Rogue One once again topped the box office charts. The standalone Star Wars movie, which became the second-highest grossing picture of 2016, despite only coming out in mid-December, narrowly edged out Hidden Figures this week for the number one position. Get this week’s full Top 10 below.
In its fourth week in theaters, Rogue One brought in another $ 21.9 million, while Hidden Figures, which was expanded to 2,000 more theaters on Friday, took a very close second with $ 21.8 million. Though it had initially been tracking higher, the animated musical Sing came in third place with $ 19.5 million. Meanwhile, Kate Beckinsale’s Underworld: Blood Wars had a mediocre opening, but still raked in enough to finish in fourth with a grand total of $ 13.1 million. And La La Land, which could win big at Sunday’s Golden Globes, secured fifth place with $ 10 million in ticket sales.
Rounding out the Top 10 was Passengers in sixth place. It earned $ 8.8 million. A haul of $ 6.5 million gave Why Him? the seventh spot. Moana landed in eighth with a box office of $ 6.4 million. Meanwhile, Denzel Washinton’s Fences nabbed ninth place with ticket sales of $ 4.7 million. And just making it into the Top 10 in the very last slot was Assassin’s Creed. The film made $ 3.8 million.
