Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette gave a memorable performance of the latter’s hit “You Oughta Know” at the Staples Center on Monday night. Morissette was among the surprise guests at Swift’s third sold-out 1989 show in Los Angeles. See the video below.

Morissette was actually the third special guest. First, Swift brought out Natalie Maines, and the two sang The Dixie Chicks song “Goodbye Earl.” That was followed by Ellen DeGeneres strutting her stuff down the runway in a shimmery silver tutu for “Style.” And then Swift and Morissette sang “You Oughta Know.”

But before they began their duet, Swift said of Morissette that she “defined the music of her decade” and “inspired a generation of confessional, female singer-singwriters.” Swift noted that Morissette made it possible to sing about “raw feelings” and one’s life, and “you could get really, really mad if you wanted to.” But mostly, pointed out Swift, Morissette wrote the “greatest breakup song of all time.” And with that they sang “You Oughta Know” together.

After the show, Morissette tweeted, “such a sweet celebration! thank you @taylorswift13 #1989TourLA,” along with a link to iTunes in case anyone wanted to buy singles, including “You Oughta Know,” from her album Jagged Little Pill. For her part, Swift tweeted hours after the show, “Tonight. ‘You Oughta Know’. @Alanis. I don’t know how to process how amazing she was. Just absolutely magnificent.”

Swift also commented on Twitter about Maines and DeGeneres. Of Maines, Swift explained in a tweet, “I used to sing Dixie Chicks songs at every talent show. Singing ‘Goodbye Earl’ with Natalie tonight was unbelievable.” And, along with a photo of DeGeneres in her ensemble, the singer joked, “When @TheEllenShow walks out in a more sparkly outfit than yours.”

This is such tragic news.

Following Justin Wilson‘s car crash at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, we’re sad to report that the IndyCar driver succumbed to his head injury.

The 37-year-old was in a coma after a fellow racer spun out and sent debris flying at Justin’s car, causing him to drive head on into a barrier.

Justin was initially airlifted to a nearby Pennsylvania hospital, but he unfortunately passed away on Monday night.

Our thoughts are with Justin’s wife Julia, younger brother Stefan, and the remainder of his friends, family, and teammates at this unimaginably difficult time.

Rest in peace, Justin.

Will it be so, Joe?!

Vice President Joe Biden is considering announcing a bid for the presidency in 2016, according to some insider reports — and a decision may be coming very soon!

Biden’s decision supposedly hinges on both political and familial responsibilities — as opposed to chances of beating Hillary Clinton.

While he is reportedly considering a run very seriously, spokeswoman Kendra Barkoff wanted to be very clear that he has yet to officially go that route:

“The Vice President has not made a decision about his political future. Anyone speculating that he has made a decision is wrong.”

That’s not a denial…

Of course, VP Biden would enter a tough presidential field within the Democratic Party, with Hillary leading the way and Bernie Sanders gaining on the former First Lady’s heels.

Nevertheless, after Biden’s son Beau passed away from brain cancer in May, news came out that he allegedly encouraged his father to run for President before his death.

Last night Justin Bieber performed at the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival in New York and he didn’t disappoint!

It was during his newest hit song Where Are U Now that the 21-year-old singer decided to show off his fit physique by ripping his shirt off!

He kept his baseball hat on while he flexed and flaunted his muscles around the stage singing to the packed audience!

It sure looks like he’s kept up his workout routine since appearing in that AH-Mazing photo shoot for Men’s Health! He’s as pumped as we’ve ever seen him!

One Direction fans are going to lose their minds!!

In a not so surprising turn of events, a source close to the band says 1D will go on hiatus come March and there will be no world tour despite the recent release of their fifth album. While the insider says this is “not a split”, we have a feeling this is the beginning of the end!

The confidante elaborated on the disappointing situation, saying:

The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband. They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision. It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future. But for now it is the end and they go out on top as the world’s most popular music act.”

Hmm, we have a feeling this is the beginning of the end. While the source claims this isn’t a permanent break-up, we can’t see a reunion in the future. Not only did the loss of Zayn Malik damage the group, but Louis Tomlinson‘s impending fatherhood is most likely his main focus at this point.

One Direction will take a year off from performing together. The break is slated to begin in March after Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan finish promoting their fifth album. They will, however, not tour in support of the album.

The one-year hiatus is so that the band members can pursue their own projects. As Gossip Cop reported three weeks ago, Payne told a UK radio station that he prefers songwriting and wouldn’t outright comment on whether or not he would leave One Direction. Payne said, “I like writing songs for different artists,” adding, “I much prefer doing that sort of thing.

Tomlinson will also probably want some time off. The singer and his friend Briana Jungwirth are expecting a baby, and he’ll become a dad right around the time the band plans on taking a break. Horan, it’s said, will look to record music. And Styles has been courted for some time by music and film producers alike for a solo record and movies, respectively.

Word is the decision to put the band on pause came out of London last week around the time “Drag Me Down” was released. Apparently, there’s every intention for the guys to regroup a year later, but of course time will tell whether that really happens.

The decision to let the guys go off to pursue their own interests and projects has nothing to do with Zayn Malik, who quit the group last March to embark on a solo career. A rep for One Direction issued a “no comment currently” to Gossip Cop about the one-year break. We have reached out to a number of One Direction sources, and will update as more information emerges.
