Kim Kardashian is NOT buying a private island in Australia, or building North a theme park on one, despite a crazy new rumor. The claim originated in the Australian magazine New Idea, which may have indeed presented a “new idea” about Kardashian, but a rep tells Gossip Cop exclusively that it’s not a true one.
The Daily Mail picked up the story, blaring the headline, “Revealed: Kim K’s secret plan to buy her own $ 5 million ISLAND in Queensland – complete with a stunning private theme park for baby North.” Called Turtle Island, the locale supposedly “boasts luxurious views of the Great Barrier Reef and exclusive privacy perfect for a famous star,” writes the British tabloid, which says it would be called “Isle Kardashian” if the purchase goes through.
“With already a state-of-the-art three bedroom house, the island still has space for Kim’s theme park plans, with New Idea reporting a water slide and ferris wheel are key attractions the socialite is hoping to build for her 17-month-old daughter North West,” regurgitates the Daily Mail, not bothering to fact-check before running with the story.
But Gossip Cop isn’t in the copy-and-paste business. We investigate and hold outlets accountable for their mistakes, and the Daily Mail and New Idea just made a big one. A rep for Kardashian tells Gossip Cop exclusively that the story is “false.”
