Transgender Teen Leelah Alcorn’s Mother Still Doesn’t Accept Who She Was As A Person — Even After Her Suicide

This whole situation continues to makes us really sad.

We reported yesterday about Leelah Alcorn and the heartbreaking suicide note she posted to her tumblr shortly after her death.

The note explained how being a transgender did not exactly fit in with her parents’ plans and that they not only refused her the right to transition, but they shunned her for it.

Well, even after her suicide, Leelah’s mother, Carla Wood Alcorn, is either ignoring the suicide note or ignoring her daughter’s wishes, because she posted the most saddening update about her death on Facebook.

She said:

This means that even after this mother’s child took her own life because of not being accepted by her parents, the mother STILL will not open her eyes to the fact that Leelah was transgender.

This just shatters our hearts.

She also apparently refuses to believe that Leelah committed suicide. We can’t imagine what this poor woman is going through.

We just hope that somehow she will find a way to accept her child for who she was — even though it’s too late for Leelah.
