and extremely generous!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Angelina Jolie, 34, and Brad Pitt, 45, donated a whopping $6.8 million to charitable organizations in 2008.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation, founded in 2006, donated $6.8 of the $13 million it raised last year to non-profits such as Global Health, Human Rights Watch, the Armed Services YMCA, and Pitt’s own Make It Right Foundation, dedicated to rebuilding New Orleans. The Foundation also gave another million to various causes in Cambodia. Jolie’s first child, Maddox, was born in Cambodia and lived in an orphanage in Battambang until adopted by Jolie when he was 7-months-old.

Jolie, a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, has worked to promote humanitarian aid in more than 20 countries since 2000 when she filmed Tomb Raider in Cambodia.

“We cannot close ourselves off to information and ignore the fact that millions of people are out there suffering. I honestly want to help. I don’t believe I feel differently from other people. I think we all want justice and equality, a chance for a life with meaning. All of us would like to believe that if we were in a bad situation someone would help us,” Jolie said after joining UNHCR in 2001.
