Wednesday’s 2016 CMA Awards honor the best in country music. Gossip Cop has a full list of the winners below!
As Gossip Cop reported, the nominations for the 50th annual Country Music Association Awards were announced in August by Dierks Bentley, Cam, and Keith Urban. CMAs co-host Carrie Underwood was among those leading the pack of nominees, with a nod the top category, Entertainer of the Year. She’s competing against reigning champ Luke Bryan, as well as Urban, Garth Brooks, and Chris Stapleton.
Underwood will also be looking to dethrone Miranda Lambert, who has won Female Vocalist of the Year at every ceremony since 2010. And Stapleton, who ended Blake Shelton’s Male Vocalist of the Year streak in 2015, could win the honor for the second year in a row. Stapleton will also enter tonight’s show already a winner.
As announced on “Good Morning America” early Wednesday, Stapleton’s clip for “Fire Away” has won Music Video of the Year. It was also revealed that Bentley and collaborator Elle King won Music Event of the Year with “Different For Girls.” Alas, that means Underwood has already suffered her first loss.
The CMAs will also have two special honors tonight: Dolly Parton will receive the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, while Kenny Chesney will be bestowed the rare Pinnacle Award. Check out the full list of categories and early winners below. Gossip Cop will continue to update the list live as the CMAs air on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern.
