The “smartest” blockbuster of the summer battles a collection of dopes for this weekend’s box office title, and it looks like it could come down to the wire.

Inception, the Leonardo DiCaprio mind-bender with two consecutive weekend wins, is facing a serious challenge from Steve Carell’s new release Dinner For Schmucks. According to (very) early estimates, Schmucks scored a $10 million Friday and projects to a $27 million weekend, while Inception earned roughly $8 million on Friday but also projects to a $27 million weekend.

Audiences are still digging Angelina Jolie as a spy, with Salt on pace to finish #3 with approximately $18 million.

Zac Efron’s sentimental Charlie St. Cloud is expected to open to $14 million while contending with another Steve Carell flick, Despicable Me, for fourth place.

The Black Eyed Peas set a new record this week when their hit song “I Gotta Feelin” reached 6 million purchased digital downloads, becoming the first song to reach that level.

“I Gotta Feelin” was penned by group leader Will.i.am and was one of the groups first hits from their multiplatinum selling LP The E.N.D. which was released in 2009.

According to PopCrunch The Black Eyed Peas are no strangers to digital download records, in February 2005 their song “Let’s Get It Started” became the first song to reach the 500,000 mark.

“We came out in ‘98 and our career, if you would look at it on chart, there’s no dips in it,” BEP frontman will.i.am said to the The Associated Press during a telephone interview on Thursday. “For our career to still be healthy and vibrant and doing things like 6 million downloads, it’s pretty significant.”

With such infectious songs, it doesn’t really surprise me that they were the first to reach this mark, what is amazing is how their download rates have skyrocketed since 2004.

We’ve also come to learn that Gaga has gotten back together with ex-flame Luc Carl, a New York bartender who has known Gaga since her St. Jerome Nightclub days in New York back in 2006. Luc apparently broke up with his girlfriend to get back together with the crooner.

Luc’s mother Melinda doesn’t believe the relationship will last, telling the Daily Mail:

“They had a very nasty break-up last time. And I have no idea how this will end. I deliberately haven’t talked to him about what’s going on. With those two, you never know.”

Regardless of the relationship, she looks smokin’ on the cover of Vanity Fair UK.

Jersey Shore’s very own Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was arrested on Friday in Seaside Heights, New Jersey on charges of disorderly conduct.

The arrest occurred as Season 3 taping is underway and TMZ.com reports:

“Law enforcement sources tell us the Seaside Heights PD busted Snooki moments ago for disorderly conduct. The details of that conduct are unclear.”

It’s still unclear exact as to what Snooki did to get arrested, however she was seen pouring what looked like Coca-Cola into a beer bong on the boardwalk just moments before her arrest.

The arrest occured just after Thursday’s second season premiere brought in 5.3 million viewers, a new high for the show.
