We’re starting to suspect the National Enquirer invested in airlines that serve the Pacific.
Last month, the tabloid insisted Jennifer Aniston was “saying aloha” to Hollywood and planning “to make a new start in Hawaii.” It was, unfortunately for the mag, a completely false rumor.
Now the Enquirer has joined the chorus on a story — endorsed by such quality outlets as HollywoodLife (ha!) and PopEater (double ha!) — claiming Mel Gibson plans to escape his current troubles by moving back to Australia.
“Humiliated by news that the William Morris Agency was dumping him in the wake of his taped racist rants and death threats against Oksana Grigorieva, spitting-mad Mel Gibson raged to pals that he’s quitting showbiz,” reports the Enquirer.
He’s supposedly off to “live a reclusive life” in Australia, having purportedly informed his friends, “I’m DONE with Hollywood!”
Except… it’s not true.
Gibson is not moving to Australia. As his rep told Gossip Cop, the reports are “complete rubbish.”
Good luck to the Enquirer as it scavenges for better scraps next week.
