CBS Correspondent Bob Simon Dies Of Car Crash

At age 73, fearless journalist Bob Simon says goodbye, and fellow news personalities are mourning.

Simon was killed last Wednesday night on a car crash in New York City. E! News confirmed that he was a passenger in a Lincoln Town Car livery cab which rear-ended a Mercedez-Benz, then hit a median at W. 30 Street while on the way south.

“One of the great writers of a generation has passed. Bob Simon was a journalist of extraordinary courage,” CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley tweets after announcing it on air.

Meanwhile, popular CNN anchor Anderson Cooper shares, “#BobSimon was the best writer, in my opinion, working in broadcast news. I have admired him from the time I was a kid watching #CBSNews.”
