Christie Brinkley is NOT refusing to marry boyfriend John Mellencamp because she fears he’ll “drop dead” from supposed health issues, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told there’s “no truth” to it.

According to the National Enquirer, the rocker wants to wed Brinkley, but the former supermodel is nervous about tying the knot. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “After a year together, Christie’s still crazy about John. But she worries about his health and she doesn’t want to be a widow.”

The magazine’s dubious insider goes on to say that Mellencamp “thinks dating should lead to a wedding, but he’s having trouble convincing Christie.” The outlet’s questionable “source” further alleges, “Christie is happy with the arrangement she and John have. They live separate lives, but still come together several times a month.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for both Brinkley and Mellencamp, who exclusively assures us there’s “no truth” to the tabloid’s claim. This is simply a non-story. Of course, we’re not particularly surprised by the outlet’s tall tale. Gossip Cop recently corrected the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, for falsely claiming that Brinkley was moving “down South” for Mellencamp in an effort to save their relationship. This latest report about the couple is equally inaccurate.
