Dwayne Johnson made his first comments on Hulk Hogan‘ s N-word scandal during a Television Critics’ Association press tour session on Thursday.

Johnson, of course, was known primarily as wrestler The Rock before successfully seguing into acting. Appearing via satellite for a panel on his HBO series “Ballers,” Johnson was asked by The Wrap to weigh in on the WWE terminating Hogan’s contract after it was revealed he ranted about “n*ggers” on his infamous sex tape. “I was pretty disappointed with what I heard, like all of us. I was really disappointed in him,” the star responded.

Using Hogan’s given name, Johnson went on tell reporters, “I’ve known Terry for a lot of years. My dad helped train him in Florida in the ’70s when he was breaking into the business. My uncles helped train him as well. So I’d not known him to be racist.”

“It’s funny, it’s one of those things where — I’m not justifying what he said — but we’ve all talked trash. Especially in private,” continued Johnson, adding, “He said what he said and now he’s paying the price.” Meanwhile, some fellow wrestling legends have shown support for Hogan, but others have expressed shock at the reported racist remarks.

And, as Gossip Cop reported earlier this week, another section of the tape is said to include homophobic language. Since releasing an apology statement nearly a week ago, Hogan has not spoken out again, but has been retweeting fan messages on Twitter.
