Kanye West thought about killing himself in the past, the star told an audience on Monday.
At a screening of his surreal musical short film, Runaway, West announced, “There were times that I contemplated suicide,” but has since decided, “I will not give up on life again.”
The performer cited his art as a reason to keep going.
“There’s so many people that will never get the chance to have their voice heard,” explained West. “I do it for them.”
Runaway is 35 minutes long and features abstract imagery and portions of nine new West songs. A new album, called “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” will be released on November 22.
