MTV has announced a new sitcom, the British hit “Inbetweeners” the TV network also announced that they have commissioned Brad Copeland, writer of Arrested Development to convert the show into an Americanized version.
The popular Channel 4 comedy is not guaranteed, as the network has only ordered a pilot (standard practice), but if Copeland can give his magic touch to the show, it might just be a hit.
The Inbetweeners is centered around a group of friends who aren’t quite the popular click in school, but they also aren’t the schools nerds, leaving them somewhere inbetween.
According to MTV Executive Vice-President David Janollari:
“The Inbetweeners is one of the best comedies to come out of the UK in years,†while he added, “It’s unique and bold, its approach to contemporary teen coming-of-age stories is universal and simply hilarious, and it will resonate immensely with our core demographic.â€
Inbetweeners is ending it’s run after three seasons this year in the UK, but a movie and TV special are also in the works.

Michael Lohan will try to seek a legal conservatorship for Lindsay Lohan.
The actress’ father plans to file a petition sometime in the next several days.
The elder Lohan met with lawyer David Chon, a trusts specialist, on Wednesday.
He, however, is not looking to be her conservator.
Lohan told Gossip Cop, “It is being worked on, and no I will not be [her] conservator.”
But he has also made it clear that he doesn’t want Lindsay’s mother, Dina Lohan, or her new business manager, Lou Taylor, to have control of his daughter’s affairs.
Taking a swipe at the two, he tells Gossip Cop, “I  just want Lindsay’s life and career to be guided by people who are in it with their hearts, not their hands.”
Britney Spears famously ceded legal power in recent years to a conservatorship established by her father, Jamie Spears.
Last May, Lindsay Lohan told Gossip Cop exclusively that her dad’s potential attempt to create a conservatorship for her would go nowhere.
“He won’t ever get that,” she said at the time.
Circumstances have changed, of course, with the younger Lohan in rehab for a fifth time and a probation violation hearing next month.
Gossip Cop will monitor all developments.

Everyone knows that George Clooney loves to prank his friends, and that Brad Pitt and other stars are often his target.
But Life & Style got a little carried away describing an intense practical joke war between the A-list buddies.
The magazine claims that Pitt offered $1,000 to get someone to urinate in the vents of Clooney’s car, and that Clooney made a cash offer in exchange for pepper-spraying Pitt’s car and painting it orange.
But the wackiest part of the story concerns the two buddies paying for some nighttime companionship.
“Brad and George track each other down on their individual sets and send an endless stream of male escorts to each other’s hotel rooms,” an “insider” tells the tabloid.
This latest gag “even made us blush,” admits Life & Style.
We should hope so.
Because it never happened.
In fact, Clooney tells Gossip Cop — via his spokesman — that “not one of those pranks is true.”
As is often the case, Life & Style pulls the biggest joke of all.

Mariah Carey is the perpetual subject of body-related rumors, so when she was photographed in a wheelchair at LAX airport on Tuesday, questions abounded.
But the truth about her condition isn’t what people may expect.
“Mariah twisted her ankle in Singapore and should have packed more sensible shoes, but she doesn’t have any. I’m sending her a pair of flats today,” a rep for the star tells Gossip Cop.

“MTO WORLD EXCLUSIVE!!! DRAKE AND RIHANNA WERE MAKING OUT LAST NIGHT IN A NEW YORK CITY NIGHTCLUB!!! (IT’S OFFICIAL),” exclaims a headline on the upper case-loving blog MediaTakeOut.
The site – commonly known as Media Fake Out – then blares, “It’s official y’all . . . Drake and Rihanna are a COUPLE!!!!”
According to MediaTakeOut, one of its “snitches” was in the VIP area of the New York club Greenhouse last night and saw that “Drake and Rihanna were MAKING OUT.”
One of its snitches?
Would this be one of the “snitches” who told the site Diddy was secretly getting married in St. Bart’s last New Year’s Eve or the “snitch” who said Kim Kardashian recently began dating Chris Brown?
Well, Gossip Cop snooped around and couldn’t verify the sole eyewitness’ account that MediaFakeOut magically obtained. Additionally, a rep for Greenhouse tells us the claim is “not true,” adding, “We didn’t see any making out.”
Nevertheless, MTO says, “In a few days, EVERY GOSSIP place in the WORLD is gonna be talking about this. And when you hear it elsewhere DON’T FORGET that you read it here FIRST.”

Ben Stiller and Edie Falco are coming to Broadway.
The stars are set to play opposite each other in a revival of the black comedy “The House of Blue Leaves,” and Gossip Cop has confirmed Stiller’s participation.
Originally staged in 1966, the play takes place on the day Pope Paul VI visits New York City, and touches upon a number of 1960s themes.
Stiller will play Artie Shaughnessy, a zookeeper who dreams of being a successful songwriter. The role of his schizophrenic wife, Bananas, belongs to Falco.
As it happens, Stiller was also in a 1986 revival, playing Shaughnessy’s son.

Greg Giraldo has died.
A successful comedian known for celebrity roasts and a stint as a judge on “Last Comic Standing,” Giraldo was hospitalized five days ago in New Jersey after overdosing on prescription pills.
He was 44.
A number of comedians took to Twitter to express their condolences. Sarah Silverman tweeted, “RIP Greg Giraldo. Belly-laugh hilarious, prolific, good & kind. A thousand oys can’t express,” and Dane Cook wrote, “Greg Giraldo may you RIP. My thoughts & prayers go to his family, friends & fans.”

Us Weekly, which pawed through Star magazine’s garbage this week, also took a cheap shot at Jennifer Aniston.
According to a “source,” last spring Aniston met Josh Hopkins through his “Cougar Town” co-star Courteney Cox, and the two began “casually dating.”
Unfortunately, Hopkins is “a player and is into meeting younger girls,” claims the Us Weekly source, and the actor allegedly rejected Aniston’s overtures for a relationship.
Ah, but the magazine doesn’t stop there.
“Josh calls Jennifer his ’sport f–k,” a friend of Hopkins supposedly tells Us.
How charming.
Of course, it’s also untrue.
The two friends did not date, and Us Weekly has no evidence that they ever did.
Instead of admitting that there’s no story here, the magazine falsely attributes a vulgar statement to Hopkins and suggests that he duped Aniston, whose type, the tabloid claims, is “really good-looking a–holes.”
“Not only is this false on all levels, but absolutely crude and disrespectful,” a rep for Aniston tells Gossip Cop.
A source close to Hopkins, meanwhile, assures us that the actor would “never, ever” act as Us claims, and especially not toward Aniston — whom, again, he did not date.

Porn star Devon James is reportedly shopping an alleged sex tape of Tiger Woods.
“The tape is 62 minutes long and 37 minutes of it is us having sex,” James, who counts herself among the golfer’s former mistresses, tells RadarOnline.
It’s worth noting, however, that the adult performer, whose real name is Melinda Janette, is called a “pathological liar” by her own mother and had a paternity suit against Woods quickly dismissed.
She was recently fired from her job at the Bunny Ranch brothel.
James claims to be flying to Los Angeles to meet with Vivid about selling the tape, which she tells Radar was filmed in 2008.
“If Vivid won’t pay enough, we’re going to self-release the tape,” declares James. “It’s going to be the bomb.”
When Gossip Cop contacted Vivid about the purported meeting, a spokesperson for the company told us, “Legally, we can’t comment at this time. When this changes, [we’ll] be happy to let you know.”
Gossip Cop is very wary of this so-called “sex tape.”

“Jennifer Lopez is already feuding with her new American Idol co-star Ryan Seacrest,” reports In Touch — you know, the magazine being sued by David Beckham.
Although the show hasn’t even started, says the tab, Lopez and Seacrest “have begun a power struggle over everything from dressing rooms to which star gets top billing.”
Quoting an unnamed “insider,” the magazine claims, “Ryan was the one who first suggested Jennifer, but now he’s starting to regret it, because she’s acting like she’s a much bigger star than he is.”
The same source adds, “producers are trying to get them to make peace, but their egos are both pretty big.”
Know what’s also big?
This lie.
Not only do Idol sources say everything is fine between Lopez and Seacrest, but the singer’s rep tells Gossip Cop, “They are friends and this isn’t at all true.”
A rep for Seacrest also says the tab’s tale is “totally untrue.”
Let’s hope this year’s singers aren’t as off-key as In Touch.
