Chely Wright is gay.
The singer-songwriter and Brad Paisley ex has come out of the closet to become country music’s first openly homosexual performer.
“I hid everything for my music,” Wright tells People.
“There had never, ever been a country music artist who had acknowledged his or her homosexuality,” says Wright of her initial reluctance, but added, “Nothing in my life has been more magical than the moment I decided to come out.”
Yesterday, Gossip Cop reached out to Wright’s representative, who wouldn’t comment.
Wright will appear on the “Today Show” on Wednesday to discuss her revelation. She has a memoir, Like Me, hitting shelves this week.
