Will Smith is reportedly the frontrunner to star in Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie about a slave in the Old South searching for his wife.
The “spaghetti Western” would team the title character with a German bounty hunter, expected to be played by Christoph Waltz, as they look for Django’s wife and attempt to take down a plantation owner.
No official offer has been made, but Tarantino wants Smith for the role, according to THR.
Samuel L. Jackson is also being lined up for a part in the movie, Tarantino’s first since Inglourious Basterds. Filming would begin in the fall.
