In a piece titled, “Michaele Salahi releases single inspired by Oprah,” the Washington Post reports that Salahi has “launched a new career as a pop princess” with the single, “Bump It,” and her “inspiration” for becoming a recording artist is none other than Oprah Winfrey.
The paper then quotes a press release from the former “Real Housewives of DC” star: “Michaele Salahi was inspired to do something with her voice, when she was back stage with Grammy award winner Bebe Winans and television host Oprah Winfrey at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. during the inauguration of President Barack Obama. It was a defining moment backstage when Oprah told Michaele, ‘Wow, you have an amazing voice!’”
Wow, fact-check much, Washington Post?
It’s a lovely, self-serving anecdote… but it’s not true.
Winfrey’s rep tells Gossip Cop, “Oprah briefly met Ms. Salahi backstage at the Kennedy Center after an Oprah Show taping in January 2009. Â However, there’s absolutely no truth to the report that they discussed Ms. Salahi’s vocal abilities.”
Like Salahi, this Washington Post story also crashes.

Gwyneth Paltrow Grows Salvia

Gwyneth Paltrow grows salvia in her garden, the actress revealed today in a post on her website GOOP.
While highlighting her spring herb and veggie planting, Paltrow shows off a photo of her kale, mint, sage – and salvia.
But Paltrow’s salvia is not necessarily the hallucinogenic variety famously smoked on video by Miley Cyrus.
While salvia divinorum (legal in most U.S. states) has psychoactive properties that produce visions, salvia officinalis is just plain old common sage, used in the kitchen.
So anyone looking for a quick high might need to go somewhere besides Paltrow’s garden.

Marie Osmond Adopting a Baby?

Marie Osmond has a “baby secret,” according to the National Enquirer.
The tabloid says Osmond, who recently remarried her first husband Stephen Craig is planning to “adopt an infant.”
The singer supposedly told a pal after her wedding ceremony, “Steve and I want to have a child together,” says a so-called “source.”
“Marie remarked that she might be a bit too old to have one naturally,” explains the “insider,” adding that the 51-year-old Osmond and Craig “discussed adopting a newborn.”
Osmond, who has three biological children and five adopted kids (one of whom tragically committed suicide last year), allegedly divulged, “My youngest will be nine this year and everyone else is going to be out of the house soon. I want to hear the pitter-patter of little feat again.”
A rep for the entertainer is fairly certain, however, that the adoption story is false.

Angelina Jolie Confirms New Tattoo for Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie created speculation last month when a series of new numbers were added to the tattoo on her left arm which features the latitude and longitude of each of her kids’ birthplaces.
Some outlets reported it was a sign that she was going to adopt another child.
But the actress finally cleared up the confusion while promoting her film Kung Fu Panda 2 at the Cannes Film Festival.
Jolie told the show “Extra,”If they know that it’s latitude and longitude they would have figured out quickly that it was Brad’s birthplace… It doesn’t take much investigation to figure that one out. It’s Shawnee, Oklahoma.”
OK, but are Jolie and Brad Pitt ready again to adopt another child?
The actress said there’s no chance of them adopting “at this time.”
Damn, because we’re basically neat and we mostly put away our toys.

Lindsay Lohan: “I Am Glad to be Able to Put This Past Meâ€

Lindsay Lohan’s ready to move on.
After entering a “no contest” plea in her theft case earlier today, the Mean Girls star just released a statement saying, “I am glad to be able to put this past me and move on with my life and my career. I support the judge’s decision and hold myself accountable for being in this situation.”
Although Judge Stephanie Sautner said, “I don’t think the root of her problems is substance abuse,” and even felt a treatment program was unnecessary, Lohan’s probation officer believes the star’s issues do in fact stem from drugs and alcohol.
According to a probation report, Lohan failed an alcohol test on February 8, approximately a month after she left rehab.
The report also says the police interviewed restaurant and nightclub employees who claimed Lohan was drinking on the December night she allegedly got into an altercation with a Betty Ford staffer.
Judge Sautner felt Lohan has “other problems, which she self-medicates,” and needs psychological counseling instead.
The judge also ordered Lohan to take an anti-shoplifting class.
As for jail, it’s out of Sautner’s hands. It’s up to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which oversees the jails and will be taking Lohan’s probation report into account.
Because of overcrowding, there’s a strong chance Lohan will only serve a fraction of her 120-day sentence, and will be eligible for house arrest.
No decisions, however, will be made until June 17 or before when Lohan reports for jail.

Hugh Grant Replacing Charlie Sheen on ‘Two and a Half Men’?

There’s been a lot of buzz today regarding the news that Hugh Grant was in talks to replace Charlie Sheen on “Two and a Half Men.”
Gossip Cop confirms the British star had been in serious negotiations to assume the role of Sheen’s philandering Charlie Harper, but the talks seemingly fell through.
We’re told it’s “unlikely” that the negotiations will resume.
The site Deadline reported that Grant had been offered more than $1 million per episode, but an insider familiar with the discussions tells Gossip Cop that figure is dead wrong, and way too high.
Still, the news about Grant shows that Warner Bros, who produces the CBS show, is serious about keeping the series on the air, even without Sheen.
Gossip Cop will update when we learn more about the show’s fate.
