Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are not planning to get married at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. We’re told the couple has no plans to tie the knot at the holy Catholic church.

“J.Lo & A-Rod’s Ritzy Nuptials” reads a headline in the latest issue of OK! The accompanying article says the engaged couple is “sparing no expense” when it comes to planning their “extravagant” wedding ceremony. A supposed source tells the outlet, “Jennifer pictures this as a grand event with lots of festivities leading up to the big day, from a bachelorette retreat to brunches and games.”

The alleged insider continues, “The cost will be through the roof and into the tens of millions, but she wants to do it right.” The questionable tipster goes on to contend Lopez is telling friends “she’s been granted approval to get married” in Vatican City “after pulling a few strings.” “It’ll be a wedding the world has never seen,” says the seemingly manufactured source, adding the star-studded guests who’ve already received invitations include George and Amal Clooney, the Obamas and Leah Remini, but “they’ve been asked to keep quiet when it comes to the date.”

The purported insider maintains Lopez will have to dress conservatively when she exchanges vows at St. Peter’s Basilica, but “all bets are off” when it comes to what she’ll wear at the reception. “It’s going to be the party of the century,” asserts the possibly fictitious source.

Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Lopez, who wasn’t able to speak on the record, but tells us she’s not walking down the aisle at the Catholic cathedral. In fact, during a recent interview on KTU, Lopez revealed she and Rodriguez haven’t started planning their wedding and won’t begin doing so for a while. “We’re working the rest of the year,” explained the singer, adding that she and her fiancé “haven’t decided if we’re going to squeeze it in [this year] or we’re going to wait.”

It should be noted, OK! has trouble keeping track of its phony narratives. In March, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly reporting Lopez and Rodriguez were planning a destination wedding in Mexico. Last July, we busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Lopez was pregnant with Rodriguez’s baby. And back in 2017, the unreliable publication concocted a story about Lopez and Rodriguez planning a wedding in the Hamptons. None of those articles about the couple panned out, and this latest one won’t either.
