“Jim Carrey was anything but pleasant on the set of Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” reports Us Weekly in a piece titled, “Jim: Mean to Crew.”
According to a “source” for the celebrity weekly, “Jim was moody and rude to the crew,” and made it abundantly clear “he wasn’t to be bothered. Visitors were told not to make eye contact with him.”
But what’s as black and white as a penguin’s body is that this report is not entirely accurate.
Not only did a rep for Carrey tell Gossip Cop the tale is “not true,” but a couple of sources on the set of the production also maintain that that the actor was “fun” and “professional,” and “genuinely good” to the crew.

Two photos of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords were released this morning on her Facebook page.
The two pics (right and below) show the Congresswoman with shorter hair, smiling five months after being shot at close range in the left side of her head by a gunman in front of a Safeway in Tucson.
Photographer P.K. Weis said, ”Any photographer in the country would have loved the opportunity to take these pictures and I was delighted to be asked. I’ve known Gabby for more than a decade and her staff asked me to do it because she wanted someone who was not a stranger — someone she would be comfortable around.”
And while Giffords looks good and has made tremendous progress, she still remains in a rehab facility in Houston and has a long road ahead of her.
Her rep recently said the Congresswoman, who has relearned how to walk and talk, has difficulty stringing sentences together and often uses facial expressions and gestures to convey her thoughts.
Gossip Cop wishes her a continued recovery.

LeAnn Rimes denies making a “sex tape” with ex-husband Dean Sheremet – but doesn’t exactly address the allegation that there is steamy (and possibly nude) home video footage that’s leaked.
An anonymous online forum poster claims he or she has several short videos of Rimes, shot by Sheremet, in some provocative poses in the privacy of their bedroom.
Specifically, the purported video is said to contain images of Rimes bending over in a thong.
When asked about the racy report, Sheremet told Star, “We were married for eight years, we did a lot of s**t. I honestly don’t even remember… I’m sure it was fun and innocent.”
Hmm. That’s not exactly a strong denial of there being provocative Rimes footage.
The singer’s tweet on the rumor doesn’t exactly close the matter, either.
She writes, “I hear there are rumors of a ’sex tape’ I have never filmed myself having sex on tape, period. Haven’t joined that club LOL!”
Except no one is saying there’s footage of actual “sex on tape,” and Rimes’ response doesn’t rule out the possibility that racy or revealing footage of her has wound up in the wrong hands.
Gossip Cop is not saying it definitely exists – but neither Rimes nor Sheremet have put the issue… to bed.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $500,000 to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks to aid tornado relief efforts in Joplin, Missouri.
Pitt, a native of Springfield, Missouri, said in a statement, “With the devastating loss of thirty percent of the city, the Joplin community faces great challenges ahead. Having spent much of my childhood there, I know these people to be hardworking, humble and especially resilient.”
“The locally based Community Foundation of the Ozarks will be working shoulder to shoulder with these Joplin residents for the long haul as they rebuild their lives. We, too, hope to further help with these rebuilding efforts.”
Jolie added, “Our hearts go out to the families in Joplin who have lost so much.”
Pitt previously commented on the devastation in Joplin at the L.A. premiere of his movie The Tree of Life, saying, “I spent a lot of time in Joplin. My grandparents were from there… My thoughts are certainly with them.â€

Jennifer Hudson was hospitalized for food poisoning after performing on “Good Morning America” in New York, her rep confirms to Gossip Cop.
Fortunately, she’s now better.
She went to the hospital with “severe abdominal pains,” says her rep.
“She was treated for food poisoning and released.”
There seems to be an epidemic of celebrity hospitalizations immediately following national TV appearances.

Selena Gomez was rushed to the hospital right after appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
A rep for the actress tells Gossip Cop, “Last night after Selena’s appearance on The Tonight Show she wasn’t feeling well and was taken to the hospital.  She is currently undergoing routine tests.â€
Gomez is said to have complained of nausea and a severe headache, but more about her illness is not known.
A production source tells Gossip Cop that Gomez was feeling “fine” throughout the interview itself, and she stayed and did the show’s backstage interview, even joking around with fellow guest Jim Carrey.
During her interview with Leno, Gomez acknowledged her romance with Justin Bieber.
Gossip Cop will update when more details emerge.

Britney Spears is not secretly engaged to Jason Trawick.
The Sun claims to have an “exclusive” about the supposed engagement, including alleged details about Trawick’s proposal to Spears in the couple’s Los Angeles mansion.
According to a so-called “source” for the paper, “She’s on cloud nine.”
“Britney’s desperate to settle down again and have more children,” explains The Sun source.
“But she is very traditional and didn’t want to start a family with Jason until they’d tied the knot.”
The Sun says Spears and Trawick plan a “low-key wedding in Hawaii” after she finishes her Femme Fatale tour.
Far be it from Gossip Cop to challenge The Sun’s reporting, but, um, this is the same publication that said Spears and Trawick were getting married way back in October 2009.
It wasn’t true then, and it’s not true this time, either.
A rep for Spears assures Gossip Cop she and Trawick are not engaged.

Tracy Morgan has apologized for an anti-gay rant during his June 3 stand-up performance in Nashville.
“I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville,” the comedian and “30 Rock” star says in an exclusive statement to Gossip Cop.
“I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others.”
“While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.â€

“Kim Kardashian Commissions ‘Decoy’ Engagement Ring,” reads the headline of a RadarOnline story.
According to the blog, Kardashian loves her estimated $2 million, 20.5 carat engagement ring from Kris Humphries “so much so that she never wants to take it off, but at the same time she worries about something happening to her most precious possession.”
That’s why, reports RadarOnline, she’s ”commissioned a top jeweler to make her a ‘decoy’ ring — an exact replica but with a cubic zirconia instead of a diamond!”
“It’s going to be perfect and really difficult to detect that it’s a fake to the untrained eye,” claims a RadarOnline source, who adds, “She will wear the real thing when she goes to special events or when she feels comfortable, but when she’s just tooling around she can wear her ‘decoy.’”
Actually the only thing that’s fake is RadarOnline’s report.
A source close to Kardashian tells Gossip Cop the “decoy” ring story is “not true.”
Like costume jewelry, the blog’s tale is equally worthless.
