If I were to ask you to name five movie/TV characters that best represent fashion, I’m pretty sure Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw would be in your list. The people at the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art had the same gal in mind when they organized their upcoming spring exhibit.

Entitled “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity,” the exhibit will “reveal how the American woman initiated style revolutions that mirrored her social, political, and sexual emancipation.”

They enlisted the help of Sarah Jessica Parker by getting her to record the audio guide to accompany the exhibit. “Because of Sex and the City, she is so much associated with New York and with America, and with using fashion as a way to shape identity,” curator Andrew Bolton said.

The exhibit will run from May 5 to August 15, 2010.

She spent the past few months working on My Own Love Song, a movie about a wheelchair-bound singer named Jane who embarks on a soul-searching journey with her best friend.

Her look for the movie wasn’t too flattering. She sported a plain shoulder-length hairstyle for the entire shoot. Here’s a clip from one of the scenes in My Own Love Song:

Now that filming is over, Renée Zellweger had her hair bleached and cropped. She attended the Tribeca Film Festival in New York with co-stars Forest Whitaker and Madeline Zima to promote her new movie. She looked younger and more hip in her Vera Wang LBD and nude peeptoes.

The number of Hollywood celebrities who are going for the short crop is growing. Last week, Heidi Klum unveiled her bob on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Hayden Panettiere and Jennifer Love Hewitt have also joined the bandwagon.

Nothing can stop this woman! How many sexy 63-year-old superstars do you know who can perform and party all night? The unflinching Cher has revealed that as soon as her contract ends with The Colosseum in Caesars Palace expires, she will go on tour again.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the diva is also releasing a new album this year. As a treat to her fans, the album will be available in two versions—one with 14 tracks and one deluxe edition with 19 songs.

The album’s debut single “Already Been There” will be launched at the upcoming World Music Awards this year. We will also see her comeback to the big screen with the movie Burlesque, co-starring Christina Aguilera and Julianne Hough, Alan Cumming, and Cam Gigandet.

Retirement is definitely not in Cher’s vocabulary.

HollywoodLife should really start replacing the phrase “EXCLUSIVE!” on its stories with “ANOTHER DOOZY!”

The site, regarding facts with the glazed indifference typically reserved for airplane seatbelt demonstrations, concocts another “scoop” with a post claiming Conan O’Brien “wants to broadcast his new TBS show from his old NBC studio!”

“Conan considers the NBC building home,” an “insider” tells HollywoodLife. “He’s hoping to make a deal to return.”

No… he’s definitely not.

The host is “lobbying for his return… to the NBC Universal Studio building,” the site continues.

No. No no no.

No he is not.

O’Brien wants “to use the set he felt so comfortable (sic) on The Tonight Show!” cheerfully explains HollywoodLife.

Yes, because the word most associated with O’Brien’s time on “Tonight” was… comfortable?

Let’s veer back into reality.

Conan O’Brien is NOT “lobbying” to get his old studio back.

There’s “no truth to this whatsoever,” a source close to O’Brien assures Gossip Cop. It’s “not happening.”

O’Brien is “definitely going elsewhere” to shoot the TBS show, Gossip Cop is told.

The annual “American Idols LIVE!” tour will kick off July 1 in Michigan. The concerts will feature the current season’s top 10 finalists: Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Lee DeWyze, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, and Tim Urban.

Tickets for the 49-city tour, which will span the continental United States, go on sale May 14 or 15, depending on the city.

“Idol” continues tonight with the remaining hopefuls performing songs by mentor Shania Twain. Of the top 10, Garcia, Benami, Stevens and Urban have already been eliminated from the competition.

An update on ailing rocker Bret Michaels has just been posted to his Facebook page.

Test results indicate that Michaels has suffered a side effect from last week’s brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia, which refers to a lack of sodium in the body resulting in seizures.

Michaels remains hospitalized in an intensive care unit at an undisclosed hospital. Doctors describe his condition as “critical but stable.”

“Michaels’ medical workup demonstrated findings of a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain. It presents itself suddenly as the sound of a loud gunshot or thunderclap at the back of the head causing severe cranial pain and muscle spasms.”

“Many people are speculating Michaels head injury suffered from a prop striking the singer at the Tony awards last June is the cause. Additional studies are planned throughout the week to hopefully detect the exact cause of the rupture.”

“Coupled with the fact that Michaels is a lifelong Type 1 diabetic and has recently undergone emergency appendectomy surgery while on tour in San Antonio, he will remain monitored closely by his medical team to make sure no complications occur from the diabetes.”

“The most common cause of this condition is a spontaneous rupture of a cerebral aneurysm, however, 15 to 20 percent of spontaneous episodes of this hemorrhage are found to have no cause. Michaels has undergone a continuous series of tests while in the ICU including angiograms, CT scans, MRI’s and transcranial dopplers (TCD’s).”

“Doctors state Michaels is very lucky as his condition could have been fatal. With further testing and rehabilitation, they are hopeful that Bret will gradually improve as the blood surrounding the brain dissolves and is reabsorbed into his system, which can be a very painful recovery and take several weeks to months.”

“Michaels remains under 24-hour observation in the ICU and is in positive spirits. He is responding well to tests and treatments. Even though today was a minor setback Doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday.”

According to rumors originating in the National Enquirer, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem will marry this summer.

The highly attractive film stars are planning “a low-key summer wedding in their native Spain,” reports the supermarket tabloid. A “source” tells the Enquirer the couple “just want family and friends.”

“They’ve known each other for years,” explains the magazine, “But suddenly everything’s kicked in. Their lives are aligned and they want to start a family.”

But while Cruz and Bardem may indeed “align” in marriage, the “insiders” promising summer nuptials may have jumped the gun.

A source close to Cruz tells Gossip Cop the rumored timetable “doesn’t sound right.”

Despite their intercontinental careers, Cruz and Bardem manage to keep a fairly low profile. Should they get married, it seems unlikely to Gossip Cop that “insiders” would be tipping the National Enquirer.

Is Bella going Bollywood?

Reports everywhere today claim Twilight star Kristen Stewart plans to take India by storm as the love interest in an upcoming Bollywood movie called Paani.

Supposedly, director Shekhar Kapur offered Stewart the role and the actress “gave the green signal.”

In the film, according to widespread rumors, Hrithik Roshan and Stewart play star-crossed lovers in what a so-called “source” refers to as a “Romeo and Juliet story.”

But don’t expect to see Stewart on set when cameras begin to roll.

Her supposed Bollywood star turn is 100% made up.

Stewart’s rep tells Gossip Cop, “She is not set to star in this movie.”

Matt Damon and his wife Luciana are expecting a baby, a rep for the star confirms to Gossip Cop.

Already parents to 3-year-old Isabella and 19-months-old Gia, Damon and Luciana will soon have their third child together.

Luciana also has 11-year-old daughter Alexia from a previous marriage.

The couple wed in December 2005.

No stranger to ridiculous rumors about her birth, Lady Gaga is now said to eat like an infant.

According to Heat magazine, the performer “has embarked on a dangerous ‘baby food diet’ in a bid to stay slim.”

The rag’s sources claim the pop superstar has been “living off baby food — which is not giving her enough energy to sustain grueling performances” and causing concern among her friends.

“She’s substituting meals for jars of baby food,” claims Heat in a story that’s managed to go wide.

Heat knows a thing or two about “substituting.” It’s what the magazine does when exchanging nonsense for facts.

The baby food rumor is, of course, “not true,” according to a rep for Lady Gaga.

She might be the most creative force in entertainment, but Gaga’s imagination is no match for the tabs’ fantasies.
