Did Channing Tatum surprise his wife Jenna by wearing his merman costume from the Splash remake while in their jacuzzi? That’s the claim from one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can correct this fishy report. We’re told it’s “made-up.”
According to the National Enquirer, Tatum asked his “stunning wife” to join him “for a dip in their steamy jacuzzi,” but when Jenna “slipped beneath the boiling bubbles,” she found the actor “attached to a massive fish tail!” In terribly unnatural language, the outlet’s seemingly fake “source” is quoted as saying, “As Jenna’s jaw jerked wide open, Hubby cracked up as he explained he’d just signed up for a new version of the mermaid Daryl Hannah/Tom Hanks Splash movie, only this time he’s a merman!” The magazine’s dubious “insider” goes on to purport, “Channing couldn’t resist showing Wifey his mixed appendage, which made quite a sex splash at home, especially after the tail had come off!”
But if it wasn’t already obvious, much like the upcoming remake of Splash, the Enquirer’s latest report is entirely fictional. A source close to the Magic Mike actor tells Gossip Cop that the story about him surprising his wife in their jacuzzi wearing a merman costume is simply “made-up.” Additionally, the publication fails to provide any specifics about where he got the alleged merman tail, and if the supermarket tabloid had reputable insiders, they certainly wouldn’t refer to either star as “hubby” or “wifey.” The report is nothing more than a fabrication.
Bizarrely, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has corrected the often disproven magazine for publishing an inaccurate article about the remake of the 1980’s fantasy-comedy. In 2016, we called out the tabloid for wrongly claiming that Tom Hanks was upset about Tatum starring in the remake of Splash. That wasn’t true, and the same goes for this latest tale.
