T.J. Lavin, the BMX star and MTV host, remains in critical condition and a medically induced coma after crashing in an event on Thursday.
The full extent of his head injuries has not been disclosed, but doctors at University Medical Center placed Lavin in a coma to slow swelling on the brain.
The accident occurred at the Dew Tour Championships at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Lavin’s hometown.
Incredibly, Lavin’s friend and colleague Ty Pinney suffered similar injuries, including serious head trauma, in a riding accident on Wednesday.
He reportedly has also been placed into a coma at the same hospital.
Lavin hosts “The Challenge” on MTV and has been a BMX star since his teens.
In addition to his head injuries, he suffered a broken wrist and a shattered eye socket. Lavin’s friend, Chas Aday, has said that reports of a fractured rib cage are not true.
