UPDATE: Lauren Alaina Performing on ‘Idol’ Finale Despite Losing Voice Earlier

(Fox)

It looked like Lauren Alaina was going to have to drop out of tonight’s “American Idol” finale after losing her voice.

The finalist was experiencing difficulty singing during this afternoon’s rehearsals, leading to the “real possibility” she wouldn’t be able to compete tonight.

A doctor on the show’s set ordered Alaina not to sing or speak before the show.

But she’s now hit the stage and competing against Scotty McCreery for America’s votes.

Details from Oprah’s Final Show

(GettyImages.com)

Oprah ended her 25-year run with one guest for her finale — Oprah.

The last episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which taped today — and will air on Wednesday — had Oprah summing up the lessons she’s learned over the past quarter century hosting her eponymous show.

According to audience member, Amy Korin, Oprah said, “This isn’t goodbye. This is until we meet again,” before kissing and hugging longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham, and then walking through the halls of her Harpo Studios, where she said her goodbyes to her staff.

Korin told the Associated Press that there was “a lot of crying and hugs.”

And while Oprah had a chair on stage, she spent most of the time standing and giving “a recap of what she believed in, what we’ve given her as viewers and what she hopes she has given us,” said audience member Nancy Evankoe, who took her daughter to the taping.

There was star power in the audience. At the final show were Maria Shriver, Cicely Tyson, gal pal Gayle King, Suze Orman, and Tyler Perry.

Will you be watching Oprah finale tomorrow?

Ryan Seacrest Did Not Freak Out When Julianne Hough “Kissed” Diego Boneta

(HollywoodLife)

Most people saw pictures of a bikini-clad Julianne Hough kissing Diego Boneta for a scene in Rock of Ages and thought nothing of it.

That’s because most people who read celebrity news sites are adults with basic reasoning skills.

They understand that sometimes people dress up as other people (or “characters”) and are filmed for motion pictures. These “characters” behave according to a script, which might, say, have them frolic in the waves and kiss.

It’s all pretend.

When adults who use common sense see “characters” in action, they grasp this concept.

Unfortunately, HollywoodLife also saw the Hough-Boneta photos.

The site claims “Dancing with the Stars” pro Hough’s beau Ryan Seacrest is “upset” about the pictures and “not happy” that his girlfriend is “smooching another man.”

Ooooh-kay.

Let’s see how far HollywoodLife goes with this (ridiculous) premise!

“The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast and crew were told not to discuss Julianne’s kissing scene in her new movie while in the CBS building,” a so-called “insider” tells the site.

“‘Idol’ is filmed there as well, and Ryan often passes by the ‘DWTS’ people. He does not want it addressed and especially in his presence,” explains the “insider.” “He would like to pretend his girlfriend isn’t kissing anybody else, even if he understands it is her job.”

HollywoodLife finds Seacrest’s discomfort with the subject “understandable,” especially “now that the pictures have been released.”

“Now that the pictures have been released”?

Um, does HollywoodLife think Seacrest may have been hoping Rock of Ages would be done as a radio play?

Seacrest has known for a while that Hough was doing the movie.

He’s known that the movie sees her make physical contact with another man.

None of this comes as a horrible surprise to him.

He’s not a 6th grader whose jealousy is inflamed by people talking in the hallways about his girlfriend’s screen kiss.

In any case, a source close to Seacrest tells Gossip Cop the story is “ridiculous.”

Once again, HollywoodLife makes the mistake of assuming the people it covers are every bit as immature as its own mindset.

Tom Hanks & Other Hollywood Royalty Join the Queen and Obamas for Dinner

(GettyImages)

Tom Hanks, Kevin Spacey, Kristin Chenoweth, and Helena Bonham-Carter and Tim Burton were among Hollywood royalty at a banquet Queen Elizabeth hosted for President Obama at Buckingham Palace this evening.

The Queen noted at the beginning, “We have enjoyed … any number of what we call films, and you might call movies,” which she said have “enlarged and invigorated our common language, although I think you will agree we don’t always use it in quite the same way.”

The British monarch also recalled what a “pleasure” it was initially meeting the entire first family back in 2009.

And President Obama sent regards from daughters Malia and Sasha, who he said, ”adored you even before you let them ride in a carriage on the palace grounds.”

William and Kate, who earlier in the day greeted the Obamas, were not at the dinner.

Lily Collins’ Snow White Leapfrogs Kristen Stewart’s Snow White to Release

(GettyImages.com)

The Great War of the Snow Whites continues!

On the heels of Universal’s announcement that it would move the Kristen StewartChris Hemsworth fairy tale Snow White and the Huntsman up to June 1, 2012 (from December 2012), Relativity has jumped its own, untitled Snow White project starring Lily Collins to March 16, 2012.

For a few days, both films were scheduled for next June.

While there’s now more space between the movies, some industry observers still express doubt about the demand for two separate major motion pictures based on the same character in a single theatrical season.

It remains to be seen whether Universal will change its timetable again in response to today’s news.

The Stewart version, directed by Rupert Sanders, also features Charlize Theron.

The Collins version, meanwhile, is set to be directed by Tarsem Singh and stars Armie Hammer as the male lead.

Parents Group Slams “Explicit” Rihanna-Britney “S&M” Performance

(GettyImages.com)

The Parents Television Council is protesting the “explicit” Billboard Music Awards-opening performance of “S&M” by Rihanna and Britney Spears.

“What happened in Vegas should have stayed in Vegas, as the saying goes,” said PTC president Tim Winter in a statement. “It certainly has no place at 8:00 p.m. on the publicly-owned broadcast airwaves.”

The group has asked members to complain to ABC’s parent company Disney about the segment, which showed Rihanna and Spears clad in bondage-style outfits and pole dancing (watch it below).

“I cannot imagine what would possibly lead the ABC television network to air a profanity-laced, S&M sex show on primetime broadcast television,” continued Winter.

“The overtly sexualized performance by Rihanna and Britney Spears was no accident or mishap, but a deliberate effort to target teens with images and lyrics that glamorize whips, chains and other sexual fetishes.”

So… What do you think?

Were Rihanna and Spears too racy for primetime?

Or is the Parents Television Council overreacting?
